About this property

Pauanui Oceanside beach house

We invite genuine, family orientated people to come and enjoy the excellent lifestyle this unique area offers. Our home is architecturally designed, comfortable and is located very close to the ocean beach. Great for summer, with its large front, yet secluded, terrace and gas fired BBQ. It is ideal for entertaining, or just sitting looking at the ocean, some 50 metres down the reserve. Winter is something special at Pauanui Oceanside. The warmth of the wood-burner fire with fans that distribute warmth throughout the home. The serenity of the area makes it a great way to entertain your family, friends and business associates. There are many activities in the area including restaurants and cafes,a small shopping center including a mini supermarket, bakery and video shop, 3 golf courses, mini golf, skate board bowl, walks, parks, boating, fishing, ocean or harbour swimming, horse riding and it's not far from famous Hot Water Beach and beautiful Cathedral Cove. Most of all it's a great place to relax and get away from it all.

NOTE: we do not provide a linen service. There are blankets on the beds but you will need to bring your own sheets and towels.

Everything was in tip-top shape when we arrived, as usual. This is a wonderful place to stay! It's so close to the beach and has an awesome front verandah to 'blob' out on, and also another verandah out the back of the house for days that it's too windy out the front. We always enjoy our stay there. This time I stayed there with 3 of my girlfriends and they loved the place too. Highly recommended for a lazy-type holiday.

Brilliant kitchen and outside eating/sitting areas, big inside area with big table and lounge area for everyone to fit and relax together. Fridge was a bit under par, didn't keep food cold enough.Bathrooms great, lots of hot water and outside shower brilliant for after ocean swims. Upstairs bunk room great size and lots of space for the kids to hang out, however too hot for lots of people to sleep overnight even with our fans going, needs air con as the blinds are noisy when the windows are left open. All in all we had an awesome stay, highly recommend this lovely house! The photos don't do it justice, totally wow! Thanks.

Pauanui Fun

We had a great stay, the house was well set up for a large group and had everything we needed. It was so close to the beach and lovely to be able to walk down there to check out the conditions with a hot cup of coffee in hand. The kids had a blast and so did the adults. Thanks for having us!

We love Pauanui!

Stayed for 2 nights 17th & 18th Jan./24. Awesome house with everything there that one would need - to have a great holiday by the beach. Love the front deck - plenty of comfy chairs out there for people to while away the days...... Lots of beds and a nice, roomy kitchen and lounge area that lends itself to great family conversations. We all enjoyed it very much. Booked for next year already. Love the house and love that beach!!

Perfect traditional Kiwi bach

We had a lovely stay for a few days in Pauanui - a group of 9 fit comfortably, and the fire in winter was lovely. This bach is rustic - down to the delightful mismatched glasses obviously collected over the generations of family who have used it - which is part of its charm. Great place for kids and teens.

Great location

This was a great location and roomy accommodation for a large group (11) however we did feel when having to supply our own linen that we shouldn’t be expected to unmake the beds and remake them for the owners before leaving. Some of the old outdoor furniture could also be discarded.

AWESOME HOLIDAY AT PAUAUNUI! (Jan.2023)

This awesome 1970s holiday home is worth its weight in gold! Our extended family has stayed here several times before and we always have a great time! The weather was a bit windy & the coastline of the fabulous beach had been gobbled up by the recent cyclone, but we walked, swam, strummed guitars & sang, & had lots of fun. All our family loves staying at this holiday home. The owner (Rowan) is very nice too. The house is well-stocked with everything you could want for your holiday. Pauaunui is such a unique place to have a holiday with the extended family. (We were 3 generations.) It's not very often we can all get together like this - and it's just magical when we do. Thankyou Rowan, for offering your lovely beach house as a holiday home!

Nice location. Close to beach. Has main amenities and close to local shops. Only gave 1 rubbish bag for a 4 day stay. And only 4 rolls of toilet paper for 10 people for a 4 day stay. That was the only downside

Wonderful location

The group had a lovely stay at Pauanui, the house is so close to the beach and the view is lovely. Ideal for bigger groups with plenty of space!! Kim was amazing to communicate with and very helpful.
