Quiet, walking distance to beach/bluff and tiny, cute town.
Pros: Property has a direct view of ocean. In walking distance to a beautiful ocean bluff and beach (great sunsets). If you open the window you can hear the waves crashing. The property/yard is meticulously maintained. Studio is in walking distance to an adorable general store, cafe and restaurant. The town is tiny and uncrowded—a plus for us! We found great bluff hikes and restaurants on day trips to Mendocino and Point Arena. If you love the ocean, are looking for quiet, and a slow pace, then this is a good town and property for you. Property had great amenities—we didn’t feel like there was anything much to improve on that is in the owners control (comfortable bed, comfortable recliners, good TV, good WiFi, coffee makers, stove/fridge).
Potential challenges of property: Ceiling is vaulted and lower in some spots of studio—could be a concern for tall folk. Shower is pretty small—could be a concern for bigger framed folks. No dishwasher, but that wasn’t a concern for us. The property has a great ocean view, but it’s hard to see from inside the studio unless you are standing right next to the one tall window with a view (or sitting on barstool next to said window). There is a downstairs deck outside of studio with a view of the ocean (if you are tall enough to see over railing). The house is located very close to the highway which produces some road noise-but minimal. Warning for the smart phone dependent—once you leave the WiFi in the studio, cell service on Hwy 1 is pretty bad. Recommend getting day trip directions dialed before you leave the property.
At the end of the day, the price was reasonable considering the location, we would definitely return, and would also recommend to friends. We had a great stay!
