The house was very clean and organised and the furnishing was made with heart. Anytime we had questions we got response quickly. A stunning and calming place to stay and rest.
The owner, Julie, was very helpful and great with communication. a lovely welcome pack presented on arrival gave it a very nice touch. The Lodge is beautifully furnished and well set up with 3x large double bedrooms. Amazing views and location for the beach, long walks or a trip over to Plymouth via the foot ferry. Restaurant on site is great too. I highly recommend a visit here.

I’m glad to hear you had a lovely time .
Thank you for choosing my property for your holiday .
Thank you for the lovely review
The property was in a fabulous location and easy to get to along Military Road. The property was well equipped and spacious for the 5 of us. The addition of the hot tub was a bonus but there was no way to turn down the temperature on a really hot day. The sunsets were spectacular and something to see! Julie is really helpful and responsive to any questions. Overall a super lodge and somewhere we all would recommend.
The lodge is a wonderful base from which to explore Cornwall. It is within a short walk of Tregonhawke beach, which is gorgeous. The property manager is very responsive and gives you guidance on what to and where to dine.
Would definitely staying here! The house is clean and wonderfully decorated and the hot tub is ideal! Just a short walk down to the beach and lots of local walks to pubs nearby too.

Thank you for your review, I am glad you had a lovely holiday 😄
Lodge was very welcoming & spacious, with nice furnishing, beds comfortable, The view was absolutely beautiful, not many places you can see farms, sea & a city in one view! The trek from the car down to the lodge was unexpected for us & getting a weeks worth of luggage for 4 plus grocery shopping was a mission, even worse getting everything back up! Same with the local beach it was a stunning beach but access was very difficult we drove to Cawsand to be able to take our paddle boards down which was what we had planned on spending a lot of time doing. Had a few issues with cleanliness but communication was good & offer of a re clean was appreciated. Kitchen very well equipped in lots of ways, but we couldn’t find a cheese grater or a measuring jug? Hot tub was a great way to end the day, looking out over the stunning view.
Lovely property with everything you need away from home.
The location is secluded, which may not suit everyone but a short walk to a great beach. (it is steep and tidal)
The hot tub was fab, clean and ready to jump straight into.

The lodge is situated in a less busy part of Cornwall with lovely views and very close to beaches. Always something to look at from the peaceful verandah and hot tub. It is a quiet site that is gradually adding further amenities. Owner Julie is easily contactable and forthcoming with the essential arrival and departure information. Overall, a very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Lovely Holiday Chalet with plenty of room for our party of 5 adults. Welcome pack was a nice touch and our Host provided everything you needed for cooking, serving etc. Hot tub was put to good use every day. Gorgeous views over the hills and to Torpoint. Perfect location for us as had a family wedding at Polhawn Fort.

This is a great place to explore the forgotten corner of Cornwall from. Julie the host is very helpful and friendly. The lodge is unusually well equipped with all the bits and bobs you take for granted at home. . Views are fantastic, with local access to some of the best beaches and the site has recently much improved facilities. Highly recommend.

We travelled to Whitsands Bay for a relaxing getaway and weren’t disappointed on arrival. The chalet lodge was clean and tidy and perfect for what we wanted.
3 decent sized bedrooms and all the amenities you need to make your stay comfortable.
The resort itself was very nice with friendly staff, a great restaurant and a swimming pool for the children.
The lodge overlooks fields and beautiful views which were great to gaze over at sunset and first thing in the morning.
You are a short walk from The beach and although a bit of a climb back up at low tide the beach goes on for miles.
Really enjoyed our time away and would definitely go back.
Nice property, well managed, clean, development is a little run down
Nice property in a beautiful part of the world. The manager is fantastic to work with and the property is cared for. It is a house in a large development that is not cared for. I understand the owner cannot control this but it did make it very difficult for my 70 year old parents as the walkway to the place is a little hazardous (and there is a ghost pool that looked amazing at one time). Especially for the price this is a wonderful location and we recommend it highly!

Hi Daniel
Thank you for your comments about our property. I am the owner and manage it , so glad to hear you thought I did a good job 😄, and that you enjoyed the lodge.
Unfortunately the paths are true Cornwall style , a bit rustic! I was unaware that you were taking elderly parents otherwise I would have told you that the paths are not really suitable. I understood that were two adults and two children as this was what put on the booking form.
I hope you had a safe trip home
Thank you for booking with me
Julie
We enjoyed a lovely week. The lodge proved to be a good base for enjoying the local beaches, villages and generally exploring the area.
The lodge was clean, spacious, very well equipped and has a great view from the balcony which you can also enjoy when relaxing in the hot tub.
We love the area and would certainly like to re-visit.
The only negative for us was the on-site "restaurant". We ate their twice. First time was on the night of arrival as we were tired so just stayed local. Food was just ok. Second time around the food was terrible and although the bar staff were very good and refunded our meals (raw chicken) it was a very disappointing experience. Nevertheless, we had a great time overall and would definitely recommend staying in Julie's Lodge.

