Lovely, tasteful and thoughtful refurb of the Stables into a cosy apartment for two. Very well equipped and good garden space. We were there in a chilly October, but heating worked well. The Stables is well located for local country walks or quick trips to the coast for more lovely walking with stunning views.

Thank you both for your kind words! Having stayed in quite a few holiday cottages ourselves, we constantly try to put everything into the cottages that we would like to find to make the holiday the best it can be. Sending future guests a list of what is in the cottages is useful, as they know what to expect and what not to bring with them. There is so much to see and do in this part of Kent (including a day trip to France), and we are ideally placed for exploring the area.
We hope to see you again, and Ziggy is looking forward to it!

Delightful country cottage
Wonderful location. Plenty of nearby attractions to visit. Owners very friendly and helpful if you have any queries. Attention to detail in the accommodation is very good, a great walk-in shower and a lovely welcome hamper. The garden is well kept and nice to sit in the garden and enjoy the sun. Plenty of car parking. Nice and quiet. Would recommend this cottage to anyone.

Stunningly rebuilt stable block
Ask me anything, and my reply would be that everything was excellent. Can't think of anything that could be changed to improve our stay.

Response from VrboOwner on 21 March 2020
Well Ian, thank you so much for your kind words.
We work hard to make sure that the cottages more than live up to their photo's and description. We want guests to be at home, and ask, in our visitor's book in the cottage, for any suggestions to improve the cottages. That's why we put flasks in for days out, and road maps of the UK for those touring the country!
So pleased you enjoyed your stay, and hope to see you and Caroline again.

Fabulous - A hidden gem of a cottage
The description and photos of the property do not do it justice. Its way way better. The facilities were just perfect for two and all finishes to a very high standard. Ann and Rob were very friendly and provided a helpful hamper and fresh flowers for our arrival. Many local places to eat, and within short driving distance of all major towns in East Kent. The most relaxing week I have had in years, and will certainly hope to return.

Perfect cottage
We enjoyed our week staying in The Stables which was beautifully restored and decorated. Anne and Rob extended a warm welcome which included a lovely food hamper with lots of goodies - a thoughtful touch. The cottage was very comfortable and was immaculately clean. Anne had thought of everything you might need to make your stay perfect. There was a delightful terrace to rear of cottage which looked onto lovely gardens - perfect for relaxing over breakfast. A great location for sightseeing in East Kent.

Beautiful
The cottage was the genuine experience. My wife commented that the owner, Anne, had thought of 'absolutely everything' in giving us a fantastic experience.
Beautiful property, ideally located and very reasonably priced. Would definitely return.

Thank you for your kind review. We are ideally located, and with a bus stop 50 yards from the door, it means some of our guests lucky enough to have a buss pass, can leave the car and travel into Canterbury and Sandwich and avoid parking charges etc. We are so fortunate to be close to the ports and Eurotunnel, making a day trip to France simple. The cottages are maintained to within an inch of their lives! We make a point of keeping them up to scratch, as it makes our lives easier too. Our guests, when they arrived, said the cottage was even better than they thought it would be - all our guests say that, and that's how it should be!

Perfect place for a relaxing holiday
The cottage is a lovely place with a great garden and a beautiful veranda. It is luxuriously equipped and close to all the sights in east Kent.
Anne & Rob gave us a very warm welcome and were always ready to help if anything was needed, but at the same time left us alone and let us enjoy ourselves. There were neighbours in the cottage next door, but the veranda is divided in a way that every party has its own space and is not disturbed by the others.
A great walk-in-shower, TV, WIFI, a dining table, a very comfortable bed... The cottage lives up to its description as given on the internet and surpassed our expectations!
Highly recommended

About the host
Hosted by Anne Jolin
We have lived here for 30 years, and Rob has done all the building work himself. Nothing had been done to the house or the outbuildings for years, and it's been a labour of love to restore it. Originally a Market Garden, over the years the land was sold off, and when we came it only had an acre left. The house was built in 1703, and rumour has it that the original barn was burnt down during the Peasant's Revolt. The Roman road which led from Richborough (where the Romans first landed in Britain), runs directly in front of the house. The cottages are set in a pretty courtyard. We are on-site to give you as much (or as little!) help as you need to make sure your stay with us is memorable. We always welcome our guests personally, and will do all we can to make sure you enjoy your holiday.
Why they chose this property
We have been here 30 years. We moved here to be away from the town, and to enjoy a more relaxed way of life. Having said that, we didn't want to be too far away from shops, motorways etc, so think we have the perfect spot! We are ideally situated to explore Kent, and many of our guests do a day trip to France as we are only 25 minutes away from the Ferry port of Dover and Eurotunnel. In fact, one of our guests went to Paris for the day, going on Eurostar from Ashford! We have many fine farm shops locally, some with excellent restaurants selling their own produce. There is so much history in this corner of Kent, with a wealth of castles to visit. The White cliffs at Dover are iconic, and Leeds Castle is stunning. If gardens are your interest, Sissinghurst is amazing. The shops are good too!
What makes this property unique
Although we are on a main road, the house and cottages are set well back, and enjoy a peaceful setting, where you can hear the birds singing. We have jays, both species of woodpeckers, and many more interesting birds visiting the gardens. We are ideally placed to visit all the attractions in Kent, and also to take advantage of day trips to France, and to Paris via Eurostar. We are within easy walking distance of a suberb small animal park - Wingham Wildlife Park. You can often hear the lions roaring, and the monkeys chattering in the mornings (don't worry, they haven't had any escapees!) We offer an oasis to return to after a busy day sightseeing. We have a bus stop within 50 yards to take you to Canterbury, Sandwich, Deal without having to worry about parking the car. We also provide an Nespresso coffee machine.
