Amazing house with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and great lounge area with stunning views of the South Cornwall Sea and St. Michael's Mount. Great coastal walkways and several beaches near by. Perfect in all seasons for all ages. Sleeps 6/7.
The Space:
You'll feel like you've landed in the most beautiful mirage when you arrive. The house is airy, welcoming and has the most beautiful views - no matter the weather. With an open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge, everything is located on one floor for easy access for all ages (except the coolio single bed on the mezzanine in the second bedroom which is a must for teens!). It's fully equipped and towels and linens are freshly supplied for each guest.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the house and the garden. There are two parking spaces in front of the house. The house is self contained and full of books and brochures to wet the appetite for everything you can do in the local area.
The Neighborhood:
The house is an old barn that sat on the Trebarvah Farm. This is still a working potato and cauliflower farm. There are a few converted cottages near by, but the house is very private. Beaches are a matter of minutes away with a great pub and two cafe's only 5-7 minute walk through the coastal path. The cottage sits on the South Cornwall coastal path, so you'll see not only the dramatic cliffs and ocean, but a host of birds and flora to keep you inspired with nature.
Getting Around:
You will want to have a car. There are so many wonderful sites around, but you'll need a car to reach them. We are at the end of the farm lane, so you'll want your own transport.
Other Things to Note:
There is a organic farm shop near the house and a Tesco, Sainsbury and Morrison Superstores in Penzance, which is 2-3 miles away.
Interaction with Guests:
We won't be there as we live in London. This is our home away from home, but entry is easy through a key lock box. We'll give you the code once your booking is confirmed.

Amazing cottage with all the amenities. The photos don’t do this place justice. It’s stunning. The perfect resting spot for a holiday in Cornwall if you’re there to soak in the beautiful coastline!
We have stayed at The Old Carthouse several times.
This is a beautiful property offering panoramic views of Mounts Bay.
The house is spacious and well equipped. Very comfortable and clean.
Fabulous lush garden and patio to sit and watch the sun set.
We absolutely loved staying in this beautiful home! The gorgeous views, easy walk to beach and village, and overall great location made for a lovely holiday. The home is very well appointed with everything you could possibly need, and was spotless on arrival. The owner was very easy to communicate with and provided helpful details regarding directions and the location in general. Would absolutely love to stay again!!! Thank you!

Susan, Thank you for such a great review. We hope you'll come back to Old Carthouse or one of our other homes in the area. Have a great summer!
It's our third time staying at the carthouse and we absolutey love it there! Such a beautiful property and the views are to die for! We had a slight issue with full bins on arrival but Katherine soon sorted that out, thank you! We have booked another property next year due to an increase in our party but will most likely be back again the year after

Louise, keep us in mind for larger groups. We have a house that sleeps 10 and another in the village that sleeps 15. Do let us know how we can help!

Cornwall coast
The property was fantastic. It was exactly as pictured and described. We were delighted. The only hitch was that an incorrect entry code was sent in the last email, which also lacked contact information, causing some angst until resolved.
Generally speaking very good, couple of minor things lamp over en suite basin not working and seperate bathroom plug problem. We didn't inform manager about these because they didn't bother us. We had been informed that dishwasher was playing up, but a new one is on order. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, the property being just a short walk to the beach and close enough to many other interesting places, it was an enjoyable stay.

