Private Villa with Pool with stunning views in the 'Real' Italy
Nestled in a panoramic position overlooking the Sibilini mountains of Le Marche, Villa Alto Cielo is the perfect base for exploring a glorious part of the ‘real Italy’. Beautiful lakes, enchanting hilltop villages, Adriatic beaches and stunning mountain walks and drives are all within easy reach. Alto Cielo means ‘Open sky’ or ‘High Heaven’ in Italian. You’ll be sure to find the term fitting once you have experienced a starry night here. Comfortably sleeping six in 3 large bedrooms (plus one more single day bed), Villa Alto Cielo is a well appointed private villa with pool. Here you will have the complete freedom to relax in a spacious home from home. A large airy kitchen with covered capanna is perfect for long lazy meals or a siesta in the shade! Just 1 1/4hr drive from Ancona and Perugia Airports, the villa is secluded but not remote, located a short drive from both San Ginesio and Belforte Del Chienti.

Wow! Beautiful home with an amazing view of the Sibilini Mountains and surrounding valley. So peaceful and serene! The pool area is amazing and the house is comfortable with everything you need!
We had a really nice stay in Villa Alto Cielo. Everything was as pictured and the scenery in the area is spectacular. Only downside was the that there was no A/C, which would have been nice during the hot nights.

Thank you again for visiting our little piece of Italy, glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes it takes a bit of technique to keep the house cool naturally during very hot weather. We find the use of AC very impactful environmentally and thus have elected instead to give tips in the villa book on how to manage with fans and open windows at night and using shutters during the day, to control the temperature as the locals do.
We had a great time in this beautiful villa! The pool is very spacious and the kids had a great time there during the hot days! With the shutters closed (during the day), we could also keep it very cool in the bedrooms. The bathroom is also nicely modernised and very spacious in size. The kids wanted to take a bath every night:).....Some beds near the pool are slowly in need of replacement, we didn’t saw this as a big issue. But I can imagine that not everyone can mount wheels etc.Betinna & Will you can be proud on this beautiful place!
A wonderful base from which to explore this beautiful part of Italy. Quiet & peaceful, Villa Alto Cielo is very spacious, with generously-sized bedrooms, fantastic main bathroom, very comfortable sitting room and huge kitchen-diner opening out on to the fabulous terrace - to enjoy unparalleled views of the valley & mountains. Wonderful flowers & wildlife all around. It is very much a home and our hosts were super efficient, friendly & speedy in our communications. And generous with house essentials like soap, toilet paper etc. Much appreciated. If you want to experience the Marche region you would be hard-pressed to do better than be based in this stunning spot. Highly recommend!

Beautiful rural property Very well equipped with a fantastic pool and gorgeous views.
We had a fantastic week at this very well appointed villa. 3 good bedrooms with beautiful kitchen diner, and spacious lounge. The swimming pool is fantastic and the views are outstanding. The villa is about 10 mins drive to nearest restaurant We used the BBQ on several occasions cooking the excellent pork & beef from the local butchers washed down with a glass or two of wine from Le Marche. The only slight downside which nobody can do anything about are the tiger mosquitos affecting Italy and the Med, Bring some repellent and cover up when possible.
We highly recommend this villa for a comfortable relaxing holiday in Le Marche.

Perfect Villa in Picturesque setting
We had the supreme pleasure of staying 4 weeks at this beautiful home in the hills of Le Marche. Located at the top of a long and winding road, the villa enjoys constant breezes, especially at night, which makes for glorious sleeping. The three bedrooms are all very spacious, and each has two large windows (unusual for traditional homes in Le Marche). The hall bathroom is uber large and beautifully outfitted with a walk-in shower featuring a large shower-head and GREAT water pressure! There is also a huge, luxurious bathtub for long soaks. The grounds and pool are gorgeous and beautifully maintained. The pool area is ample and gracious and the pool water is crystal clear. We were impressed by the large grassy areas - again, unusual for this part of Italy. There is a fabulous wrap-around terrace equipped with a large farmhouse table overlooking a classic Marche view of the exquisite patchwork of fields; we spent most of our waking hours on the terrace enjoying the meals we cooked in the large, well-equipped kitchen. I agree with other reviewers that this villa offers tremendous value for the price. We will definitely stay here again as soon as possible!

We were robbed in broad daylight—a nightmare
We absolutely do not recommend this rental. Our stay was a complete disaster. First of all, we were victims of a burglary in broad daylight while our child was sleeping in their room. The fence is not secured, anyone can enter. It was a terrifying experience that completely ruined our vacation. As if that wasn’t enough, the pool pump was broken, making it impossible to swim in the sweltering 40°C heat. Worse the maintenance company said it is safe to go, but measuring the PH and Cl, values were not even in the range on the measuring tool !! With no air conditioning in the house, the atmosphere became unbearable. In summary, this stay was an absolute nightmare spending over 5.000 € for 3 days on horror and 4 days on the road. Avoid this place at all costs! It is not safe.

