About this property
Cosy cottage with large garden in gorgeous rural setting.
Waterfall Cottage was renovated in 2015. The property is set in its own grounds on the outskirts of the village. It has 3 bedrooms, a king size, a double and 2 singles which are only accessible through the Master bedroom so ideal for little ones. For this reason we recommend the cottage for 4 adults and 2 children. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen, dining room and cosy snug with Smart TV for cosy nights in front of the log burner or alternatively BBQ on the terrace on a summers evening and soak up the tranquility of the area. The garden has raised levels along one side so toddlers will need a watchful eye on them which you can do whilst relaxing in the hammock. We accept one well behaved dog with prior consent. We request that pets aren't allowed on the furniture or upstairs at the property.

Another great stay at Waterfall cottage. Property is fab, lovely location, and Tracey always helpful in providing local recommendations. We will be returning again!
Enjoyed the location of the property, lovely and rural with the cows waking us up in the morning. Short drive to many of the local beaches. Definitely stay again at this property.
A lovely cottage in a stunning location. We spent 5 wonderful nights here and enjoyed every moment. The host was fantastic with excellent comms throughout. Would highly recommend!
Second time we have stayed here. Always a wonderful place to stay. Very clean and had everything we needed and plenty of logs to use in the fire. Fabulous location, in easy reach of some great beaches. Nice pub in the village that served good food, which was a bonus.
We had a very pleasant stay at waterfall cottage. The cottage is perfect for a family stay! Peaceful surrounding.
Tracey is a very kind host!
We had a great time.
A short break in halftime term - lovely location and a beautiful house. Peaceful for us all as a family to relax in and use as a base for day trips out to a whole host of locations nearby. Look forward to coming back!
Great for families and people wanting a quiet holiday. Great area for exploring the Jurassic coast. Close to local pub, great grounds. Plenty of room. What more can we say. Communication with the owner Tracey was great, an easy going pleasant holiday destination.
We had another fantastic stay at Waterfall cottage in Dalwood, thank you Tracey. The property was great for our family, nice and cosy, and had everything we needed. Loads of good places/beaches to visit within a 20 minute drive or so, whilst we also enjoyed the delights of Dalwood including a superb dinner at the Tuckers Arms. No doubt we will be back visiting again soon!
An absolutely wonderful break. A very well equipped property, surrounded by fields. We had calves as neighbours. A compact cottage with wonderful grounds and beaches only 15 minutes away. Didn’t want to leave! Thank you so much.
Beautiful Devon corrage in stunning countryside location.
Lovely small traditional cottage with lovely safe outside space, with vviews of buttercup meadows, cows and new born calves. My grandaughter loved the trampoline in the garden. The pretty village has a welcoming community shop and pub serving delicious food and only a 10 minute walk. A real getting away from it all destination yet close to great days out. We will be back.
Really the finest rental property we’ve stayed in. Setting, aesthetics, equipment level, comfort … all fabulous. We already re-booked for ourselves, our 2 year old and our little dog to return in August for 11 nights. Particular highlights were the extensive garden with hammock and trampoline, the family-friendly layout of the cottage which stays beautifully cool on hot days, and views of the hillsides. Thanks to Tracey, booking and arriving were a pleasure.
A very enjoyable stay at this village property with large garden. recommended . country with very short drive to the coast, so best of both worlds. Equipped with everything you need. Garden games room keeps children happy.
We had a very good holiday at the cottage. It was even more beautiful then the pictures showed. It is very tranquil, surrounded by meadows and a nice creek, but with the village easily in distance. Contact with the owners was very pleasant! Our children were sad to leave (especially their own gaming room with all the games available).
Thank you so much for letting us stay in your home.
The perfect base to explore the Jurassic Coast and the bucolic hinterlands of Devon and Dorset. Beautiful rolling pastures with baby cows. Immaculate accommodation. Perfect local pub. Great for families and dogs. Timely and helpful communication with hosts. We’ll be back! Thank you :)
Just as advertised. A beautiful kept property with lots of charm! The setting is secluded and you will have to negotiate some narrow country lanes but it’s worth it. We had a very comfortable stay with my our young children and my parents- the shared door bathroom with bedrooms wasn’t a problem for us. Stairs are very steep but the children learnt to handle them safely. They loved the trampoline and hammock outside! And the games room was a fun extra place to explore. Local pub serves delicious food and the local play park is delightful (4 mins drive) We enjoyed the old fashioned trams at Seaton and the nearby wildlife park with lots of animals. Tracey was a brilliant host.
We had a 5-night stay at Waterfall Cottage and it was fantastic. The inside and outside space worked brilliantly for us, as a group consisting of 3 generations (oldest 72 and youngest 4 years old!)
The cottage had space for us to live and play, whilst remaining cosy too. We all enjoyed the garden, which was especially great for an Easter egg hunt.
The location really worked for us as well, wonderful views, passing horses and cattle to look out for. We did a circular walk appropriately ending up at the pub in the village.
It's also great for accessing local places of interest- we spent a day at the Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, and also completed some junior parkrun tourism in Axminster.
My 8 year old son loved the games room- this is a lovely additional space for relaxing. And both children enjoyed the sunken trampoline and the hammock!
The cottage is well equipped for a family trip- it seems like everything has been thought of. Tracey was welcoming and helpful in all our communications.
I would recommend staying at this cottage and I would happily return to this idyllic spot.
We had a very lovely, simple family break in this very welcoming cottage. Once the teens and young adults had got used to the etiquette of a “jack and Jill” bathroom we all settled into this very relaxed but functional space with ease. The kitchen was very well furnished for self catering evenings. Local pub and community run shop/ post office within a short walk (7 mins max). Even with it lashing down with November rain outside, the well stocked wood burners glowed and staved off any chill. Lots of great places to visit nearby too.
We had the most magical week at Waterfall Cottage. My husband and I and our two little girls were there for October half term and it was so much more special than we could have imagined. Arriving at the house it feels like something from a book - just a walk away from the village but felt like we were in our own little world. We had a very friendly pig in the field behind the house and some gorgeous cows and calves at the end of the garden.
The house itself had everything you could need, plus two wood burners which we made the most of even though the house was lovely and warm. Well equipped kitchen and lots of super kids books, games and puzzles. The layout of the house (twin bedroom accessed through the master and the upstairs bathroom between the two doubles) was clear in the description and worked for us, prob best for families or those v familiar with each other.
It’s such a good base to explore the area and loads to do - we really enjoyed the beaches at Branscombe, Seaton, Charmouth (where we all had a dip in the sea!), Beer and Lyme Regis, we did the tram ride from Seaton which was great fun, the Axe Valley wildlife park just down the road (the zebras, flamingoes and ostriches were particular highlights!), Millers Farm shop, River Cottage (we didn’t eat there but the menu looked good!), and some of the surrounding villages/towns.
Tracey was a fab host, gave us all the info we needed, was quick to respond and super helpful.
