Villa Sofia: Private Pool, Mature Garden, Sea Views

This villa was built for us in 2008. Its location on the hillside of Kastelir, with views spanning to the sea, makes it a lovely place to contemplate the beautiful Istrian countryside enjoying the light breeze from the sea. It has a private pool and plenty of space for 6-8 guests, accommodated in 3 double bedrooms (1 en-suite) and a comfortable double sofabed in the living room. With 2,5 bathrooms, it ensures the necessary privacy for the guests.
Kastelir is the perfect location for a diverse holidays. Only 4 miles from the sea it makes for a good base to explore the different resorts on the coast, or the historical town of Porec. Centrally located in Istria, it is also ideal to explore what the region has to offer, from undiscovered Venetian hilltop villages, to truffles and, of course, wine and olive oil. It is ideal for cycling (my favorite activity!) as it is in the midst of many cycling routes. The house is fully airconditioned, just in case the summer gets a bit too hot.
If you are the sporty type, then the hose has some table tennis table or - if you eel more energetic - access to a tennis court just a couple of minutes away, which can be easily booked. Besides cycling, in the near by beach resort of Lanterna you can do pretty much anything, from horse-back riding to wind surfing and paddling.
There is a very good tourist office in the local village square, which can give good advice on the potential activities around Kastelir and the region. Depending on when you stay, the region offers quite a lot in terms of cultural attractions and activities as well, including an excellent jazz festival in Grosnjan and a well known film festival in Motovun, a medieval festival in the Morosini-Grimani castle and many more.
Alternatively, you can spend a great week just laying by the pool and reading a book - its all down to you!

schönes Haus in ruhiger Lage

Anwesen war sehr schön, Lage ruhig. Zufahrt zum Grundstück schwierig, mussten draußen parken da Auto aufsitzt.Von beschriebenen bellenden Hunde waren wir verschont. Auch war die Straße entgegen mancher Bewertungen tuhig und kaum Verkehr. Im Ort gibt rs schöne Lokale, auch Bäcker/kleiner Supermarkt fußläufig erreichbar. Check InnCheck out sehr unkompliziert

Ein schöner Aufenthalt

Es ist ein schönes Haus mit tollem Garten und traumhaftem Pool. Wir waren mit 4 Erwachsenen, 3 Kindern und einem Hund dort. Für uns war der Platz absolut ausreichend. Das Haus ist schön eingerichtet und es ist alles vorhanden was man braucht. Vielen Dank an Caroline für ihre Gastfreundschaft. Es war sehr schön und wir kommen gerne wieder.

Schönes Haus

Das Haus und vor allem der Garten mit der Terrasse und dem Pool bieten schon jede Menge Erholungswert. Die Lage ist auch toll, in 15 Minuten ist man in Porec mit seiner schönen Altstadt und den Stränden. Kleinere Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gibt es im Ort und ein Restaurant in wenigen Gehminuten zu erreichen auch.

Erholsamer Urlaub in schönem Haus

Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen. Wir waren insgesamt zwei Familien + Hund. Das Haus war bei Ankunft in sauberem Zustand - nach einer Woche kam ein Reinigungstrupp und hat in kürzester Zeit einmal komplett geputzt. Der Poolboy war in 14 Tagen 3 mal da um den Pool zu reinigen und den wasserwert zu kontrollieren. Als wir Caroline nachmittags über die leere Gasflasche am Grill informierten, brachte Sie am nächsten Vormittag eine neue. Die Straße, die am Grundstück vorbeiführt, hat uns überhaupt nicht gestört. Innerhalb fünf Gehminuten gibt es zwei kleine Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, sowie ein Restaurant. Innerhalb 7-10 Autominuten ist man beim nächsten Kaufland oder Lidl. In der Umgebung gibt es viele Strände, aber auch am Pool lässt es sich aushalten. Alles in allem waren wir sehr begeistert von der Unterkunft und der kroatischen Gastfreundschaft. Wir kommen sicher wieder! Vielen Dank für alles!

