About this property

Large MDI house w/pool perfect for groups+families

My aim was to create different spaces that would meet all the moods that may take you on a vacation. On the first floor you will find a large living space with cozy couch and a 55” smart tv, for those evenings where the whole family wants to chill out and watch movies. There is also a quieter reading area at the end of the living space with a comfy chaise and chair, perfect for getting lost in a good book but close enough to still feel involved. The ground floor has a large kitchen with all the essentials you could need to make this house feel like your home. The dining area has a large round table ideal for those evening feasts. There's also a deck off the kitchen/dining area for eating al fresco. You will also find two large queen bedrooms on this level, tucked away from the main heart of the house for a quiet night’s sleep.

Upstairs you will find three bedrooms and a bathroom. The first is a large master bedroom with a king bed, a second king bedroom and the third is a bunk room with a twin bed and twin over a full bunk bed. All these bedrooms have large, built-in closets.

The lower level has a full bathroom and additional sleeping space. The game room also has a foosball table, dart board, TV with games consoles and a bar area with a built-in fridge, offering a great space for kids and adults to unwind together.

Nice part of Mt Desert Island
This is tucked away in Tremont and was very private. Definitely a great place to stay if you want to spend time on the “Quiet side” of the island which I recommend highly.

Great Acadia retreat!
This house served as a great "home base" for our family of ten (ages 4 to 75) as we enjoyed all Acadia had to offer. The house was rustic but spacious with lots of space to sleep, gather or find some solitude to read a book. Lots of wildlife, including deer in the backyard and frogs in the pool! 😳. The yard and pool area were a little overgrown and could have used a little more upkeep, but the kids swam for hours even though it was chilly.

About the host

Host profile image
Hey, I'm Jeff, and I was born in Ohio and and have lived in New York, Boston, Washington, DC, San Francisco and Maine. Extensive travel in India and SE Asia with several visits to Europe, Japan and South America.

In addition to travel, I love to cook and generally go out of my way to treat every meal as if it's my last on earth. I owned a top restaurant in Manhattan for years, then moved to DC to head up food and nutrition for the public school system. In Brooklyn, I founded Genuine Foods, a food service management company that serves high-quality, scratch-made meals in schools, business cafeterias, and universities. Last year, we served over 7,000 meals/day and sourced locally as much as possible. All just to say ... I've been fortunate to develop a deep understanding of and appreciation for New York's people, food, agriculture, and artisans. I'm happy to be welcoming guests to a city I know and love, and even happier to offer them a well-stocked kitchen. To me, ideal accommodations combine the comfort and personality of a home with the luxury amenities you'd find in a hotel. I operated on that philosophy when designing my rental unit, and I look forward to offering guests a true haven in one of the most amazing cities in the world.

Why they chose this property

The area of Seal Cove is one of the many gorgeous treasures you will find tucked away off the beaten path on Mount Desert Island. Locals refer to this part of the island as the “quiet side," offering a much more tranquil stay. The area is in the southwest corner of Mount Desert Island near the more well-known Bass Harbor. A visit to the Lighthouse is a must, where you can experience a sunset like no other. Other well-known areas of the island are easily accessible. You can be at the famous Carriage Trails and Mount Cadillac within 20 minutes and over to the famous Bar Harbor in less than 30.

What makes this property unique

Located in Seal Cove, this hidden getaway is ideal for families wanting a slice of the Maine life. The in-ground pool will provide hours of fun for the whole family and with major hiking trails just around the corner, Long Pond less than 5 mins drive and the lovely Southwest Harbor within 15 mins, this house is perfect for those seeking a quiet getaway that still has all the bustling parts of the island within easy reach.
