Characterful Conversion of a Former Chapel in Nidderdale
Woodmanwray Chapel is a newly converted former chapel. Originally built in 1839, it now provides stylish and comfortable accommodation for up to 6 people in a peaceful location in beautiful Nidderdale. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and downstairs there is a large open plan living area with a double sofa bed, dining area and comfortable seating. The kitchen and utility rooms are separate and well equipped. A travel cot and high chair are available on request. The Chapel has been thoughtfully furnished to create a home from home whatever the time of year. It is well insulated with underfloor heating and a log burning stove, for cosy evenings whatever the weather. There is plenty of enclosed outdoor space for ball games and picnics and room to park several cars. Secure storage for bikes is available in a locked bike shed. Nidderdale is a quiet and attractive base for walking and cycling holidays, yet it is only a short car ride from Harrogate with its many amenities. Excellent food shops and restaurants are within easy reach in Pateley Bridge and there are several local pubs within a 10 minute drive.

This is the second time we have stayed at this property. We returned to it because it meets all of our needs. The cleanliness, comfort and amenities are second to none and the location is stunning.
We stayed at the Chapel with friends in 2023 and returned this year with our new baby and Mother in Law and it was wonderful yet again. The Chapel is beautiful, cozy and well stocked with everything we needed for a long weekend. Highly recommend to anyone considering staying!! It's not only the Chapel that is beautiful, the surrounding area is stunning and filled with great places to visit. We'll definitely stay again in the future! 10 out of 10 In every feature.
We stayed whilst visiting family in Harrogate. The accomodation itself is very well maintained, clean and comfortable. Location is quiet and views great. 25 to 30 mins into Harrogate, 10 mins to Pateley Bridge. Would definitely recommend.
The host was very kind to stock the house very well and turn the heating on before our arrival. Very quick response to me contacting them during the stay. Characterful building and peaceful surroundings.
Beautiful conversion of a former chapel which is full of character yet retains a warm welcoming feeling. Set in a stunning location with all round views of the yorkshire countryside. Extremely clean and comfortable, fabulous for our family break
A wonderful place to stay, very comfortable and clean. Breathtaking scenery and very close to fun outings. The recommendations of the owner are spot on and very much appreciated.
We would definitely book again if we need a place in the neighborhood.

Amazing property
We had a fabulous few days , enjoying the quietness of this beautiful cottage
It's decor and standard was A1, we felt at home and really enjoyed the rest
Perfect property in a super location
Clean, snug and warm, great to come back to after a day out exploring the countryside.
Highly recommend this property.
The Chapel has been converted to an exceptionally high standard and was spotlessly clean. It's a beautiful part of the world and we couldn't have wished for a more relaxing trip. Highly recommend.
We've returned after visiting last year to re-live this incredible accommodation and location.
It has been every bit as amazing as it was previously and we still didn't get enough and neither did our twin girls who keep saying it's their second home.
Well recommended to anyone interested in booking - just do it! :D.
Thank you, Alison!
A beautiful property in excellent clean condition. The surroundings are stunning and we were treated to lots of lambs as neighbours! The Easter cakes, farm eggs and tea/coffee left by the owner was also a nice touch. We'll be back!
We stayed 4 nights in this beautiful house, in the early summer of 2023. The house is nicely decorated, is very quietly located and fully equipped. The location is ideal for exploring the area: both beautiful walks and culture. Many sheep and many birds.
Highly recommended!
Beautifully maintained and very well equipped property in an ideal location in the wonderful Nidderdale AONB. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area on foot, and on bikes whilst looking forward to returning to our luxury accommodation for the evening. Fully recommend.
Woodmanwray Chapel is a delightful property set in beautiful Yorkshire countryside. We walked and cycled from the property and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There is so much to see and do in the area. The property itself is beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable. Absolutely no criticisms at all - a wonderful holiday destination.
We had a lovely week's stay at the cottage. It was clean and comfortable and the views were wonderful. It felt like home as soon as we walked in and it had everything we needed. The welcome pack of goodies was lovely and very appreciated. I would certainly recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to get away from it all and be surrounded by beautiful scenery.
Immaculately clean and comfortable property in a lovely location. Very well equipped with absolutely everything you could need. Plenty of attractions nearby and a little further afield. Lots of wildlife to watch and listen to. Unable to fault it.
We enjoyed a lovely stay in Woodmanwray Chapel. Our children loved it to play around the house and to watch the sheep around the house. We loved the silence. The house is spacey and very clean. Everything works and our host is very kind. I highly recommend this property.

Well equipped and very clean accommodation. Nice quiet rural location
We enjoyed 3 night stay at this well equipped accommodation. The location was fantastic. A real get away from it all. The access to footpaths literally on the doorstep made our walking weekend very easy.
The layout of the conversion is very well thought out while keeping to the original purpose of the building with subtle nods to its chapel history.
Alison the owner was very attentive to our needs and we felt very welcome.
A fantastic place to stay

About the host
Hosted by Alison Simpson
My name is Alison Simpson and I live with my family on a neighbouring farm. If you come to Woodmanwray Chapel you will probably meet some of our farm animals! You may well see our sheepdogs being trained and we will certainly bring you some of our eggs. We are really proud of the Chapel and hope that all of our visitors will love it as much as we do. We think you will find that Nidderdale is a great place to visit.
Why they chose this property
Its a great location as its really quiet and peaceful, yet there is lots to do just a short drive away. Harrogate with its restaurants and shops is only a 20 minute drive away and from there you can take a train to the amazing city of York. Nidderdale offers charming scenery, lots of 'foodie' shops and friendly people. There are ideas for walks and cycle rides in the cottage and for kids of all ages there are gorges to walk, rocks to climb and rivers to paddle in.
What makes this property unique
Although the Chapel is completely modernised it still retains a lot of its original charm in the stained glass windows and stone sun porch.