We were very saddened and extremely disappointed to receive this review from these guests.
The guests understandably were upset to experience a theft (not a robbery!) whilst on holiday, however to argue that the property is unsafe is grossly unfair. The guests avoid mentioning how the thieves entered the property - through an unlocked gate and an unlocked door. For them to mention a fence, which is a boundary fence and in place to keep wildlife like deer out of the garden, is misleading and entirely irrelevant. All doors in the property as well as the gate are lockable and in addition all windows and doors have external shutters. Neither the villa nor the area are “unsafe”.
The guest mentions how much he paid for his holiday but neglects to mention the reason that his travel insurer denied his claim for compensation, namely due to it being an uninsurable event (door left unlocked). Likewise, our insurers declared this an uninsurable event when we sought to claim loss of income due to the early departure of the guests and their request that we refund 100% of the unused time. Essentially, in legal terms at least, they had not ensured that the property was secure. There was no suggestion of any property defect contributing to the theft.
The guest does not mention that we refunded half of the remainder of their stay as a goodwill gesture, despite their insurers not being able to help. They left with 12 hours’ notice, giving us no opportunity to attempt to resell the dates at the height of the summer season. Neither do they mention the emergency funds we organised and had delivered to them at the property, when again their insurers, credit card companies, friends etc seemed unable to assist.
There were issues with the pool pump for the first two days of the stay – we refunded an additional amount as a goodwill gesture due to this.
There is a curious mention of the lack of air conditioning (property not advertised as having), rendering the bedrooms too hot. Yet their 17 year old son chose to spend much time there apparently, including on the day of the theft whilst the parents were at the pool, the latter which was allegedly unusable.
It is a great shame that these guests have used this opportunity to pass the blame of the theft onto the property which they left unsecured. Perhaps it is easier to do that than accept some personal responsibility and appreciation of the efforts made to assist. Maybe they feel justified in writing such a vindictive review but we imagine prospective renters and other property owners may come to a different conclusion.

A rather puzzling review.
During her stay the guest reported what a lovely family time they were having.
The message sent to us by the guest when we checked in first was “The house is great, the pool is great. We already cooked good meals. Kitchen is huge and well equipped”. A little strange for a 2 star review.
A minor issue with a missing aerator on an otherwise fully functional tap was resolved when the guest found the tap swirl provided which resulted in “ flow much better” in their words.
No other issues were mentioned during their stay.
After their departure though, the tone changed. Apparently they had been unable to attach the tap swirl, had to move the washing machine on manually to spin and claimed that all pots and pans should be changed ( they seemed to dislike any coated pans although the kitchen contains both non coated and coated pans) . This was presented as a valid reason for compensation, and a “small sum” of 300 euros suggested. When pressed on why nothing had been raised during the stay, the guest then explained that they had deliberately not contacted ourself or the managing agent claiming nothing could be done and instead sought recompense on a “ moral” basis.
When this was not forthcoming the 2 star review immediately followed.
We really value hosting guests who enter into the rental of the villa in a spirit of collaboration. It is not one way traffic. We want to be able to resolve any issues as quickly as possible for the sake of current and future guests. We have rarely encountered anyone who has decided for whatever reason not to communicate these during their stay and sought monies afterwards.
On a further note the villa needed significant additional cleaning than usual due to the condition it had been left in by the guests. In theory we could have levied an extra cleaning fee but “ morally” it didn’t sit well.

