Pleased that you had an enjoyable stay. Regards Dawn
Excellent communication with owner. A lovely welcome pack upon our arrival. Ideal secure garden for our dog. Ample linens, utensils and household sundries.
Ideally located for visits to all the popular holiday spots. Lots of good public houses and restaurants within the area. This accommodation was ample for the two of us and we wanted for nothing.

Perfect for a family holiday
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Collaton Mews and found the cottage to be clean and very well equipped. It was quiet, comfortable with good facilities, parking and good outdoor space too. The children were delighted with an easter egg on arrival - a lovely touch. The location was great for visiting the many attractions nearby - we particularly enjoyed Paignton Zoo, Blackpool Beach and nearby Brixham Harbour. Thanks also for the assistance on returning an item we had left behind - much appreciated. We will definitely go back again.

Thank you very much for your kind and positive review. I'm very pleased you had a good time both at the cottage and around the local area. It was no problem helping you to recover your belongings and I sincerely hope that we have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future.
The property was fabulous, quite easy to find. We did have trouble with the locks on arrival but soon sorted this out. The property has everything you need for a holiday plus extras. Shops easy to access and we had several barbeques which we are unable to do at home due to living in a city centre apartment. Loved the garden but it was a bit overlooked and several chats with neighbours were had, which was ok. Very peaceful, once the dog stopped barking at fresh air but it was not a problem as we don't mind dogs. I would recommend this property to all, but second bedroom is very small, so 2 children and 2 adults is a perfect fit. Freezer in garden was a bit odd too and when it rained it was wet to fetch ice. Dawn is amazing, nothing was too much trouble even though she was on holiday too. We will be returning in the future. Thank you Dawn

Thank you for the lovely review. Some of the quirks like the freezer is purely a solution to limited space in the kitchen. im very pleased however that generally you had a lovely time and that you would be keen to return again. Thank you for choosing mu property. Dawn.

A warm and cosy property, conveniently situated in a quiet side road on the outskirts of Paignton
Whilst Collaton St Mary might appear from the name to be a quiet Devon village, it is more like a suburb of Paignton and straddles the busy road from Paignton to Totnes. There are no small local shops, although there are three large supermarkets within a mile of so of the property, which is one of a number of adjacent barn conversions, all set back from the road. .
The property itself is reasonably spacious, apart from the second bedroom, which is a bit poky and only really suitable for children. The living room contains a good-sized dining table and two large sofas and a tv/video offering some Sky coverage, as well as the usual terrestrial channels. The kitchen has a good selection of appliances, including a stove, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher, The bathroom was reasonable, although we found that the water was never particularly hot, ok for showers, but not for a proper bath. There is also a small but private terrace.

Thank you for your comments on this review and in your recent email where you also indicated that the cottage was also ideally located for touring the South Hams area. The cottage is also only less than 2 minutes drive from open countryside both towards Totnes and towards Stoke Gabriel. I just wanted to also clarify and add to a couple of the points made. Firstly, in addition to the courtyard there is also a very sizeable enclosed garden and being away from any main road we also offer 2 reserved parking spaces. We make no secret of the fact that the second bedroom is small and as you rightly pointed out, it is ideal for children and is also manageable for one adult (or two who know each other very well!). With regards to the hot water, perhaps you hadn't realised that the temperature could be adjusted up and down, alongside the central heating temperature control. Hot water is also always available in a continuous supply. Thank you for choosing to stay with us, which overall, it seems that you did enjoy your break. Kind regards. Dawn
Thank you we (myself, Boyfriend, mum, Dad & Dog) had a great stay. The location was great as we had a family event at St Mary's but also for Paignton Beach, Torquay for meals out.
Dawn was good at communicating & gave some great recommendations for places to go, which we went to Crab & Hammer (great foe seafood fix) beautiful pub Church House Inn Marldron. Definitely recommend & Definitely be back
A delightful base for what was meant to be a time to refresh ourselves. We visit the South coast regularly but haven't holidayed in Paignton for many years, the changes to certain areas were a surprise.
The accommodation is comfortable with everything needed to make your stay easy. The garden was perfect for our small dog, grassed with a secure fenced boundary. Relatively private patio with garden furniture, easy parking. Local amenities within easy reach, also, places of interest of which there are plenty. Would definitely recommend the National trust properties, especially Coleton Fishacre.
The host provided good communication, responding quickly to my only question. The welcome pack was an unexpected but lovely gesture.
Would definitely book this property again.
One of the best accommodations we have stayed at with VRBO, It really was a home from home. Perfectly situated for Paignton and surrounding areas to explore, yet quiet enough to come home and relax in the garden if we wanted to. Dawn (owner) was also very helpful in the running up to our stay and great at communicating everything we needed to know. Definitely would come back and stay again.
We spent 7 nights at the cottage which is a lovely place to stay. The location is fabulous and allows you get sight see all of the beautiful places along the coast. The cottage is very cosy and well equipped with some nice extra personal touches. Dawn, the host was very accessible and helpful . She provided clear information prior to arrival and left a lovely welcome pack. I would recommend a stay and will return.
Excellent stay in this well equipped cottage. Had a great week and the property is recommended.
Great location and property that is very well equipped. Great communication with Dawn. If we had to find anything less than great it would be the sofa's, which do need new seats.
However, other than this we would (and will) stay in the property again!!
Comfortable cottage in a good location. Nearby foodstores and bus routes. Pub opposite
Easy access to the Torbay area

