Marina Boathouse is a unique place to escape and relax. Situated within the prestigious Windermere Marina it overlooks the channel flowing out into the lake as well as the marina itself. Take our champagne bucket out onto the balcony, relax and watch the boats go by, the herons and the cormorants; you might even get to see the otter or kingfisher. Just a 10 minute walk from the bustling lakeside village of Bowness-on-Windermere, it is the perfect place to stay and enjoy all that the Lake District has to offer. Climb a mountain or take a stroll along the shore to Bowness Bay where you can take a cruse on the lake. Everything is here for you to enjoy your holiday in our well equipped apartment, at a pace to suit you. Explore the fells or the quirky and unique local shops. Fish for your supper or try some of our fabulous restaurants. Try out some water sports or hop on the ferry across the lake and visit Beatrix Potter's house at Far Sawrey. If you don't fancy the night life of Bowness the twinkling lights of the marina from the balcony make a beautiful romantic setting.

Lovely, clean flat, very well equipped, host has thought of everything. Short walk to centre Bowness 20min walk. Host kept in touch as lake levels were up due to heavy rain incase car park flooded but all was fine. Plenty of activity on the Lake to watch while sitting on balcony between wild life and boats coming and going. We had a fabulous time here and plan on returning.

Great short break

This property was ideal for the 2 of us. Very clean, comfortable and well equipped. So easy to walk into Bowness , with a good range of shops and eateries and boat trips to other attractions that we had no use for car during our 4 day stay. The Boathouse eatery had good range of food/drinks too.

Modern, clean, comfortable apartment in a interesting location with views of boats entering the Marina and wildlife. Restaurant on-site and many more in Bowness, e.g. Roberto's for tapas. Highly recommended.

Marina - Bowness on Windermere

Make elderly people aware that there are a number of steps to negotiate to enter the apartment and staircase to reach the door of the apartment. Otherwise good facilities and excellent view from balcony. Good location for touring the Lake District.

Just perfect

The apartment was fabulous . Beautifully modernised, very well equipped, spotlessly clean and a stunning location. Superb views over the inlet into the Marina and plenty of wildlife to watch from the lounge or balcony. A ten minute walk from Bowness shops etc yet a quiet and peaceful place to relax. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and this lovely "boathouse" will be our first choice if we visit Bowness in the future. The great weather made our visit "perfect plus".

Fantastic hideaway, just perfect!

What a beautiful little hideaway, immaculately maintained and lots of personal touches. Excellent communication either side of our visit and blown away by the detail from the lollipops to maps to binoculars. Couldn't have wanted more for a cosy winter break. Beautifully maintained accommodation with everything you could need. A great location to feel completely away from it all yet just a short walk into Bowness. I can only apologise it's taken so long to leave a review!

Fabulous Boathouse

What a fabulous Boathouse. It was perfect. All the fittings and Kitchen were of the best quality. We especially loved the balcony doors. We have a day room in our own house with bi-fold doors that bring the outside in and in the summer months they are open most days. Ideally situated to explore the region. Nice watching all the boats going in and out of the marina.

Fab Little Place!

We have recently returned from a stay at the Marina Apartment and really enjoyed it. It has been modernised to a very high standard and is exceptionally clean and tidy. The apartment is about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Bowness, making it just far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Ideal for a couple who likes a bit of peace and quiet. Having the balcony is a real bonus - we actually managed breakfast outside - and in October that is pretty good! The wall to wall glass doors out to the balcony are ideal for watching the boats and wildlife. We walked up into Windermere one day, it would only take about 30-40 minutes from the apartment, however it took us much longer as we browsed the shops and stopped for coffee and cake. Bowness and Windermere have lots of pubs and restaurants for you to enjoy, or if you prefer to eat in, the kitchen at the apartment has everything you would need to prepare a meal. The owners were very easy to deal with. They even left us a little box of chocolates for our arrival.

Escape from COVID prison

After a year of staying home it was wonderful to visit the Lakes for a few days. Catherin's apartment has been beautifully remodelled. Spotlessly clean, well equipped and exactly as described on the website. The bedroom and bathroom are best described as "bijou" but perfectly well laid out. The shower was very modern, spacious and provided ample hot water from the electric control. It is wonderfully situated for local walks and amenities with special sunset views. It was warm and welcoming to come back to from cold days out. All in all a very enjoyable stay, our car did not move for the 5 days we were there! Thank you Cathy for letting us share your lovely boathouse.

Lovely apartment

We had a great stay here. The property was clean and tidy and just as it appears in the listing pictures. The location at the entrance to the Marina means you can just sit on the balcony and watch boats come and go all day. It's within about 15 minutes walk from the boat piers in Bowness and the local public transport system means it's really easy to get about - we used our car just twice during the whole week. If we come back to the Lake District we would definitely consider staying here again.

