About this property

Harbor Delight on the Bay - All the modern amenities plus a Private Sandy Beach!

This modern home has all the amenities needed to give you the comfort you desire in a vacation home. We are Pet Friendly (fees apply) and offer off street parking in our garage (please keep driveway clear as it is shared with a neighbor). This Beach House consists of 4 Bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms, an attached garage, a back deck with a retractable awning, a large backyard that is perfect for your 4 legged friends, beautiful waterfront views from the west side of the home, and best of all we are right on the water.

This home does have a large Master Bedroom on the first or bottom floor. In addition it has a ramp on the back deck that can easily allow a wheel chair to access the home and all the downstairs amenities.

Our private little beach is perfect for swimming and wading.
For the fishermen, we have caught croaker, spot, blues, strippers and flounder all from the shore of our private beach!
It's a perfect place to launch canoes and kayaks, and I offer them for a small fee. Please contact me about them.
We've just installed a large 65" Smart TV on which you can stream your favorite services like Neflix, Hulu, Disney, etc.

Quiet hours begin at 9 PM.

This is a Family/Residential unit and area. No loud music or noise.

• There are NO PARTIES ALLOWED! We are in a quiet, tight-knit, residential community. Our neighbors will not hesitate to report any excessive noise to the Police and to us! Immediate eviction with **NO REFUND** will result if there is a party on the property.

Big house for big family

Our family of 9 stayed at the house. We had plenty of room. My son fished at the pier which was within walking distance. We had a few issues with kitchen items missing. I called Kathleen and George and they fixed the problem quickly. They bought us all the supplies we needed in a timely manner. They were great hosts. We had our boat and enjoyed the city of Norfolk from the waterside. The ramp was just around the corner. All in all we had a great time and this house was very spacious for large groups. Thanks for letting us visit your city!!!!

It was clean and quiet, just what I needed. The deck could be replaced and the ants were really bad. The chairs in the room where the tv was, something bit my friend on his legs. Otherwise it was great.

My husband & I were nervous about renting from strangers, but our hosts were kind, & extremely patient with us. The house was clean, comfortable, well appointed, & conveniently located being so close to both the beach, & all of the shops a vacationer might want to visit to stock up on necessities.

Communication was fantastic . Questions answers before and after booking! The space was fantastic. They are making improvements to the property, everything isn’t pristine but it was great for us. The linen was new and some of the matresses too. We went off season so didn’t spent too much time outdoors but the beach access is a block away.Quiet neighbors, friendly people. Even saw a cat come passing through, lol. We came by RV so we used most of our own cookware. The kitchen appeared to be stocked with most things needed. Plenty of prep space, appliances are fairly new. We made use of the washer and dryer, older but worked amazing! The only thing the kids didn’t love was only one tv . We are restricted use kind of parents so not too much tablets. I found this to be great after the second night as we played games and family time. The sofa came in handy for that too! Plenty of grocery stores in the area. We are a family of 8 with ages from 6- teens alike. We were visiting our son in Newport News for this trip and hope to go back again!

Great House - large and clean. There were a few items that could use attention. Upstairs shower has a slow drain and toilet runs, the coffee maker handle was loose and could easily come off. The kitchen could use a few more items but overall great house and location. Thank you!

The house is in an ok location. The size of the house was good for the six of us. The house needs a lot of TLC. Minimal kitchen supplies-only two kitchen towels and no dish clothes, no pot holders or scissors. The house is not worth the price we paid.

We enjoyed our stay- lots of room, loved the high ceilings, large kitchen, private beach and plenty of room on the couch for everyone to hang out. The photos do need a little updating as black couch living room now has 2 love seats and one of the twin beds was in the downstairs king room but other than that and some wall scuff marks, small holes in upstairs bedrooms and a little wear and tear the house was fine for the weekend. I will say- bring your own kitchen things like paper plates, extra cutlery, paper towels, tinfoil etc as they were low on/did not provide those items. Beds were also pretty comfortable and we enjoyed lots of room for our friends and family members.

Very spacious. Very discouraging compared to multiple vrbo homes that we have stayed at throughout the years. Over have the lights were burned out or did not work. The wifi name given to use was not listed as a choice. Had to go trial and error to find the correct one to use. With a house so large with so many bedrooms, more than one tv would of been nice. Ice maker didn't work. Mastered bedroom window leaks as it rained our entire stay. Poor water pressure in both showers. One toilet didn't work, didn't refill with water after one use. Dryer didn't work after told to dry towels upon leaving. No laundry detergent or dryer sheets. Coffee pot dirty. Kitchen utensils/supplies very understocked. Multiple dishes/bowls cracked or chipped. Silverware, not enough for family of 6.

