Perfect accommodations for our multi-generational family gathering. Lots of space for our group of 13 to find one’s quiet spot, both in the house and outside. Active neighborhood with walkers and bikers, which gave us motivation to join them! A one mile walk into town to grab coffee and browse the local shops. The access to the kayaks and paddle board made for a perfect beach front vacation; with size options of life jackets and water shoes to choose from!John was a great host while there and top notch on the communication leading up to our stay. We would definitely stay here again for future gatherings.
Our family enjoyed time sitting by the ocean, by the pool and walks in the area.
John, our property manager, was excellent.
Looking forward to returning with our family soon.
This property has it all…… and more!
I love that we found it above expectations. We never lacked for anything. The ice-maker is a great amenity!
Thank you so much for sharing your good fortune with us.
It was a special wedding weekend. This house provided a wonderful space to enjoy family and friends who had traveled long distances to celebrate our son’s wedding festivities in the bride’s hometown. The views of the Sound from the screened in porch and the private beach made it all the more special.
All was great. John and Terry were excellent hosts - very responsive, communicative, friendly. The home was perfect for our family annual gathering, with people from 1 - 80 years old. Highly recommend.
Great Beach House for Large Family/Friends Gathering!
We stayed in this wonderful beach house with six adults and four kids for a week, and it was fantastic! Overall, the house was clean, well maintained, and most importantly, the air conditioning worked well on all three floors! There is plenty of room to spread out in the house, the beach and pool are great, the beach amenities were a hit with the whole family (e.g., kayaks, paddleboard, pavilion, and beach chairs), and the location couldn't be better! We had a couple minor issues during our stay, but the owner was very responsive and quickly resolved them. While it didn't negatively affect our stay, the kitchen and most of the bathrooms are a bit outdated and could use a refresh to put them on par with the rest of this beautiful house. Regardless, we highly recommend this beach house for a large family/friends gathering, and we hope to stay here again in the future!
This was the perfect accommodation for our extended family to enjoy our annual reunion. During our 2-week stay we had various relatives join us for 1 to 10-night visits. Over the Labor Day weekend we had 16 people from 6 months to 73 (me) years of age. There was plenty of common space and the 9 bedrooms were all clean and comfortable. This is a very big cottage, but the air conditioning was perfect on all 3 floors. The private beach was perfect for swimming to the fixed raft, launching the 5 watercrafts, or just sitting in the shade of the gazebo. A rock island was available for exploration and the protected Tuxis Island was nearby for viewing from the ocean kayaks. Everyone enjoyed the very clean swimming pool. The owner was in the adjacent cottage and briefed us on all the amenities (bikes, water toys, water shoes, etc.). We had one small issue with the washing machine - John showed up within 10 minutes and repaired it himself. Madison is a great location for a relaxing vacation - we've rented several locations, and this was definitely the best.
Beautiful view, lots of space for a big family, great location
We had a wonderful time at John's home this past weekend. We had 11 people and plenty of room with lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. Worth noting there are no bathtubs if you have small children. The view from the sunroom is gorgeous at all times of day, the kitchen is well stocked, Middle Beach Rd. is the perfect place to take a walk, the pool was a huge bonus... The home is definitely older but everything was clean and in working condition!
House was great for 17 family members, ages 10-75. House clean and lots of kitchen utensils for a large group. Kids loved pool, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding. Beach is across the street with pavilion and easy access to low-tide beach. We loved Everton out our stay there.
This property was just magical with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The house is charming, warm and inviting. The owners were prompt and courteous, every question was answered quickly; we wanted for nothing. We would rent again from John. We could not have had a better place for our family to gather and reconnect. The time spent, the house, the view and of course our family time made this time so special. It is a house where memories are made and family are reconnected! Thank you!
We loved the location of the house and the size. It’s three levels, and the rooms are only on the second and third-floor, but it has so many rooms it is perfect for a family reunion. The kitchen is outdated but has the charm of the rest of the home. John was a very very responsive property manager. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone who is planning a large gathering.
