We enjoyed the quirkiness and originality of the cottage. It was a fun place to stay in and the updated bathroom features were well received. We would definitely stay there again, close to everything, very clean with everything anyone would need.
We had a great one night stay at Orla's Cottage in Oamaru. Just a little further from the town centre than we would've wanted to walk, but the home was comfortable and clean and good for our little family. Would recommend this place to others.
The austere street view of this property belied the care taken to restore the interior, which was roomy and comfortable. Kitchen and dining facilities were limited and the bathroom was minimalist, but overall, we enjoyed our stay. The Steam Punk museum was a highlight as were the botanic gardens.
This was a great place to stay with frictionless booking and communication. The character and ambience was in keeping with Oamaru which is full of character in the Victorian precinct.
We had all we needed and slept comfortably in this charming historic cottage. Just a hop, skip and a jump from the main drag, we found the neighbourhood quiet. It was an easy walk to the penguins for the adventurous in our party and we were glad for a lift back at night. I was grateful for the thoughtful condiments on offer, and we enjoyed playing Chinese checkers with the kids. We'd happily book again - entry was simple with clear instructions!
This lovely three bedroom home suited my mother and I as we were traveling through the area. When we pulled up we were not sure it was the right place as the outside looks under par, however inside this lovely home is all you need with spacious rooms, a lovely lounge, kitchen, bathroom and very gracious hosts. Thank you for the wonderful stay!
Took a while to warm up and we notice there was no smoke alarms.

A tad misleading
Pretty disappointed with condition of this property. It wasn't a few hundred meters from the historic Oamaru prescient that was described in Book a batch. It was cold, with limited living space and very tired condition.
Close to the Victorian Precinct and waterfront. Easy walk to Cucina for an excellent dinner. Lovely and warm on arrival despite being one of the coldest days. Everything we needed for our stay. A very quaint cottage.
We enjoyed our stay, close to town and the Whitestone cheese factory/shop. Thanks for sharing your home.
The Last Post is a must for dinner, great food and service.
For the owner..
The Mitre 10 opens at 7:30 am and can be quite noisy along with their security lights, disturbing you if you are a light sleeper.
The house's security lights were on permanently, it took us some time to find the switch to turn them off, and the heat pump in the lounge we had trouble getting to work, The TV needs instructions or a freeview box that works.

Orla's cottage is our personal holiday home in Oamaru and has been fitted out to reflect a holiday home (bach) feel while still having the creature comforts you would come to expect from higher end boutique accommodation providers around the world.
We hope you love this home as much as we do and get to appreciate the history and amazing nature the Oamaru and Waitaki region has to offer.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this old cottage when we first saw it online and bought it sight unseen! It took some work but we are so proud of the work we have put into restoring the cottage with modern amenities while still keeping its old world charm.
What makes this property unique
So close to town and the Victorian Precinct as well as a short walk to the Blue Penguin Colony