Thank you for your review, I am glad you enjoyed your stay at the lodge. The area is lovely and plenty to explore which you clearly did 😄
I am so sorry to hear of your experience in the restaurant. I personally have never been in there because I am private owner we don’t tend to use the park facilities. As you said I have a very well equipped kitchen and there are lots of lovely local restaurants.
I would love to welcome you back if you would like to come again in the future
All the best

Overall the property was well stocked with everything you need and the views are lovely.
However on arrival the place smelled really doggy and we had to open all the windows. We later discovered during the week when we did a hoover through it was the Henry hoover. I think the bag or filters need changing.
The drawers in the bedrooms were a bit dirty and there were spiders and webs on the ceiling in a bedroom and dog hairs on one of our beds and the outdoor seating. The hot tub also had dirt in it. So I think maybe the cleaner needs a word.
I did report all this to the owner when we left but she did not respond to me. Previously she had been quite friendly. I think she thought we were complaining instead of giving feedback, but if that was the case we would have kept ringing her while we were there. Instead we just cleaned things up and got on with it.
The outside lighting also doesnt work so we couldnt see to take the dogs out at night, which was quite dangerous.
Worse than that was a metal spike sticking out of the grass near the path by the steps to the Lodge which my niece stood on in her slippers. She was very lucky it didnt go through her foot.
Also trying to get our luggage down a steep gravel hill and steps a good 20 metres from the car park is no joke. It is slippery and you have to be pretty fit to manage it. We also fell out with other residents as we were not told that we were only allowed one parking space and we were 6 people coming in 3 cars. We just parked in empty spots only to find out they belonged to other Lodges.
On the plus side, when we overcame these obstacles we had a lovely holiday.
The hot tub was a lovely way to unwind every evening and the Lodge has lovely furniture and is very comfortable.
I feel Julie felt me telling her about the few issues we had was a bad thing and not constructive and a way for her to improve things as she didnt respond to my text message at all.
We were only trying to be helpful. The only true downsides I see are the distance you have to carry your luggage. Everything else is fixable.

Hi Karen,
On a positive note I’m glad to hear that overall you enjoyed your stay at the lodge. I am however disappointed that a few things were not up to standard. With the journey from the car park to the lodge I do generally make people aware that it is not direct access so I apologise if I did not warn you. With the car park spots themselves they are all numbered clearly however there are generally spare spaces so parking tends to not be an issue. In regards to the cleaning I am sorry you felt this way, as generally we don’t have any complaints instead guests tend to say how tidy it is, but I will make sure to pass on your comments. The metal stake is actually on the land which belongs to the site and I have previously notified them about this. As it is still an issue though I will bring it to their attention again. Unfortunately I’m not aloud to rectify this due to it being the parks property. With the outside lighting I will make to check this and ensure there is adequate lighting, so thank you for bringing this to my attention. When it comes to me, I apologise that you feel there was a lack of communication. Your message after you left must have got caught up and I seem to have missed it as I always make sure I am quick to reply to guests.
One again I apologise though, overall I am glad that despite a few issues you had a nice holiday!
Thank you,
Julie
Vielen Dank an Julie
Fantastic location and very comfortable property. Had a lovely few days here, walking distance to a wonderful beach if you put the effort into the steps. Great attractions and lovely villages nearby to visit. Hot tub was lovely.
Site was quiet which really suited us (there was a bar and entertainment if that’s what you want).
Drive to the site is a bit of an ordeal down single track lanes, if you follow the satnav, but there is a good road if you go via Antony.
All in all had a great time and would happily go back.
Lovely furniture, plenty of equipment in the kitchen, really comfy beds, good hot showers, lovely hot tub. All really really clean and smelt lovely too. Great communication with owner before we left and while we were there. Would definitely recommend and would go back. Whitsand Bay is very quiet but with great cafe en route down the cliff. Be prepared for a steep but beautiful walk down!

I love when you find a property to stay for a week and it feels homily with a good comfortable sofa to watch the tele. The kitchen is super well equipped with high end appliances. The views from the hot tub are stunning and you can see cows, sheep, horses a glimpse of the sea. Everything was just perfect and Julie is very responsive and accommodating. Highly recommended.

Hi Junior
Thank you for your lovely review! I am glad you guys had a lovely holiday and look forward to welcoming you back some time in the future .
Wonderful spacious lodge with everything you need and amazing views! The hot tub was a great addition. The facilities are not as advertised, which is not a problem when the weather is good and the site is a bit rundown and unkept. Julie was really helpful and very responsive. The beach is great, definitely worth the steep climb. We had a lovely holiday.

About the host
Hosted by Julie Jouning
My name is Julie, my family and I have spent many happy holidays down in Cornwall. Whitsand is a beautiful place. I remember when I first saw the location and fell in love with it straight away. Even years on the views still take my breath away. I have two children both in their 20’s who still love going to Cornwall and live near Ascot.
Why they chose this property
We chose this location as we wanted a real get away and the perfect change of scenery . It is the perfect get away! This coast line is so beautiful, the beach is never busy. It is also dog friendly all year round. There is a great cliff top cafe which sells home made food and they will make you up rolls to take to the beach. There are also vegan and gluten free options .
What makes this property unique
The property is easy to maintain and within 5 mins of arriving we can be sat down with a glass of wine, open up the French doors and enjoy the fabulous views ! The hot tub is extremely popular and is for sole use of this property. It is treated with chlorine so if you or your children have skin conditions please be aware.
