Magnificent scenery sitting at top of mountain with clear, crisp views of Mt. Leconte for EVERY season of the year. The chalet is maintained by Mountaineer Cleaning Company which does an excellent job at making sure the cabin is in exceptional condition for each arriving guest. As owners, we also live in area and inspect cabin on a weekly basis to provide a high quality vacation experience for all guests. Architecture is amazing!

COVID-19 and CANCELLATIONS: Cabin and hot tub are sanitized for your health and safety according to the CDC for your health and safety by my professional cleaning service, Mountaineer Cleaning and Maintenance. Requests for COVID cancellations and refunds align with those policies set by Vrbo. I am sorry but I do not give refunds due to inclement weather or early departures.

Upon arrival, on the main floor, guests are welcomed by an open-plan living area with floor to ceiling windows, a stack rock gas fireplace that sits in the corner with a 60 inch HD TV with Blu Ray DVD player and a comfortable leather sofa and sleeper. The fully equipped kitchen features black granite counter tops and a stone backsplash. The dining area includes an oak log table with seating for 8. A bedroom on the main level offers a king bed, closet and a 50 inch HD TV. The main level also hosts a full bathroom with a jetted tub , double sinks, stone walls and a large picture window. There is not a shower in this bathroom.

The open loft looks out on Mt. Leconte and offers a king bed, closet and a full bathroom, double sinks, and a glass enclosed walk in shower. Exceptional views from every window in loft area, even behind the bed!

The lower level (game room) features an open room with pool table and a sofa sleeper that sits in front of a 50 inch HD TV and gas fireplace. Behind this area is a cove with a bunk bed that accommodates a full and twin bed. A large bathroom with shower, tub, double sinks and full size washer and dryer is nearby. The large open has floor to ceiling windows to take in all the beautiful views.

**Cabin is 3 levels and may not be suited for elderly seniors, disabled, or handicapped persons. The driveway is steep but is manageable. Parking is available on two levels. You can drive to the first level and park. If you drive to second level of parking, drive to rear, back up to turn around and then go down driveway forward. Does not accommodate large passenger vans or motor homes. Drive with caution during the winter months.
METHODS OF PAYMENT:
We accept credit cards through the secure site with HomeAway/VRBO. Once you decide to book, we will email you a confirmation letter and will need 1/2 of rent to be received within 3 days of making the reservation and the balance to be paid not less than 15 days prior to arrival. We require 14 days minimum for cancellations in order to receive a full refund. Funds can be paid through the secure system on VRBO/Home Away.

Great place amazing views

We had a great stay here and are so glad we stayed away from pigeon forge this time. The drive is not long, and we felt way more at ease being a bit closer to the forest. The house is beautiful and the beds and amenities were comfortable. You are definitely getting what you are looking for if you want a beautiful place in the mountains.The kitchen was nice and open, and we were very happy with the layout for cooking meals and everyone relaxing. We ended up staying an extra day.Owner communication was great. Very nice, allowed us to extend our stay and responded to small concerns. They also don't ask that you unreasonably clean the place on top of the fee which was a breath of fresh air, just start the dishwasher.A few things of note, they aren't bad just considerations and they do not change my rating. The master bathroom only has a bath. You have two other bathrooms to choose from for a shower so its no big deal, just a consideration.If you have kids staying downstairs there are no shades on the window. They are tucked in the corner, and the other side of the window is literally a cliff, but we chose to move a coat rack in front of them, just so we felt more at ease.The driveway is not for low riding vehicles. Its not a big deal after you get up once, but expect the very vertical driveway to be a thing you deal with. Jeeps help.

Beautiful home with a great view

This was a great property for our family. The beds were comfortable and the house was clean. The kitchen was well stocked. It was anbout 15-20 minutes to pigeon forge, Gatlinburg and cataract cave which was anwesome. And we did see bears right on the driveway one of the nights - a mama and two cubs which was the cherry on top.

Spring Break 2025!!!

We had our mostly grown kids and a friend for Spring Break. Plenty of room for the 6 of us!! I even slept on the couch a few nights because SOMEONE snores. The cabin was very clean and furnished well. Kids loved the hot tub and really enjoyed the downstairs area. I stayed on the main floor and was surprised there was not a shower on that level but the tub was nice!! Really wanted to see a bear Very close to everything. Tricky driveway as others have said but thank goodness I wasn’t driving.

Wonderful place to stay!

We had an incredible stay at this cabin during our trip to Gatlinburg! It was the perfect spot for our family and friends. The cabin was very clean and clearly well-maintained, which made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The view of the mountains was absolutely breathtaking. The location couldn’t have been better; it was close to both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, making it super convenient to explore the area and take in all the attractions. The cabin was also incredibly kid-friendly, which was a huge bonus for our group. The kids had plenty of space to play, and the setup made it easy for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves. The host was communicative, kind, and went above and beyond to check in with us during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. We appreciated such thoughtful and attentive hospitality. We can’t recommend this cabin enough—it’s a gem, and we’d love to return for another visit in the future!