Dear Julia, thank you for your comments. Really glad that you liked the house and its location.
We do complete a full check of all items several times of year and are happy to replace those that may need upgrading. We welcome guests to report any issues during their stay so that we can sort out promptly. For info, we have replaced 3 out of 4 mattresses in the last 12 months. Mattress toppers are provided but may not be to everyone’s preference and can be removed if a firmer mattress is required.
We komen absoluut terug.
We have just had a wonderful 2 week holiday at Villa Alto Cielo.
First off the information provided before our arrival was excellent - local knowledge in Le Marche is essential as this is not a tourist mecca which is part of its charm. The villa’s location overseeing a patchwork of fields with the backdrop of the Sibilini mountains is the highlight. Last 2 weeks in June felt like we were in a heatwave so the best time to sit and gaze at the view was first thing in the morning after a swim. Whenever we stay at villas we try and imagine the decisions made in its development. The house itself is perfect for families looking for peace, quiet away from neighbours. The decor reflects that this is Will & Bettina’s home as does the extensive library available to peruse. For those who cannot live without social media - the broadband works perfectly well in the library. There were lots of towels available and the electric fans made the hot nights a little more comfortable. Take advantage of opening the screened windows as mosquitos don’t miss an opportunity to do their mischief.
Outside the covered veranda is perfectly designed for some welcome shade in the day and sitting outside to dine, read and chill in the evening. The kitchen is a lovely size for cooking and when it gets too dark playing cards in the evening. The new BBQ is a welcome addition (and is positioned perfectly for alfresco dining) and the sausages, steaks and chicken purchased from Oasi in Tolentino were delicious. The pizza oven was used once and we managed some creditable pizzas - as indicated the oven is large and does take a while to heat up. The filter coffee machine was put to good use - but we could not find filters in any of the shops (either find some at home or improvise with kitchen towel).
The wildlife is interesting: of note were the Swifts who would swoop in and take a drink whilst you swim, the fireflies (first time I have seen them) and a hare came visiting. Sunflowers are out and there has been lots of agricultural activity - mostly cutting and harvesting but nothing intrusive. Do not be alarmed by the occasional hornet who comes exploring but is completely docile (nothing like the wasps in the UK) and the little scorpions who are quite happy to avoid you.
Sarnano is definitely worth visit and we managed a 5 course agriturismo experience. Don’t expect anyone to speak English but you an get along with little Italian.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are really sorry that some of the elements fell short of the standards expected. Some very good points are mentioned which would have been easy to resolve if you had raised these during your stay.. Glasses for example do get broken during the season and we do rely on guests to make us aware so we can quickly replace.
Water pressure is very low in the countryside hence why a pump is needed, which only operates when water is used.
We will be installing netting next season on bedroom windows as suggested so that they can be kept open. Two bedrooms already have netting over the bed which fulfil the same purpose.
Undoubtedly you will find cheaper properties with shared pools or with owners living on site. These are relatively easier to maintain but with less privacy. However we feel that our offer is still very competitive in the local area, certainly when booked direct.
Thank you again for the feedback though and we are glad that you enjoyed the pool and the location. The covid situation prevented us visiting the villa earlier this year to prepare as we normally would so the quality assurance standards appear not to have been maintained on this occasion and we will raise with our managing agent.
Kind regards,
Will and Bettina
We spent two weeks here at the end of August, enjoying the extraordinary tranquility and beauty of this place and the surrounding nature. The house is spacious, well-kept and very well equipped. From the terrace there is an excellent view of the landscape around and the Sibillini mountains in the distance. In the gardens, there’s plenty of butterflies as well as birds (even the colorful bee-eaters) and bats at night. We spent quite some time at the great pool, enjoying the sun and the water and were lucky enough the find the fig trees full of delicious fruits. Sitting at the terrace in the morning, having a coffee and reading a book was as wonderful as swimming in the pool at dawn.
It is not far to the mountains for wonderful walks to Lame Rosse or Gola dell‘Infernaccio or for taking a dip in Lago de Fiastra. We went to see the beautiful city of Ascoli Piceno, visited Loreto, Tolentino, the Frassasi caves and of course the adriatic beach at Sirolo. There’s plenty to do and if one doesn’t want to travel too much one can always climb the little slope behind the house, walk to the large wooden cross at the top and enjoy the magnificient view (or fly a kite as we did).
All in all a perfect place, easy to book, with plenty of recommendations on what to do and what to see. If there’s questions or need for help the owner or the local facility management were easy to reach and they responded within a really short time. We highly recommend this place !

We spent lovely sunny 12 days at the Villa and its' surroundings. Easy to recommend for this property as well Marche area as whole. Especially the pool area of the Villa is absolutely spot on. I think we spent most of our time there :)
The information and details about the property were accurate and it was easy to deal with the owner.
Great way to spend your vacation in Italy!

About the host
Hosted by Bettina Jeppesen
We, Will & Bettina, are an English/Danish couple who met in Le Marche over twenty five years ago when working as campsite reps by the coast. We have put everything we love about Italy and Le Marche into a smart, very liveable holiday home that is perfect for entertaining and relaxing. We visit the house several times a year but have it carefully managed during rental periods. You will see our love of film, music and fashion displayed on the villa's walls.
Why they chose this property
For us it was all about "Location, location, location" and Alto Cielo was the most beautiful spot we had seen in over three years of house hunting in Le Marche and Puglia. There was even a handy gap in the trees at the bottom of the land where we could build a pool with a rather splendid view!
The villa offers a high degree of privacy yet is surrounded by the daily life of rural Italy.
When we get to the villa we love to sit in the garden with a glass of Verdicchio and take in the views and the tranquility. Every time we say "We never want to leave"!
What makes this property unique
We love to come to the property either on our own or with friends and family and just do our own thing. The stresses of city life immediately melt away.
We love the fact that we have the villa and pool all to ourselves and can do whatever we want, when we want! The house has generous spaces and is very "liveable"!
The kitchen and shaded terrace are built with hospitality in mind but excellent restaurants are just a short drive away.