Schönes Haus mit großem Garten

Wir haben den Aufenthalt genossen, ein geräumiges Haus, ideal für einen Familienurlaub (4 Per.), schöner Pool in einem noch schönerem Garten. In Geh-Distanz ein Minimarkt und zwei Restaurants, mit dem Auto 20 Minuten zum Meer. Das Grundstück liegt direkt an einer relativ befahrenen Straße, es kann etwas laut werden, aber nach zwei Tagen nimmt man den Lärm kaum mehr wahr. Im auch vermieteten Nachbarhaus lief den ganzen Tag die Stereoanlage, was echt etwas genervt hat, aber da hatten wir wohl einfach Pech. Insgesamt zu empfehlen.

An sich ein sehr schönes Haus allerdings gibt es ziemlich viele Mängel. Die Einfahrt ist leider so steil das wir nur mit leerem Auto hineinfahren konnten und selbst dabei hat das Auto aufgesessen. Wir haben uns vorne die Schürze kaputt gemacht. Das Tor funktioniert auch nicht richtig. Mitten beim öffnen geht es wieder zu- wenn es überhaupt mal funktioniert. Man konnte es aber dann per Hand auf und zu schieben. Unser Auto stand dann aber nur noch draußen. Der Garten und Pool sind sehr schön. Der Poolboy kam einmal Donnerstag und einmal Dienstag und hat die Ränder gereinigt und den PH-Wert kontrolliert. Es gibt viele Sitzmöglichkeiten außen allerdings haben die Stühle ihre besten Jahre hinter sich und es sind Liegen am Pool kaputt. Wir waren nur zu dritt und konnten zumindest zwei nutzen. Im Haus selber merkt man das auch hier einiges in die Jahre gekommen ist. Die Küchenzeile naja.. der Wasserhahn ist nicht richtig fest, überall läuft das Wasser hin. Im Kühlschrank ist am Gummi einiges schwarz. Für uns hat hier ein Ofen gefehlt. Die Bäder an sich sind ganz gut aber die Sauberkeit am Boden hat gefehlt. Die Betten oben sind bequem, unten nicht wirklich - empfindet aber jeder anders. Die Fliegengittertür oben beim Zimmer mit Balkon ist kaputt. Wir hatten eine Fledermaus (oder ein anderes Tier) im Kamin und haben nach Rücksprache vor Ort dann etwas davor gestellt. Mehr ist dann hier nicht mehr passiert. Generell machen Fledermäuse nichts aber sie sind richtig laut. Vorallem in der Früh wenn sie zurück kommen von ihrer Jagd.. ich dachte die Fledermaus sitzt unter meinem Bett. Einige Raupen lagen im Haus rum. Die Straße am Haus Richtung Tar hat uns tagsüber nicht so gestört aber Nachts war es schon ganz schön laut. Und dieses doofe Piepsen jeden Abend bis in die Morgenstunden hat uns in der Zweiten Woche den Schlaf geraubt. Keine Ahnung was das war. Zudem die ganzen Hunde die sich hier schön gegenseitig zum bellen motivieren.. im Haus nebenan waren dann auch Hunde (Ferienhaus) die uns den ganzen Tag angebellt haben wenn wir uns im Garten bewegt haben. Alles in allem würde ich hier sagen, Preis-Leistung nicht okay. Einige Mängel die ich bei diesem Preis nicht erwartet hätte. Sicherlich ist alles Ansichtssache. Wir möchten das Haus auch nicht schlecht reden, würde es aber im privaten nicht weiterempfehlen solange der Standart so bleibt- sorry!

Schönes Haus mit guter Umgebung

Es war ein schönes Erlebnis im Haus Urlaub zu machen. Der Ort hat alles was man braucht, 3 Restaurants, 2 Minimärkte ( 1*100m entfernt), einen Fahrradverleih ( 500m entfernt). Kleiner Wehrmutstropfen war die Straße nach Tar vor dem Grundstück, auch wenn man sie nicht gesehen hat, der Straßenverkehr würde den Tag über stören. Wir waren aber jeden Tag mit dem Rad unterwegs und haben erst nachmittags den Pool genutzt, daher ging es. Kleine Tipps: - Dienstag kommt morgens der Pool-Boy vorbei, hier nicht wundern. - Einen ausreichenden Vorrat gegen Mücken einplanen. - Sollte es mal kein Heißwasser geben, dann hat man aus Versehen den Schalter für die Therme in der kleinen Kammer an der Treppe ausgeschaltet. Dieser ist unmittelbar neben dem Lichtschalter. :-) - Im Nachbarort Visnjan gibt es einen hervorragenden Metzger.