The house was at the top of the mountain, in the “treetops” with gorgeous views. Cabin had everything we needed and my teens really enjoyed the downstairs area with pool table.

Special family time

This property is absolutely beautiful and well cared for! The views are amazing! The house was very clean. My family of 4 stayed with my sister and her 2 kids. The house was a perfect size for us and we all had a fantastic time. The host was very responsive and very helpful. We are a very particular crew and the only trouble we had the whole week was that we had 2 large trucks. The road to the property is narrow and steep. The driveway required a good bit of maneuvering with the size of our trucks. This is all understandable given the location and views, but it did pose a bit of a challenge. Overall we would definitely stay again, just with smaller vehicles.

Amazing cabin with stunning views!

We had the best time during our stay. The cabin was even better in person and had everything you would need. Debbie was responsive and extremely helpful. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. There are so many things to do nearby if you feel like getting out and about. Hiking trails are within 10-20 minutes, restaurants, shopping etc. We just stayed in the cabin our last day and loved being in our own private oasis among trees. We will definitely be back! Don’t book anywhere else!!

G’burg 24

We had a wonderful 5days Above the Glades. The location was perfect-privacy on top of the world. Yes, it is steep and winding, but the view is amazing! The cabin was clean, beautifully furnished, and the owner very responsive with our questions(just a few!). Wi-Fi was plentiful for 8of us and sleeping areas were comfy. The fireplace added a perfect coziness. The views of Mt.LeConte changed each day… each hour. It was a very short commute to downtown Gatlinburg. We all decided we want to plan our next trip- and, stay here! Thanks, Debbie

Exactly what we needed

The cabin was exactly what we needed as a family. It is located perfectly in conjunction to both pigeon forge and gatlinburg. The cabin itself was clean and maintained. The hot tub and pool table were great for those slow days when you just wanted to relax and recharge at home. There was a local pesky bear that decided to break into the trash several times but the owner was very responsive and quick to have the trash picked up to avoid further incidents. Would definitely recommend and will plan future bookings for sure.

Amazing property.

Just returned to PA from our stay at Above the Glades and it was absolutely amazing. The cabin was extremely clean and well kept, the beds were all comfortable, and we fit 8 people - 4 adults and 4 children ages 6 through 11 - with no issues. Communication with the property owner was also great, I had to reach out to Debbie twice with questions and she was very quick to respond, courteous, and very helpful. We have no complaints whatsoever. Saw some people complain that the driveway is steep, but we fit two large trucks there with no issues, and it’s worth it because of the views. It wasn’t an issue at all, anyone with mobility issues can pull right up to the top porch. I could not recommend this property enough. If we end up going back I’d book this place again in a heartbeat.

This place is stunning. Beautiful view of the mountains and plenty of space for the whole family. Close enough to town to run in and get what you need or do some exploring but far enough out you don’t hear the sound of the bustling town. We would come to this place 100%.

Anniversary Trip

We were celebrating our 25th anniversary and I wanted somewhere very special for us to hang out at. The cabin was absolutely beautiful and spotless. We enjoyed hanging out on the porches and the Mountain View from the porch. It was easy enough to travel back and forth to Pigeon Forge for dinner each night. We stayed 2 nights….wish it could have been more. We would definitely go back!

Fall Break 2024

It was a little further from town than we wanted. The cabin was comfortable and clean. Everything worked as it should. The hot tub was a big hit. The three levels was a little much. You could hear almost everything in the cabin. The TV could easily be heard throughout the house. It was a great place to stay.

Cabin Review

The cabin is absolutely beautiful and the view from it was amazing. Debbie was more than willing to communicate with me throughout our stay and even helped us with recommendations on food, shopping, etc. The only thing that we weren’t aware of was the driveway. It’s very steep and a little challenging to get up with larger vehicles. But it did not stop us from leaving the cabin or enjoying our stay.

We live in the area, so we are able to monitor and maintain the cabin to keep it in great condition for all of our guests. We also use Mountaineer Cleaning and Maintenance Company to clean the cabin after the departure of each guest. They do great job of having the cabin ready for our visitors. The Smoky Mountain National Park is also a favorite with all its natural beauty, trails, waterfalls, picnic areas etc. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are growing each year with new adventuress and exciting places to visit. A special place for family gatherings, friends, and love ones. Come and enjoy!

Why they chose this property

The cabin is in a semi secluded area but yet easily assessable to downtown Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and the Great Smoky National Park. This is a great cabin to relax, enjoy, have tranquility and enjoy nature. The cabin is not in a resort area and sits on an acre of property. Easy to get to grocery, dining and entertainment. The cabin is well maintained, and since we live in the area, we are able to guarantee a cabin that is clean , well decorated and equipped, and well maintained. We offer better rates than managing companies and a cabin that will leave you with breathtaking memories of its beautiful views.
