About this property
West Kill Barnhouse: Ski, Work & Unwind
* Door-to-door 10-20 mins to skiing.
* Unobstructed mountain views!
Escape to the "Winter Wonderland" of West Kill. Whether you are chasing fresh powder at Belleayre, seeking a silent retreat from the city, or looking for the ultimate remote-work backdrop, our renovated barn is your cozy basecamp.
Tucked away from the road for total peace, yet just minutes from the legendary West Kill Brewing and major ski resorts, we offer the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern convenience.
The space
Step inside a 100-year-old barn reimagined for modern comfort. We know what matters after a long drive or a cold day outside:
- For the Winter Adventurers: Located perfectly between Hunter Mountain and Belleayre Mountain (approx. 20 mins), we are the ideal ski basecamp. Our heating system is powerful and fast—the barn warms up in minutes so you can thaw out instantly after the slopes.
Insider Tip: Ask us about our Sunday late check-out options to squeeze in one last half-day of skiing!
- For the "Work from Wilderness" Nomads: Why work from an office when you can work with a mountain view? We offer high-speed Wi-Fi that handles Zoom calls with ease, plus designated workspaces.
Mid-Week Perk: We love long-term stays! The kitchen is fully stocked for full-week meal prep, and the silence here is unmatched for deep focus.
- For the Friends & Foodies: We are just down the road from West Kill Supply (brewery and food trucks) and the Spruceton Inn. The open-concept living area features a foosball table and plenty of seating, making it perfect for game nights and reconnecting.
Getting Around: We can recommend reliable local taxi services so your group can enjoy the local brews safely.
- For Families & Nature Lovers: The barn is set back on a large, private lot safe for kids and pets to explore. Across the street, you’ll find trails, a fox den under the old church, and endless nature. Inside, the layout allows parents to relax downstairs while kids enjoy the loft area.
Family Value: No need to pack entertainment—between the smart TV, foosball, and outdoor space, we ’ve got you covered.
The Cozy Details:
Master Bedroom: Queen bed, spacious and warm.
Second Bedroom: Double bed, cozy and quiet.
Third Bedroom: Twin bed, perfect for a child or solo friend.
Kitchen: Fully equipped (just bring your pancake griddle!) with a coffee bar to start your mornings right.
Pet Friendly: We welcome your furry friends (fee applies). The yard is massive and perfect for snowy romps.
Guest access You will have the entire barn and the surrounding grounds to yourself. Keyless entry makes check-in a breeze, no matter what time you arrive.
Other things to note We are located in the heart of the Catskills. While we have great Wi-Fi, cell service can be spotty in the mountains—we recommend downloading offline maps before you head up!
Guest access
* You will have exclusive access to the entire house
* Extremely private backyard
* Shared driveway
Other things to note
Come and enjoy the peace and quiet of this country retreat. This is a perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Whether you are looking for a weekend retreat or a place to call home for an extended period of time, this property is just what you are looking for.
This rustic barnhouse has been completely renovated with all the modern amenities that you need, while still keeping its original 18th century hand-hewn beams. With three bedrooms, one bath, and enough space to comfortably sleep six people, this house is perfect for large groups or families. The full kitchen comes equipped with everything you need to cook your favorite meal, including a dishwasher, washer/dryer combo unit, microwave oven, fridge, stovetop oven with four burners and an oven grill, and even a toaster!
But the best part of this property has got to be the back door that opens up onto an unobstructed view of Mount Sherrill. Spend evenings out on the back porch watching the sun set over the mountains or relax in your private backyard oasis while enjoying a beverage of your choice. Whether you are looking for a weekend getaway or a place to call home full time, this rustic barnhouse is just what you are looking for!

About the host
Hosted by Irene
Hi, We love NYC and the mountains. In West Kill, in particular, mountains are everywhere, the nature is pristine (this area is part of NYC watershed), and life could not be simpler and better, especially when it is filled with all the modern conveniences!
Why they chose this property
Let Sherrill Mountain (elevation 3540 ft.) be your backyard. In addition to spectacular views and pet-friendly meadow, enjoy the pristine West Kill creek across the street behind the church (or another public access point along Spruceton Road), and camp and explore nature at another creek nestled in a private 5-acre forest we own 15 minutes away on the back of Hunter Mountain (instructions provided with check-in)!
Enjoy mountains and trout creeks all around. Drive 15 Minutes to Tannersville, Phoenicia and Windham Villages for great restaurants and more. Hike to North Dome, Devil's Path+!
A pristine shallow (1-2 ft deep) West Kill creek, a source of drinking water in NYC, is just across the street. It is rejuvenating, filled with trout, and is great fun for grown ups and kids of all ages. Chipmunks, woodchucks, deer and hummingbirds are abundant for nature spectating.
Enjoy the latest climate control, hot water and newest appliances, as well as comfortable beds and a full kitchen, in this 1800's converted farmhouse with preserved original touches and unobstructed mountain views!
Grab the best views and the freshest air! Enjoy the beauty of an exquisite 19-century village, with all the modern comforts. Indulge in nature and hiking and in the charm of local villages and neighboring Tannersville.
Enjoy clear air and tranquility.
Yes, we have WiFi, brand-new washer/dryer, renovated kitchen and bathroom, plates and silverware!

9. Horseriding: Mountain Brook Farm and Dancing Horse Farm in Windham.
8. If you like history: a former Colgate mansion, is now a Deer Mountain Inn, and is open to the public as a restaurant.
7. Windham movie theater: you sit on plush couches, enjoying food, while watching a big-screen performance.
6. Local brew: West Kill brewing at the end of Spruceton Road.
5. Hangout: Spruceton Inn was once a haunt of Arnold Swartzenegger.
4. Culture: Tannersville offers a number of options, including art galleries and music venues. Tannersville also has the best fun lunch: Mama's Boy in Tannersville is a pure joy.
3. Hiking: We are within 5-15 minutes from the best hiking trails Catskills has to offer. Trails lead up Hunter Mountain to the fire tower from the end of the Spruceton road.
2. Dining: Peek-a-Moose in Pine Hill is a tasteful dinner conglomerate run by ex-Gramercy Tavern chef that includes a formal dining room, great bar with local beer, and an outdoor fire pit with cocktail service and s'mores. Phoenicia Diner is cool and Phoenician Steakhouse makes great steak. For best ribs ever and great kid-friendly food, head out to Chicken Run in Windham. Our French friends' favorite Shandaken Inn offers tasteful and civilized contemporary take on haute French food. If you long for a hip Williamsburg vibe, head over to Chappies in Roxbury.
1. Breathtaking endless mountain views from the back garden! The best place to enjoy the cleanest air and watch the clouds go by as you kick back with a local beer or a glass of wine!