Once again, a gorgeous vacation stay with 9 of my best friends. We swam in the sound, took walks on the beach, wrote, read and laughed. THE BEST house for a large group. Everything was so easy to get to. John is flexible, attentive and always around. You can watch the sunset and the sunrise from this house and take long walks. The gorgeous state park with miles of beach is about a 4 min drive. GREAT kitchen with two ovens. Plenty of everything. We loved it!!! Thank you again John.
We meet every year…11 of us. We have been college friends for 52 years. We loved the house. We are already planning for next year. The amount of bedrooms and bathrooms are perfect for a large group. We always have a formal dinner at night and the table was large enough for all of us to be comfortable. The setting across the street is great for relaxing with a glass of wine. It is tough to please eleven 71 year olds..
It was easy at this house…everyone loved it!! Thank you for a wonderful stay.
This property was absolutely perfect for our family reunion after a LONG Covid separation. The waterfront location is gorgeous, the house is warm, homey, well-appointed and expansive enough to serve the needs of 20 of us - 15 adults and 5 children. Between the beach and the pool, we were in heaven and there was a nook and cranny for everyone’s pursuits - from a quiet reading to a lush lawn for a game of Corn Hole, from a kayak ride on LI Sound to an hour of children enjoying their coloring books on the front porch overlooking the beach! The Fords were quick to respond to every message and were delightful hosts sharing their amazing property with us! We hope to return! ❤️
A large spacious house that let everyone spread out or get together in groups. Porch is enclosed, so you could be on it any time. The home has everything you could need. The Pavilion on the water was another great place to hang out and watch the birds and clouds. Located in a very walkable area with town beaches to visit nearby. Plus, nearby was Hammonassett to watch sunsets on the beach, Clinton to kayak in marsh waters, as well as a trip to kayak around the Thimble Islands.
Overall, we were extremely pleased. There were 12 adult post-retirement brothers and sisters (all 60+ years) and in-laws celebrating a reunion. Eight bedrooms with lots of king size beds was a great attraction. The public rooms were big. The private beach and pavilion a delight!
We had a great time in John Ford's house. We used the shared pool and the beach area every day. The house is roomy and spacious enough for the whole family of 15 people. There is a lot to do in the area, Mystic Aquarium and Seaport and pick your own peaches and blueberries are a few minutes away and bike rides every afternoon. Mr. Ford was very helpful and couldn't have been any nicer. It was a relaxing and very enjoyable vacation. Thank you.
This Gorgeous Spacious Beach House was Perfect for our Family of 15 Beach Week! (Us, our 3 children and their spouses and seven grandchildren.) 1st Time in 6 Years we were All Together because our Daughter from Germany Showed up to Surprise us! The children especially Loved the Pool and cozy large screen TV movie corner! We All Loved the Large enclosed Porch and private areas and outside Grill! Our Private Beach with Pavillion and Dock to swim out to in the Ocean provided even More Fun! We had an Amazing Week of Family Fun! We also drove a short distance to Meig's Point Nature Center and Walked to an Outside Movie on the Beach down the road at the Madison Beach Hotel! Thank-You John! We Loved your Home & Hospitality!

We were excited and honored to purchase this estate property on Long Island Sound in 2018. Originally built in 1917 by two brothers from Philadelphia, it was in the same family for almost 100 years until purchased in 2018, by a new family! The entire property is actually two twin homes, both a west home and an east home on the water in Madison. The homes were built as grand summer "cottages", though each one is more than 4,000 square feet. We love our time in Madison. You'll love it too.
Why they chose this property
Nothing better than being on the water in Madison. The quintessential New England town. Beach in front with a shaded pavilion, as well as a swim float just offshore. With kayaks and an SUP, and a dinghy just for fun!
What makes this property unique
Perfect for large extended families, we get a lot of grandparents, grown kids, and grandkids. All loving the beach, ocean, pool and front yard for yard games.
Plus, we get a good number of reunions from college graduations of years gone by. As well as friends of the bridal party for weddings held at the Madison Beach Club down the street, and at Madison Beach Hotel.