Beautiful house and spectacular vie
This is a beautiful modern house overlooking Mount St Michael. We loved the accessibility of the local village with its quaint inn and also the proximity of the SW coast path. A bit of confusion getting into the property with an access code that had been changed ( finally found the correct code in a message). Also had alight out in the master bathroom. We had fine communication with the owner beforehand but difficult to reach on site.
We loved arriving to scones, clotted cream and jam and fresh flowers. All in all a lovely home and we really enjoyed our stay.
Lovely, comfortable accommodation with views to die for. Coastal walks from the door. Superb pub / restaurant and cafés in Perranuthnoe.
All facilities expected, except the dishwasher, which was not working during our stay.
We had an amazing week at Perranuthnoe. The location is great for an active family - short walk down the hill to the beach and fab beach cafe (pizza night, a must!). The house is great - superb views and sunsets. Everything you could need for your holiday. Great stuff…!
I can not rate this house higher! It is perfect- views to die for, lovely facilities, so comfortable and in the best family spot- walking distance to a beach and pub. What more could you ask for? We had a fantastic holiday, seeing old friends and family and this was the perfect place.
Thank you, we shall certainly be back!
We stayed here for new year and it was amazing. The house is just perfect, location and views. Kitchen is well equipped for even making a full roast dinner on NYD! I would defo recommend the pub in the village, service and food. We will most definitely be back!
We had a marvelous stay in the Old Carthouse. The ocean views are spectacular! The house is situated to take full advantage of the views overlooking St. Michael's Mount and the coastline.
The house is beautifully decorated and furnished - the stonework and woodwork are lovely. Everything is modern, tasteful and functional... everything is there that you need - just unpack your bags and enjoy!
We did lots of walking along the Coastal Path and it's practically outside your door... couldn't ask for a more perfect location!
The cottage and back garden are very private and quiet but it's just a short drive to Penzance for shopping and eating. Several major supermarkets are also just minutes away.
Many thanks to Katherine for being such a gracious host. The lovely vase of fresh roses upon our arrival, as well as the fresh scones and jam, were an extra special touch! We hope to be back again!

Everything you could possibly think of was available at this property (minus a bbq). Amazing views, very tranquil, lovely coastal walk down to the cove.
We had a fantastic week at the old cart house. It is set in a great location and well appointed with everything you might need. The rooms are spacious and the view of St.michael’s mount will live with me forever!
Beautiful home, stunning views, great location. This was our 4th year on holiday at The Old Carthouse - can't recommend it highly enough.

Thank you so much and so pleased you were happy with your stay. I hope you enjoyed (noticed) the upgrades in the rooms and look forward to you staying again!!! Kathleen
From the moment we walked into The Old Carthouse with that view in front of us we were totally bewitched. The Barn is so well furnished & equipped with everything you would need throughout your stay. The lovely garden is private & sheltered even if it rained you can still sit out at the large table under the canopy & watch the weather pass over the village & countryside, we have loved it & will be back.

Superschönes Haus in traumhafter Lage.

Very well appointed
The old carthouse was a 5 star home away from home. The home is bright and clean. We were greeted with fresh flowers, delicious scones, clotted cream and jam. And that view!!! Wow!!! St Michaels mount was the highlight of a stunning panorama of the ocean. Location was fabulous. Short drives to st Ives, land's End and about an hour and a half from tintagel castle. The coastal path just outside our door! If we ever return to this area we would definitely stay here again.

About the host
Hosted by Kathleen Gearhart- Filmer
We are the Filmer family from London and The Old Carthouse is our home away from home. With two children aged 16 and 11, they are literally bursting with excitement every time we head to Perranuthnoe.
Why they chose this property
You only need take one look at this property and the location to absolutely fall in love it. It really offers the best of both worlds, with plenty to do within a few miles of the house and one of the most beautiful beaches in Cornwall, it is truly a home for any time of the year.
With Penzance just three miles away, you can easily obtain whatever you need from the huge range of cafes, restaurants and shops. Closer to the house and within a 15 minute walk is an excellent and friendly farm shop that sells a wide range of food, with a very good stock of organic and gluten free options. Then there is the village pub in Perranuthnoe, easily reached from the house on foot and serving some of the best dishes and Cornish beers that you'll ever taste.
What makes this property unique
The house is located at the end of a lane which is a no through road. We have neighbours, but only a few so you can enjoy an extremely quiet and relaxed location without feeling that you are totaly removed from the world. There are numerous paths to walk along that run by the property and you can walk to the village and beach within 15 minutes.
The beach at Perranuthnoe is beautiful and unspoilt. It really is a local hangout that doesn't get taken over by hoards of people. The locals of all ages come to this spot two or three times a day, every day to surf and swim, as the beach is very safe, sandy and easily accessible.
Finally, we must mention the sunset. To sit on the terrace in our garden and watch the sun disappear behind St. Michaels Mount each day is an endless joy.
