The Moorings is a comfortable spacious townhouse in the centre of Whitby which offers a great place to stay for large family or friends' get-togethers and celebratory weekends. the house has 6 double bedrooms (3 doubles and 3 twins) and 4 shower/bathrooms. a large kitchen/diner and 2 reception rooms with a Sky Sport/Entertainment package (via NOW TV). Directly opposite the property we are lucky enough to be able to offer 3 private parking spaces on our own land which is a major advantage for anyone wishing to park in the centre of the town. The house is situated in a quiet square whilst being only moments away from pubs, cafes and restaurants and a short 5 minute stroll down the town to the harbour and beach. At the rear of the house is a limestone paved patio garden with table, chairs, seating and barbecue - the perfect place to relax with a glass of wine throughout the Summer.
Whitby itself has much to offer with a delightful, quaint old town and harbour and a long, sandy beach reaching northwards to Sandsend. The town has lots of pubs, cafes and restaurants and many thriving independent shops (not forgetting the best fish & chip shops in the UK!). The North Yorkshire Moors National Park is close by as are the coastal villages of Robin Hoods' Bay, Sandsend, Staithes, Runswick Bay and you can hop on board the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway from Whitby Station.
Pannett Park is a beautiful local park in the centre of Whitby and just 5 minutes' walk from the house. Whitby Leisure Centre with its pool and fitness centre is also about a 5 minute stroll. Whitby Golf Course is less than a 10 minute drive away with Ganton Golf Course around a 50 minute drive. Whitby Pavilion on the cliff top 10 minutes' walk from the house presents shows and entertainment all year round as well as a cinema..

We had a fabulous stay at The Moorings. Excellent property for large groups, very spacious and 2 sitting rooms to chill in. Also enough bathrooms to keep everyone happy. Very well maintained and everything you could possible need for a break away (including a designated wine chiller!!) Very central to everything and with the added bonus of 3 parking spaces. Outdoor space very good with large seating area and barbecue.Good communication with the owner throughout and check in process good. Would highly recommend this property to others.

Delighted you had a lovely stay and enjoyed the house. Unfortunately you did not make me aware anyone in your party was a wheelchair user or I would certainly not recommend either our house or Whitby in general which is not a flat location (in fact rises quite steeply upwards from the sea).
The Moorings suited our family get together perfectly. The house was spotless, spacious and located in a convenient position for walks on the beach and shopping for essentials. The weather was brilliant and we were so lucky to get a lovely week away just before corona hit
From the communication from the owner to the standard of the property, it was all excellent and we‘d highly recommend The Moorings. We had an age range from 15-88 with a Spaniel in tow and we all absolutely loved the place and the location. Thank you
The Moorings is a large, very well equipped and clean property in a great location only a few minutes walk away from the harbour or beach.
There are some great cafes, bars and eateries all within walking distance.
The house had everything we could have wanted for our stay. The fact that there were 3 off-road parking spaces was essential as Whitby is such a popular town.
We found the fact that the house had 2 living rooms really good on this occasion as one of them was used for watching the rugby World Cup while the rest of us could chat and chill.
The kitchen is equipped with everything needed to cook for a large group and the fact that all 12 of us could sit round the kitchen table with ease was great.
The beds were extremely comfortable and there was ample bathrooms with good showers as well as a bath in the family bathroom.
Communication with the owner Anne beforehand was very good and our deposit was refunded very promptly afterwards.
All in all, this was a fabulous property and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a large house in the area.

This is a large property that not only comfortably sleeps 12, but also has the facilities to support that many people with 4 bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen with a table we got 12 people around for dinner, and two living rooms to give ample social place. The house is clean, warm and comfortable, and is well located on the West Cliff of Whitby. The parking spaces are a significant benefit too.

Fantastic large house very easy to stay there with parking and central to all Whitby attractions.
This house has everything you could need for a great stay in Whitby the 2 sitting rooms were so
Useful we had one as a playroom for the children and a ‘tidy’ room for the adults. I especially like the big table in the kitchen so we could all be together cooking and eating. Oh and the beds are so comfy Husbands bad back disappeared! We now have to buy a new bed for home! Can’t wait to return.

Tremendous property in wonderful Whitby
The Moorings is an excellent property, located near the centre of Whitby. We stayed there during the October half term holiday. There were 8 of us (4 adults and 4 kids) + one dog.
The location is perfect - 5 minute walk to the beach and harbour, loads of really great cafes, pubs and restaurants nearby and a cracking bakery at the end of the street. There are some really great places to visit near Whitby - Sandsend, Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes.
The house is really spacious and well equipped, with reserved parking spaces for 3 cars at the front of the property.
We would definitely book this property again.

Clean, well-presented, spacious & great location
The communication from the owner was great from the start, very clear instructions on how to get to and access the property. The property was really big and spacious, we were all surprised how big the rooms were. Had everything you could need, facilities to cook, clean, do washing, play games, everything. The beds were comfy and everything very clean. The location was outstanding, quietly tucked away but still so close to the centre and loads to do around it. The ghost walk we did literally went past the bottom of the garden as part of the loop, just showed how central it is! But no problems with noise or anything. Had ample seating area and bathrooms too. Really brilliant, we absolutely loved it and it was perfect for what we wanted. I could have stayed for a week or more! Also had my deposit returned speedily with no issues. Thank you!

Excellent house in a central location!
The house was the perfect place for our family to celebrate an 80th birthday. The house is modern, clean and has everything you need to make your stay very comfortable. The location is excellent and the parking is very handy considering its central location. The owner Anne is very helpful and ensured we had everything we needed for our stay. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Whitby!

Great location - ideal for large family
Excellent location - many amenities and the harbour within a couple of minutes walk. So much to do in Whitby we could have done with a few more days! House has everything you need, convenient parking for three vehicles (essential in such a busy town) and plenty of dvds/games console for bored children on rainy days (we only had one!). Highly recommend the Moorings for large family gatherings or groups.

Ideal for a family gathering

Having reached (at last) a period of my life when I don't have to compromise - the "Moorings " hit the spot perfectly as a nostalgic return to holidays with my mam and dad in Whitby - but in much better accommodation - the house is clean, well appointed and is in the dead centre of town - all of us oldies thoroughly enjoyed it - and we're back next year

Impressive and Ideal location
As a family we love Whitby - and for a family birthday celebration we needed a convenient and large house for the stay. The description was perfect and what made the stay more enjoyable was the dedicated parking directly outside of the Moorings.
Internally it's lovely and cosy with amble space for all, well-appointed and great communication with the owner.
It's central location six mins walk to the harbour so quiet street but in easy reach of the town centre....Ideal
Everyone (aged 12 to 80 ) really loved the stay and wholeheartedly recommend staying at the Moorings. Many thanks Anne.
As back ground we had 4 days there and visited Runswick Bay (just up the cost) the beach is wonderful. Couple of days in Whitby town/Abbey/pubs and last day in Scarborough...Friday night meal was at the Marine and that was fab. ENJOY !

Though from Yorkshire I now live in London but get back to the area often as we now own 3 holiday properties on the North Yorkshire coast. The Moorings is our latest and we've taken great pleasure in renovating the house throughout to a standard we think our guests will appreciate.
Why they chose this property
We had been searching for the right house to buy in Whitby for a while when we came across The Moorings. It's in a perfect position right in the heart of Whitby so you can step out of the house and be enjoying a coffee in one of the several delightful cafes within just a couple of minutes. The house also has its own parking area suitable for 3 cars which as regular visitors to Whitby will know is a major advantage. Despite its central location it is situated in a peaceful, square just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the town to give visitors the best of both worlds.