Sehr schönes gepflegtes und sauberes Haus

Ein sehr schönes gepflegtes und absolut sauber geputztes Haus. Sehr gute Ausstattung mit Fliegengittern und Klimaanlage. Der Garten sind TIP TOP gepflegt. und Pool Es gibt sehr viele Sitzmöglichkeiten und drei schöne Schlafzimmer. Wir hatten selten so ein schönes und sauberes Haus gebucht.Ein paar Kleinigkeiten gibt es immer, so ist die Zufahrt nur geschottert und stark ausgespült, so dass man kein Tiefergelegtes Fahrzeug haben darf. Die Hofeinfahrt ist letztendlich aber so steil, dass selbst unser Kombi in der Mitte aufgesetzt hat und wir nur die Einfahrt nutzen konnten, wenn das Fahrzeug ausgeladen und keine Mitfahrer an Bord waren. Am Haus direkt verläuft eine Straße die doch relativ Stark und schnell befahren wird, ist durch die Hecke nicht Sichtbar aber gehört hat man Sie schon. Der Ort selbst ist echt nett und hat 2-3 Restaurant und 3 kleine Einkaufsläden wo man das meiste bekommt. Zum Strand sind es 10 Minuten mit dem Auto, genauso wie nach Novigrad Porec . Also eine sehr gute Lage. Wir haben unseren Urlaubeigentlich echt genossen. Ein echter Wehrmutstropfen, war die Betreuung vor Ort. Auf Grund der Corona Pademie, gab es ziemlich stau bei der Hinfahrt und als wir nach 15 Stunden endlich vor Ort waren, konnten wir das Einfahrtstor nicht öffnen. Wir haben dann angerufen und uns wurde gesagt ,dass in 10 Minuten jemand vor Ort ist, der es uns zeigt, dass hat dann 35 Minuten gedauert und war echt nervig. Frau Carolin war auch nicht wirklich freundlich sondern eher genervt. Dass Tor hat normal einen elektrischen Antrieb, der defekt ist und es lässt sich nur durch einen Trick öffnen. Wir hatten dann noch Fragen zum Haus und zur Bedienung einzelner Geräte, wie Grill und Klimaanlage, die Sie uns dann eher widerwillig und sehr kurz gezeigt hat. Leider hat die Kaffeemaschine nicht funktioniert und wir haben um Tausch gebeten. Hier mussten wir dann einen Tag warten und es wurde uns eine gebrauchte Maschine als Zwischenlösung gebracht. Diese funktionierte aber auch nicht wirklich, und benötigte für 2 Tassen Kaffee rund 25 - 30 Minuten. dass ist im Urlaub sehr ärgerlich. 3 Tage vor unserer Abreise haben wir uns per Telefon und SMS bei Carolin gemeldet, dass wir Aufgrund der Grenzkontrollen relativ früh aufbrechen wollen und wie der Ablauf ist der Hausabnahmen. Leider haben wir auf diese Anfrage nie Antwort bekommen. Das finde ich sehr unhöflich. Eine kurze Rückmeldung sollte selbstverständlich sein. Vor Ort Betreuung definitiv verbesserungswürdig

Sehr gepflegte Villa

Das Haus inklusive Garten mit Pool waren sehr schön und gepflegt. Die Lage ist gut und man erreicht in wenigen Minuten alles Wesentliche (Strände, Städte, Einkaufen, etc.).