The pictures did not match the house- one major plus was that it was more spacious than I expected, larger dining table that pictured. There were many other things that didn’t match. The biggest difference was the set up in the bedrooms - 2 twin beds in one of the rooms instead of what was on listing - we made due. The house itself had lots of potential and could benefit from updated decor and amenities - more and nicer towels and blankets would be appreciated. There was some items that we’ve come to expect in the rentals nowadays including shampoo and conditioner, coffee, some condiments, at least to get started… but nothing. We ended up deciding not to cook at all on the house because of the condition of the pots and pans, some were blackened and on others the coating was peeling. The one TV of the house did not work, it was very slow so it took patience to log into, only to be logged out every 5 minutes. We planned one night in to watch movies and after many attempts, we gave up. I reached out to owners about TV, I figured this would be an easy fix but after trying their recommendations we stopped trying to watch TV altogether. The outside space should be cleaned up, lots of clutter along the sides which takes away from the space. One additional item that was missing was detergent for the washer and dryer, which could be considered an extra perk, but one of the requirements for checking out was to wash towels before leaving. The location was easy access to the naval base.

Spacious Home on the Bay!!

We rented this Beautiful home on the Bay when we went to visit our son in Virginia. As a frequent renter of VRBO homes back in Arizona my suggestions are :add more kitchen supplies, update furniture, and add some patio furniture to the deck so guests can enjoy the view . Check in and out was very easy and host was very responsive and quick when we had a “lock” problem. The neighborhood is very quiet and the neighbors were very friendly.

Wonderful house, right on the bay!

Loved this house! We had a truly great time. Private beach right on the bay just outside your back door, and Virginia Beach only 20 mins away. We also walked to the other side of the spit, facing the ocean in a few mins. Wow. Grandkids and their parents, and even we older folks had a wonderful time. Greatest hosts and the house is so so so great! Had the best time ever. Thank you!

Worst Ever!!!!!

The pictures of the house are very misleading. In the laundry room there's a large hole in the ceiling the master room water stains above the window. Was charged a cleaning fee and yet the house was not cleaned upon arrival. The towels provided didn't smell fresh. The floors were dirty. I was very disappointed with what I paid for would not come back nor recommend this place to anyone.

Quite a lovely place! Quick 2-block walk to the Bay and about a 30 minute drive to the ocean front in VA Beach. First time renting a house at the beach, so I wasn't sure what to expect from the owners, but they were great! I would definitely go again.

Amazing!

We had a wonderful time, all necessary items were available as listed on VRBO. Hosts were very responsive to all requests and communications. This property was perfect for our group of 8 adults and one child, had no reason to leave the property as there was plenty of room for everything we wanted or needed to do, even in the rain we were able to enjoy the back deck using the awning!

Nice, but needs some maintence

We enjoyed our stay. The house was nice enough and even larger than we expected. However, there were many things that needed to be repaired/maintained. The blinds going out to the deck were broken and bunched up to the side. Actually, none of the blinds in the main living area would open. Some didn't even have the cord to pull attached. In the kitchen a cabinet door was broken and barely on. Limited kitchen supplies, which wasn't an issue for us as it was a short stay. However, if you are planning on cooking a lot this could be an issue. Many of the walls had scuff marks and dirt on them. Overall it could just use a little TLC. But a great size and nice for the price. It is also within walking distance to the public beach which we enjoyed.

Nice house

The house has an ant problem. The furniture, specifically dining chairs were broken. The kitchen was not well stocked with basics. A smattering of dishes, glasses, and eating utensils. The sliding glass door was broken and the window treatment for the door was not in good condition. The deck was nice but there was no table so it was not usable.

Ants in master bathroom, be prepared to spray before settling in. No laundry detergent so bring your own. beware before using towels upon arrival as each tenant is responsible to wash towels after their stay per instructions, before you leave. Only one roll of toilet paper in each bathroom, so bring your own TP. No dishwashing tablets so bring your own or simply hand wash dishes. Living room furniture is pretty much pet furniture, dilapidated not very comfortable for family space. Furniture is very old and unclean, felt like a living room for dogs only. Nice TV but uncomfortable location to enjoy with family unit due to space and old tired furniture. Bedrooms and upstairs ad half bathroom were clean and no ants.

Our stay at Harbor Delight was great! The house was even larger than we expected and came with kayaks and a small private beach on the bay. It was extremely spacious and was perfect for our group of 6 adults. Check-in was very quick and easy. The master bedroom was very large and came with a large bathroom which was very convenient. I will say, however, that this part of Norfolk was not the greatest in terms of things to do or quality of the surrounding area. If you’re looking for a traditional beach vacation, this may not be the best place to stay. Additionally, the upstairs of this house smelled strongly of body odor and we had to purchase febreeze and air fresheners to help get it to go away. Otherwise, this house was perfect for what we needed it for.

Great getaway

We had a great time visiting Norfolk. We just wanted a few days away with our toddlers and our parents. The house was clean, spacious, and baby friendly. The small beach on the property was clean and protected from waves. The community beach across the street was also clean and not at all crowded. This was a convenient spot for some family fun. I'd highly recommend renting this house, especially during the pandemic when you're trying to avoid dining out and crowds.
