About this property
Converted Chapel With A Private Heated Pool
*** Please note that the pool will not be available for bookings at Xmas & New Year ***
A recently converted chapel set in the heart of a rural French village, but with easy access to main travel routes, including Bergerac (25 mins) and Bordeaux (1hr 15 mins) airports. The property features three bedrooms, an open-plan living space and a private heated pool. The original chapel provides the main, double-height lounge area, opening into the new kitchen/dining space. The dining area features 5m bi-fold doors which open onto a terrace and 9x4m private, heated swimming pool. For ease of access, one double bedroom (with en-suite shower room) is situated on the ground floor, making it ideal for people that find it difficult to negotiate steps. A cast iron, spiral staircase leads from the lounge to the first floor onto a large landing area, leading to a double bedroom, twin bedroom (en-suite bathroom) and shower room. A balcony which overlooks the pool is accessible from the upstairs bedrooms. The village has a shop which is ideal for food and essential items, plus fresh daily bread and croissants! The village also has a restaurant which is open weekday lunchtimes and Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

About the host
Hosted by James Linton

Having studied at Sheffield University and had engineering and I.T. companies in the UK, a gradual transition into property development led to the purchase of the ruined chapel in Loubes Bernac in 2011. With only one wall and a swimming pool to start with, the renovation took three years to complete and now provides an ideal holiday location.
Why they chose this property
Set in the north of the Lot-et-Garonne, I'd previously had properties in the Dordogne area, but wanted to venture further south for a mildly better climate and different surroundings. I found the ruined chapel on an internet site and decided it was the perfect project. Three years later it has been transformed into a lovely property in the heart of a quiet French village and makes a convenient and unique holiday location.
What makes this property unique
A converted chapel with hand made stain glass windows based on Matisse drawings. A unique open plan space downstairs with 5.2 meter patio doors opening out onto a patio area with a heated pool. Set in a quiet French village with a shop which is open seven days a week and an excellent restaurant. Conveniently located near to Bergerac Airport and one hour from Bordeaux.
