Winters in Crested Butte are something special. The Overlook captures winter in a unique and very special way. You will have full views of winter storms rolling through the mountains like you have never seen before. A few things to keep in mind - heavy snow can change the pace at which things happen. Mountain passes like Monarch Pass can close, roads will become icy, flights will be delayed or not happen at all, so guests will have to remain flexible and be prepared for changed conditions.
A few things specific for this house pertaining to winter weather: the deck could be covered in snow for days or weeks at a time as crews catch up after a big storm. The plow may show up at 5am or 2 days later, I am subscribed to the largest plowing company in Crested Butte but that does not guarantee a plow shows up at the perfect time. The driveway could accumulate deep snow. It can be icy while getting back on the road. The plow will plow up snow berms and you may need to shovel around your vehicle. You will have to be careful to not block the plow and/or shuffle vehicles while the plow works. The snow can accumulate so high, that your dog can walk right over the fence. The roof can shed snow and ice. Do not try to walk or ski down the steep embankment to fields below, it can avalanche and bury you or your dog.
Winter presents new challenges that make it fun and very special, but it has to be taken seriously at times. The ground can become covered in deep snow from just the wind blowing. When walking in town or at ski area, the roof can shed and bury you at any moment even on sunny days. Vehicles can slide off the road very easily. Walking can be slippery. Object under the snow will be hidden.
Welcome to your perfect Crested Butte getaway! This spacious 2-bedroom, 2-bath home is part of a peaceful duplex—completely private with no shared spaces, including your own entrance, indoor areas, and a massive 800 sq ft deck with jaw-dropping, unobstructed views of Mt. Crested Butte, Gothic, Slate River Valley, Paradise Divide, and more. Locals agree—these are some of the best views in the valley.
Relax on the large deck with a BBQ grill, 13-piece dining set, bistro table, and comfortable lounge furniture—all framed by cedar and finished with durable composite decking. Enjoy evenings by the fire pit under the stars, with firewood and outdoor lighting provided.
Inside, you’ll find comfort and style with a fully stocked kitchen, new stainless appliances, Italian leather furniture, and a cozy wood stove. The upstairs bedroom features a plush King bed, while the downstairs room has a comfortable Queen. Large windows flood the home with light and let you take in the 360° views all day long.
Pet Friendly + Fenced Yard
We welcome well-behaved dogs! The yard is fenced and accessible via an XL dog door. Please note that in winter, snow can build up enough for dogs to walk over the fence—so leash walks may be needed. Renters must pick up after pets. If you’re sensitive to pet allergens, this may not be the best fit, as the home does host dogs between deep cleanings. Small dogs can fit between the 4” gaps for snow removal on edges of deck, so watch your small dog who may be able to escape.
There is a limit of two dogs in this unit unless special accommodations with additional fees will also apply.
Additional Highlights:
• 75” Samsung TV with Roku + YouTubeTV
• Spectrum WiFi + plenty of work space
• Wood stove + natural gas + electric heating
• Washer/dryer & all essentials provided
• 50 amp RV hookup & ample parking
• Private 1.3-acre lot just 1 mile from downtown CB
• Recreation trail to town passes through the property
• Wildlife sightings: elk, foxes, eagles, deer, bears & more
• Owner with 15 years of local experience—quick to help anytime
The house is set just off Hwy 135, with a berm and vegetation buffer. New insulated windows keep things quiet inside—please read reviews for guest insights on sound.
Whether you’re coming for summer hiking, fall colors, or just a peaceful break in the mountains, this home is ready to welcome you. Come for a weekend—or stay for a while. Ask about monthly rates!
