About this property
Villa Shamrock 2 bedroom beachfront villa
A fabulous opportunity to rent a direct beachfront, two-bedroom, two-bathroom villa in the highly regarded, St. James’s Club Resort. Villa Shamrock (426) is being made available for the first time from the owners and is a great opportunity for those seeking to rent a beach level villa. The private, secure, gated resort community is situated on beautiful Mamora Bay, minutes from historic English Harbour, a World Heritage Site.
Shamrock is one of only a handful of beachside properties within the St James’s Club complex that is far enough away from the hotel complex to enjoy the sense of being on a private beach although it is also close enough that guests can take full advantage of the many facilities which this famous resort has on offer.
Although the kitchen is fully equipped with all modern conveniences – fridge freezer with ice maker, dishwasher, large oven and four ring hob , toaster, electric kettle, coffee machine as well as mixer, blender, microwave oven and so on – visitors also have the option to register with the hotel for its all-inclusive food and drinks package which covers three meals a day at the hotel’s suite of restaurants, all drinks and snacks at the beachside and poolside bars, as well the the drinks cart which throughout the day prowls up and down the beach.
When in the house or on the beach but not too far from the villa, guests have a access to Shamrock’s own high speed Internet router but when out of reach there is the option to connect to St James’s own complimentary internet which spans the entire resort.
The south-facing villa itself comprises two double en-suite bedrooms, one with a super king-sized double bed, the other with twin beds which can be configured individually or seamlessly as a further super king. The bathrooms are appointed to a high standard. Both bedrooms lie on the lower ground floor which through large sliding doors lead onto the lower verandah which in turn opens straight onto the beach.
The open-plan kitchen which hosts the main front door to the villa lies on a half floor between the bedrooms and a large open living-dining room which again speaks of home rather than a targeted holiday let. Although there is a large round glass-topped dining table with six chairs, both owners and guests generally prefer to sit at the long eight-seater table on the large upper balcony from which one has a splendid view of the beach, the bay and in the evening of the often spectacular sunsets.Nothing beats that moment when the sea seemingly turns to gold. The balcony is also home to a low round cable with four chairs, ideal for pre-dinner cocktails. The Weber kettle barbecue is also there to be enjoyed.
The St James’s Club is a well established private hotel and villa resort bordered by the ocean-side Coco beach as well as the one facing the calm Mamora Bay, the lagoon on which the villa sits. It enjoys 24/7 private security coverage and is therefore reputed for its safety. Guests have the use of the resort’s sailing boats, paddle boards and kayaks, all of which are under permanent oversight by the capable, friendly and well trained watersports team.
Although it sits on a land spur off its own, the resort is also only a 10 minute drive from the restaurants and bars of the world renowned super-yacht berths of Falmouth and the world heritage site of Nelson’s Dockyard at English Harbour which dates back to the 18th century and which was at one time commanded by Horatio Nelson himself. Dotted around English Harbour is a clutch of Georgian hilltop forts, the most famous of which is at Shirley Heights were a music and party night is held on Thursdays and Sundays. The so-called Jump-Up is not to be missed.
Antigua’s capital St John’s is a forty minute drive to the north. Taxis can be booked through the hotel reception at which all guests are required to check in at arrival and out again at departure.
The price of the villa includes maid service. It is cleaned twice a week and sheets are changed weekly. The maid will help with laundry at agreed cost to the guests.
The owner knows that damage and breakages can occur. Minor things will not be charged for although they would very much appreciate such matters being reported upon departure. Larger issues will be noted by the rental agents and be deducted from the deposit.
Rates include 14% ABST - Antigua and Barbuda sales tax

About the host
Hosted by Alistair Forrest

Originally from Scotland and having grown up and spent many years in Jersey, Channel Islands, my hospitality career took me to many countries but I landed in Antigua in 1992 and have been here on and off ever since. Our company, Stanley’s Estates manages several villas and we offer holiday rentals as part of what we do as realtors. Our co host Robertha, our property manager, John and I, Alistair take care to look after all our guests.
Why they chose this property
Villa shamrock is located right on the water and its lovely almost idyllic setting for those seeking a resort environment but away from centre of activity.
What makes this property unique
Its beachfront location makes Shamrock really special. Balmy evenings on the upstairs patio, cocktails and bbqs under the stars.
