About this property
THE CAPTAIN'S HOUSE - DEER ISLAND NB - WATERFRONT - SUNRISES
This house was built by Captain George W. Cook in early 1800s. He was the Captain of a merchant sailing vessel called the Jed F. Duren. a large vessel at 112 tonnes. Materials to build the house were brought in on a barge from Nova Scotia and a crew from Gloucester, Mass built the house. 2 of Captain George W Cook's original navigation maps are mounted in the house. One in the current Captain's Master Bedroom and one in the living room. This house is really cool and the water and sunset views are amazing!!
This house is not child friendly (under 8 years) or for anyone with mobility issues.
This century home that has been refurbished over the years to today's standard of comfort and safety. It is all quite original inside and has a calm and inviting personality. It is now owned by a Captain Parker - a local lobster fisherman.
Come see....The Old Sow, the largest tidal whirlpool in the western hemisphere - viewed from Deer Island Point Park.

About the host
Hosted by Lisa

Mike is a lobster fisherman on Deer Island and Lisa is an IT professional who does consulting work and manages the family businesses. We love the water - on the water, under the water, and just looking at the water... throw in beautiful sunsets and we are in heaven and you will be too!
Why they chose this property
This place is magical is all I can say - it has 220 years of character and personality with all the modern comforts. Your front yard is the ocean and you can see the harbour bouy lights at night from your bed in the Captain's Master Suite. We use this property year around and during lobster season as crew quarters. But it is such a cool place that we wanted to open up some weeks to share this place with others and you are helping us with the maintenance and upkeep of this old house :)
What makes this property unique
Peaceful with sound of the ocean - and front row seat to harbour "traffic"
