About this property
Incredible Country House & Cottage, Huge Garden, Pool & Tennis @OldGlebeWaldron
Old Glebe, Waldron includes the Big House & Stable Cottage with Swimming Pool, Tennis/Footie Court, Pizza Oven & Gas BBQ, Outdoor Kitchen, Table Tennis/Games Room, Sundowner Picnic Area, Trampolene, Croquet Lawn, Open Fires, Aga & Range Cooker and Banqueting Table is situated in an idyllic country location. Offering peace and tranquillity to those looking to escape the hubbub of daily life for a relaxing holiday, yet within an hour on the train from Central London, and just 30 minutes from the south coast beaches.
Waldron, just a few minutes walk across our fields, is perfect in every way. A lovely little village complete with a great pub, cricket club and a romantic church, all set in an area of outstanding natural beauty with fantastic walks. Our eclectically designed home is totally private surrounded by the extensive gardens and farmland, with views over the South Downs to the sea at Beachy Head (from the top floor). Walks from the house are numerous and varied, through fields and woodland, and often ending up at the pub (if you wish).
We have recently completed a major refurbishment of the Big House kitchen and sitting room and redecorated most areas. We’ve ada stunning outdoor kitchen with pizza oven and large Webber gas BBQ. This property is furnished for groups wishing to appreciate a beautiful interior for a calm country break, it is not a party house.
The Big House is exceptionally spacious and sleeps 12 (+2) in 7 bedrooms with 5 bathrooms, 4 of which are en-suite. There are in effect 4 master bedrooms, one which has an open-plan shower room and two have deliciously deep, free-standing baths in the bedrooms. The 3 smaller rooms share a large family bathroom and independent WC.
Stable Cottage sleeps 5 (+1) in 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It could be ideal for staff but is beautifully decorated for extra guests maybe those with young children, or hosts wishing for their own quiet and privacy. The master bedroom has a free-standing bath within the bedroom.
The cottage is never let out to other groups during your stay, so if you only require the main house, you still maintain your privacy and have all the extensive indoor and outdoor facilities for your group.
Whilst the property is priced for up to 16 people, there is room for additional guests (at an extra fee per person), up to a maximum of 22 adults and children may be accommodated across the 2 houses.
At the heart of the Big House is the enormous open plan kitchen and dining area with sofa, central island and and the longest dinning table which seats 16 comfortably, but can squeeze up to 20. If further guests need to eat at one sitting we recommend using the round table from the sitting room or trestles found in the larder.
The large sitting room is comfortably laid out for films, chatting or games all together, with 3 sofas around the open fire and seats in the bay window. The reading snug offers a space to enjoy the papers or for a game of cards away from the main sitting room. Those travelling with children or teenagers will find that the games room, equipped with table tennis, is much appreciated.
Set within our 30 acres of private farmland, the house is found up a long cherry tree lined drive with stunning blossom in season. The 6 acres of landscaped gardens include a well maintained tennis court, footie goals, heated outdoor pool available Spring to Autumn (weather dependent), sun loungers (in season), fitted outdoor kitchen with pizza oven, fridge and gas bbq, dinning tables, trampoline, croquet lawn, fire bowl and orchard. A wooded area with hammocks (in summer) and seating is found near the green house and paths are cut through the woods and long grass for children to explore and enjoy. In one of fields which has the last of the evening sun, a "sundowner" picnic spot has been carved from a fallen tree, with a swing in a near by tree.
Old Glebe is wonderful for the imagination to have an adventure in your own space and land; it is full of surprises with so much attention to detail and you are sure to find something new each time you visit and most of our guests return time and again.

About the host
Hosted by Emily Watkins
Hello,
I am the owner of Old Glebe, which is my personal holiday home and includes treasured items of a quality you might not find in a commercial furnished let. The Big House and Stable Cottage are perfect for large family gatherings. As the youngest of a family of 5 I loved planning our holidays, but could never find a house which was big enough, with a big enough table to all eat together or laid out correctly for multi-generational fun, so I built my own!
I hope you enjoy your holiday and are kind enough to treat the houses and gardens with care and attention, just as you would your own homes. My team and I so much love and attention into Old Glebe to make it a magical place for all our guests.
Thank you,
Laura

Why they chose this property
Old Glebe is a British Rural idyll. Peace and quiet, big skies, views of the South Downs and the coast beyond. All this just 60 minutes from central London on the train.
What makes this property unique
The Big House and Stable Cottage are perfect for a family get together, landmark birthday or friends break. The house has a huge dining room table for a lovely long dinner party and the grounds offer plenty of activities from Tennis, Football, Swimming Pool (Easter to end September), Trampoline, Croquet etc.
Being only an hour by train from London you can spend more time enjoying your holiday and keep travel to a minimum, better for you and better for the environment.
Old Glebe is perfectly situated close to the village and lovely pub, but private in its own grounds. It makes a great base to explore the area, with walks from the house or a short drive to reach the beaches of the South Coast, South Downs and many local attractions. The area is also in one of the sunniest parts of the UK - and that's a fact!
NB: Whilst we are very private, noise carries down to the village and out of respect for our neighbours we request all music to stop at midnight and reasonable noise outside at all times.