Découverte de l'Istrie croate

Excellente découverte pour notre famille de 6 personnes dont 4 enfants. La villa est spacieuse et agreable et tout le monde y a trouvé assez d'espace de vie. La terrasse, l'espace ping pong, la piscine tous ces éléments ont été très appréciés. Merci a Caroline pour son suivi de notre séjour sur place. Localisation proche de Poreç et de l'axe autoroutier très appreciés pour découvrir l'Istrie du Nord au Sud et d'Ouest en Est. Seuls bémols de notre séjour: le nettoyage réalisé avant notre arrivée laissait à désirer (filtre aspirateur non vidé, toiles d'araignées plafond, poussières recoins ou encore syphons de douches non nettoyés...)... Et la présence de moustiques très agressifs dans le jardin le soir mais ce n'est en rien la responsabilité des exploitants et loueurs. Très chouette villa de vacances que nous n'hésiterons pas a recommander.

Großer Pool,traumhafte Umgebung

Hier fehlte es an nichts. Selbst die fehlende Kaffeemaschine wurde umgehend gebracht.. Der pool war groß und wurde regelmäßig gereinigt.. den Luxus mit den poolhandtüchern haben wir sehr genossen. Wir waren mit unserem Sohn (6) und einem befreundeten Pärchen unterwegs..das Haus bietet viel Platz und wunderschöne rückzugsplätze mit herrlicher Aussicht..

Es war ein schöner Urlaub in der Villa Sofia.

Im Haus am Pool und dem gesamten Grundstück war alles was man braucht vorhanden, sowie sauber und ordentlich. Allerdings die Einfahrt zum Grundstück ist sehr steil und kurz. Wir konnten nur mit leerem Auto in die Einfahrt und ganz behutsam in das Grundstück fahren. Sonst gab es keine weiteren Beanstandungen und wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Besonders der große Pool hatte uns viel Spaß bereitet.

Drei Generationen waren hier glücklich und zufrieden!

Wir, Eltern, zwei Jungs im noch nicht ganz Teenie-Alter und die Großmutter haben eine sehr schöne Zeit in der Villa Sofia verbracht. Bezüglich der Ausstattung des Hauses und des Gartens können wir uns nur unseren Vormietern anschließen. Alles bestens! Besonders den Pool haben wir sehr genossen! Bei den vielen Sitz- und Liegemöglichkeiten, im Schatten oder in der Sonne, rund ums Haus und im Haus fand jede/r sein Lieblingsplätzchen. Den Gasgrill und den Service mit den großen Badetüchern für den Pool haben wir sehr geschätzt! Auch die Tischtennisplatte hatten wir fleißig in Gebrauch. Dankbar waren wir auch für die Insektenschutzgitter an den Fenstern, denn die Mückenplage war während unseres Aufenthaltes sehr groß. Unbedingt ins Reisegepäck einpacken: reichlich Antimückenmittel! Die Raumaufteilung des Hauses kam uns sehr entgegen. Die Großmutter im Schlafzimmer im EG mit eigenem, schönen Bad und Eltern und Kinder im OG mit einem gemeinsamen Bad. Gerne sind wir in den Nachbarort Visnijan gefahren. Dort gibt es einen sehr guten Bäcker für die frischen Brötchen, süßen Stückchen (sehr lecker!) und Croissants zum Frühstück sowie einen guten Metzger. In der Ortsmitte gibt es einen schönen Platz, wo man Abend mit Einheimischen und anderen Gästen sehr beschaulich und gemütlich sitzen kann und bei der Pizzeria 'Al Ritrovo' günstig und gut essen kann. Dankbar sind wir auch unseren Vormietern für den Tipp mit der Badestelle 'Plava Laguna' gewesen, denn wir fanden es nicht ganz einfach, eine wirklich gute Badestelle zu finden. Oftmals liegen die Strände an Campingplätzen, Hotel- oder Appartementanlagen und da muss man erst einmal wissen, wo, wie und ob man da hinkommt. Plava Laguna hat uns schließlich auch am besten gefallen, schon wegen der guten Infrastruktur (Duschen, Toiletten, Liegewiese, Kiosk und Parkmöglichkeit, ...). Trotz der vielen hübschen Küstenstädtchen sollte man eine Fahrt ins Inselinnere auf keinen Fall versäumen! Als weitere Ausflugstipps können wir den "Klassiker", eine Fahrt mit einem Ausflugsboot von Vrsar (die Touren gehen aber auch von anderen Küstenorten wie Porec oder Novigrad los) nach Rovinji und in den Limski-Fjord/Kanal (mit Badegelegenheit!) durchaus empfehlen. Mit Kindern kommt man fast nicht um einen Besuch einer der beiden Wasserparks herum. Wir waren im Aquapark Istranlandia und fanden den echt klasse! Der Park ist sehr schön angelegt, liegt landschaftlich wunderschön und wir hatten wirklich viel Spaß dort.