Uncomfortable and overlooked
We mentioned to the owner that the settees were less than comfortable. However the location given in the review gives the impression of being more countrified than it really is,being in close proximity to other houses.

A perfect place to stay for peace and quiet.
My wife and I stayed there for 9 nights and we we didn't want to leave, it was the perfect place for us, we hardly used our car as the bus service was brilliant and only a two minute walk from the property which took us everywhere we wanted to go and great for sight seeing. The barn was so light and airy with the doors open and the garden was lovely to relax in with some alfresco dining. The next time we go back to Torquay we will be trying to book the barn again if available. The pub on the corner is great for a few beers and a meal and the staff are very friendly. Overall I would recommend the barn to anyone who wants some peace and quiet and that it is in the perfect spot for getting about whether you drive or get the bus.

Lovely house in a good location
Lovely house in a good location to explore Devon. Dawn was very helpful and available on the phone if we needed her. The only downside was the lack of curtains in the main bedroom. The room was bright at 4a.m. So not for you if you need darkness to sleep.

Thank you for your review and I'm very pleased that you enjoyed your stay.
I would like to just clarify re the curtains in the main bedroom, as there is both a wooden blind on the main window and there are curtains on the French doors, both a voile and fabric ones, albeit they are light in colour. The window absent of a blind is a very high level skylight in the vaulted roof.

Very Comfortable Cottage
We found the cottage to be clean and very well equipped with everything we needed for our stay.
The location was quiet and had direct access to main roads for visiting the surrounding area. There is a bus stop adjacent to the property which takes you directly to the supermarket, zoo and sea front should you not wish to take the car. A very nice stay thank you.

Very nice house on a very special location with lots of things you can do.
We liked the house very much especially the large garden was very nice. The location of the house is magnificient, close to all kind of facilities, but also very quiet. When you sit in the garden and look around it is just if you are in the middle of the nature instead of close to the city.
There are many maps in the house with descriptions of what you can do during your stay, everything is sorted on subject. This helped us a lot with selecting the right trips. Unfortunately the whether was not really good during our stay so we couldn't swim in the sea. There was not enough time to do all we wanted to do that we really like to come back some time!

Great place, very nice garden and not noise. Great to relax and lots of space.
The property was very nice easy to travel to the town. Very nice garden and nice kitchen. The only downside was the mattress on the smaller room. Hard and uncomfortable to sleep. With a bit of TLC on few details the place will get 5⭐️. The covers on the sofas were not freshly clean, but overall was lovely stay. I will definitely will be back, hopefully next summer.

Fabulous
Super cottage with everything you need. Felt home from home and tastefully furnished. I expected to have to supply washing up "sundries", soap etc, but all the little things were taken care of and the welcome pack was much appreciated. Even the dog appeared to feel at home and it certainly doesn't feel like a dog friendly cottage being very clean and fresh. There are also good meal deals at the dog friendly pub across the road. I would certainly recommend.

About the host
Hosted by Dawn Ray
This is my second home and I use it regularly as a relaxing retreat. I take pride in its appearance and it is therefore furnished and equipped to a good standard so that both guests and my family can enjoy some creature comforts. The cottage is always a popular choice for people with young children as we have a large enclosed garden for them to play in. The character of the cottage and the fact it is a single storey, works well for couples of all ages looking for a holiday just for two. We are lucky to have a number of guests who return to stay with again and who have recommended the cottage to their friends and family.
Why they chose this property
As a location, it is central and very convenient for exploring all that South Devon has to offer. We are surrounded by some beautiful countryside and are close to some great beaches. The choice of places to eat and drink is exceptional from local thatched pubs to gastro dining serving locally sourced produce. This area in particular is well known for its huge choice of fish restaurants, being close to Brixham and Dartmouth. The wealth of attractions and lovely towns and villages means that it is a year round destination.
What makes this property unique
Accessibility by car or public transport. Large private garden and terrace. 2 allocated parking spaces - very rare in holiday properties. Well equipped cottage. Very central location for exploring the best of the South Devon coast and countryside. Single storey provides ease of access.
