We loved it. The ocean view is awesome with beautiful views of the sunset. We saw seals, eagles and herons within a 1/2 hour of checking in. Easy check in and out.

Happy to be back again

Great exterior deck and interior updates since we last stayed 7 years ago. We enjoyed birding and whale watching from the deck during the day and evenings around the fire during our September visit (but make sure to bring your preferred bug spray).

Everything was exactly as advertised. Location and cabin are excellent. We saw bald eagles and porpoise from the deck. We did a whale watch and saw 3 humpback whales. My only suggestion would be a larger tv in the living room

A truly wonderful property to fully commune with Mother Nature's grandeur, while visiting the Island.Bald Eagles were everywhere, along with heron, porpoise, seals and even the occasional whale, this late in the season. Not to mention fishing boats, whale watching boats, commercial freighters and cruise ships passing by as well, all visible from the cottage and the back deck. The spot is ideal, sitting up on a cliff, overlooking 'Head Harbour Passage', with western skies visible in the evenings.A great location for easy access to Head Harbour Lighthouse (1 mi), kayak launching (1 mi), fresh seafood (1/2 mi) and a small island convenience store (1 mi).There are two beautiful parks and a whale watching tour company on the other side of the island (7 to 8 mi), including the renowned Roosevelt Campobello International Park, almost exclusively free-of-charge. Don't miss an opportunity to attend "Eleanor's Tea", which will surely leave you with a lasting impression of Eleanor Roosevelt's contributions to the local area, the Country and the World.Life is short, fragile and 'someday' is not guaranteed. If you can, make time in your busy lives to come experience this place...... you won't be disappointed.Reserved this property for 4 nights, during the week, in late September 2026, for a visit with a Childhood Friend and their Spouse. If you want peace and quiet, along with an over the top spectacular view, this is the perfect place! So enjoyable to sit back and watch the tide move in and out, observe eagles and gulls and keep an eye out for porpoises, whales, and otters. The cottage is comfortable, and full of interesting collectables, art and books about the region. Dennis was a fantastic host - very helpful and responsive to any question or need. It was such an enjoyable stay - I can't wait to get back!

You can see how the people who started the summer community on Campobello in 1880 understood the uniqueness of Campobello Island to escape the big cities of New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto and Montreal! You don't have to be from a mega city to enjoy. We came from Evansville, Indiana which is a medium size city in 1988 and still love the change to New England and New Brunswick in the summer after 38 years! ! Hope we meet again! Beautiful and peaceful

We had a wonderful stay at Whale of a View. We had an amazing view and spent hours watching eagles catching fish from the decks. Cozy house with everything we needed. The owner is very nice and called to check in with us as a major storm was approaching. Everything was amazing and we are looking forward to coming back!

Whale of a view indeed!!

Everything was smooth and seamless to rent this wonderful and stunning gem! The views were spectacular not only from the porch and screened in porch, but from the bedroom, from the yard and then also from the beautiful gazebo down near the water. The cottage is spacious, clean and has everything you could want. I most certainly will look to stay here if I am back in this beautiful area. Top notch!!

Peaceful Stay

The house is very comfortable with great living atea, screened deck and patio. Saw minke whale every day. Bring your binoculars! The Pier was a nice laid back restaurant but options limited. Beaches are great for pebble and sea glass hunts. Roosevelt Park is very interesting and beautiful… all free. Border crossing takes 5-10 minutes from your car. Very easy. Dennis, property owner, is friendly and helpful. Do not wait to get groceries on island. Stores have very little, including spices. Last big store is in Machias. IGA in Lubec had good selection, though. However, house kitchen could use a good nonstick pan for at home cooking. Brought our own knife. Pictures do not do this place justice. Lovely view out of windows. Fire pit fantastic. We were able to get some wood at Village grocery on island ( but no salt! LOL). Dennis also gave us some, too. Bring bug spray but a light dosing and mosquitoes stayed away. Beautiful stars.HIGHLY RECOMMEND visit.

We spent 4 great days on Campobello. The cottage was perfect with comfortable indoor and outdoor spaces. The deck and screened porch were where we spent most of our time. The tranquility of the setting overlooking the water made for a relaxing stay. We experienced all types of weather from brilliant sunshine to gale force winds, rain and thunder and lighting. There was plenty to do around the island; beachcombing, hiking and exploring the Roosevelt International Park. We would come back again!

Perfect Week of Relaxation

This is our second summer staying at Dennis’s property and certainly won’t be our last! The view can’t be beat, we spent most of our days sitting on the decks on the lookout for whales. Dennis was the perfect host and everything we needed was available.

Pleasantly surprised and pleased overall!

The property itself was just what my family was looking for in a waterside view vacation. The only thing I would comment on are a few amenities such as the kitchen sink, bathroom sink and shower which all could use an upgrade as well as the bedroom pillows which were very flat and uncomfortable.

So glad Nancy and her group had a great experience. We strive to have the oceanfront properties be better than the pictures which Nancy seems to have thought with her wonderful comment "Pleasantly surpirsed" I have to say I haven't had any complaints about the stainless steel kitchen sink, the bathroom sink, which we replaced last year or the pillows. I know that I am very sensitive to certain types of pillows and I have started traveling with one that works for me. I hope Nancy can return to one of our private oceanfront cottages again!

Spectacular views and sunsets!

Awesome. Great cottage in a rustic setting to enjoy marine wildlife including whales from the comfort of the deck overlooking the bay. The owners were very pleasant and accomodating. Perfect experience. John, Theresa, Jack and Kim.