A perfect holiday in the villa of our dreams

The pictures did not betray us... the house and the garden are really beautiful and well-kept. The private pool made our dreams come true... The villa is perfectly equipped with just everything. The rooms are nicely decorated and furbished with style. The airconditioning is working perfectly. Everything was spotlessly clean. There are two small shops in town and a very nice fruits and vegetable lady with her own booth not far from the house. There are three very good and low-priced restaurants in the neighbourhood which we can definitely recommend -especially "Toni". The trips to the ocean by car just took around 15 min and there is no trouble with parking next to the beaches (for free). We can recommend the "Hawaii-Beach" at Cervar Porat. The staff at the agency were very friendly and helpful -like everyone else we met here in Croatia. We surely would like to come back.

Very nice and komfortable atmosphere!

Everything was very uncomlicated and easy to handle. We directly felt welcome. We had a nice breakfast every morning at the really comfortable terrace. Also nice barbecues. In the house is everything you ned. We were with 6 persons, it was optimal. The house is situated in a small village,Not far away from porec. A car is good to get around and buy food. There are also 2 small markets in the village were you get fresh rolls or bred every morning :-) the area is very calm. The view of the ocean is amazing. There are restaurants Toni and Robi, which we recommend to have some food :-) very delicious! So all in all it really was a very nice holiday!

Super schönes Haus

Die Bilder haben nicht zu viel versprochen. Das wirklich geräumige Haus in echt ruhiger Lage ist super ausgestattet und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Alles was man braucht ist da. Wir haben uns super wohlgefühlt... Der realativ große Pool ist natürlich genial. Zum Meer ist es nicht weit- man kann verschiedene Strände mit guten Parkmöglichkeiten anfahren. Vor Ort hat man auch echt alles was man braucht; Supermarkt, Obststand, wirklich gute Restaurants... Alle sind sehr gastfreundlich. Alles in allem ein super Urlaub! Sehr zu empfehlen.

A wonderful retreat off the Istrian coast

Me and my family felt right at home in this great house in a pretty little village in the wonderful region of Istria in Croatia. We hope to return soon. This is a very welcoming place, with a veranda overlooking the garden filled with scented lavender, a cozy living room with fire place and big windows to enjoy the view towards the coast. And, of course, the pool to linger and take a cool dip during the hot summer days. Clearly a house that the owner has given much attention and care to. If you come, make sure you have a car - there is too much to enjoy in the nearby area. A quick 10 minute drive gets you to several beautiful beach locations (Plava Laguna near Porec was our favorite), the region abounds with magnificent medieval towns along the coast and inland. In Kastelir itself there are a couple of good restaurants and just a 5 minute walk from the house a small, charming and richly filled fruit/vegetable stand with everything grown right behind it - hyper-local produce… you can even taste some 7 types of locally produced olive oil types - what a treat. A proper small food store is a short walk in the other direction. Within a 10 minute drive we found everything we every needed in all sorts of stores. While the Istrian coast with its many beaches was a clear attractor for us - and it didn’t disappoint - the inland was the real surprise. Only a few kilometer inland from Kastelir you find beautiful valleys with medieval villages on the hill tops, the truffle region,… we moved by car but it must be a biker’s paradise. The owner has been wonderful in making this a great stay and gave us good and useful information that helped direct us to Kastelir coming from Austria (only a short and picturesque 4 hour drive through Slovenia) and pointed us to the many treats in the area.

I now live in London where I work as an economist in a development institution. But I go to Istria as often as I can get away!

We carefully selected this location as it is very well placed for a diverse holiday: itis a summer house, not far from the sea and properly hot in the summer, but at the same time it is the perfect base to explore the region, which is amazing. And it is 5 mins away form fabulous restaurants, markets and wineries. You can't beat that!