Beautiful Boathouse

Our stay here was wonderful. This Boat house is beautifully situated,with a fantastic view of the Marina (Great for Birdwatching). The facilities were great and there were some lovely personal touches. A lot of care and attention goes into the presentation of this place. The only slight issues were the wi-fi ( it was very intermittent) and the shower pressure (you need a good hose down after a long walk). The owner was very professional and helpful. The Boat house is close to the village of Bowness and Windermere so there is plenty to do. We would definitely like to stay again! Thank you.

Perfect home from home

Beautifully decorated modern boathouse,10 minutes walk from all bars and restaurants. Or 3 pounds in a taxi. The apartment is very high spec throughout. Comfy bed, fresh fluffy towels and more kitchen appliances than we have at home. Fab views through the picture window of the marina. Which also has a nice bar. Lovely place to chill and watch the worl go by. Fab communication from owners. We love Bowness, and will definetly return to the boathouse in the future. Thank you for a very relaxing stay. Wish we were still there :)

Perfect quiet location in the heart of the Lake District, just a stroll away from Bowness. It was a pleasure waking up every morning watching the boats and wildlife go by. Lovely Property

Easy to book with good information provided by the owner. Great location very tranquil, only a short walk to Bowness on Windemere which has lots of very good places to eat and drink. The Boathouse has been decorated to a high standard and is well equipped. A bottle of Prosseco and chocolates was a lovely surprise on arrival The swans arrived every morning for breakfast and enjoyed feeding them from the balcony with the bird food provided, as well as the robin which was also a regular visitor. Will definitely book again.

This is a wonderful apartment to stay in while visiting the Lakes District. We liked that it was close to town but far enough away that it was peaceful and relaxing. Beautiful view, excellent kitchen and plenty of space. And we got to see the otters on the otter cam which was a real treat!

Relaxing comfortable and quiet

We stayed here for three nights and our stay was very relaxing and comfortable. The apartment is beautiful and we had everything we needed for our stay. The apartment was spotless with stunning views. Loved feeding the birds from the bird seed provided. We had lots of guidebooks to read and lots of advice from the owner. We walked into town that didn't take long about a mile along the paths. We would recommend this apartment to anyone who wants peace and quiet.

Our second stay

This is a wonderful place to stay for a relaxing holiday. It is very clean, well equipped and is exactly as described in the listing. The owner is a joy to speak with on the phone and the wine and sweets went down a treat! It is very well situated for touring the Lake District. We also spend a lot of time just admiring the view from the settee! We would definitely recommend The Boathouse to friends. And we hope to be back next year.

A delightful apartment at a perfect location

Excellent description how to find the property. The apartment was very clean, well furnished and contained all you might need for self catering - and more. The chocolates on arrival were appreciated, as was milk in the fridge, paper towels and also a 'starter kit' of tea and coffee. The view from the balcony onto the marina is delightful. The area map was also very helpful. The location was perfect. Blessed with excellent weather we had a great time and would book again.

A truly magical place

Cathy is certainly a wonderful host who looked after us very well. This included communication before, during and at the end of our stay and lovely touches such as chocolates and a bottle of bubbly. We were lucky enough to celebrate our 30 year wedding anniversary at Bowness on Windermere to wake up to magic scenery in a very quiet, clean and well equipped apartment. The apartment is in a magic spot overlooking the lake. It's a short stroll to Bowness and not very far from Windermere. We highly recommend staying at the apartment and would definitely stay again when we visit the area.

Wonderful Boathouse

Have never booked privately before but would definitely recommend. Communication was fantastic prior to arrival with easy to follow directions and instructions. Boathouse was lovely clean and well maintained. The bottle of bubbly was a lovely touch for our Silver Wedding Anniversary. The small touches I.e the sweets, milk and get you started tea coffee were a great touch. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay especially the otter cam which made a refreshing change to normal TV. The view from the balcony was stunning especially sitting of an evening. Would highly recommend the evening sunset tour of a Lake Winderemere especially after a day walking up to Brantfell with stunning 360 degree views using the maps provided in the boathouse. Will definitely rebook and recommend.

Why they chose this property

The property has been in the family since my Grandfather and a local builder built it in 1965.After being used as a family retreat for many years my husband and I completely renovated it and gave it a new modern look in 2013.

What makes this property unique

The Marina Boathouse is perfectly situated for the vast amount of things the Lake District has to offer. Whether it's a fell walk up Brantfell, a cruse on the lake, a night at the theatre in Bowness, boutique shopping, a huge choice of restaurants and bars, the Motor Museum at Backbarrow,the art at Blackwell or a full range of water sports; it's all on the doorstep. Look out for the otter and the kingfisher that frequent the banking.
