Best vacation house ever!
We had 2 families with pre-teen and teen-aged children and this house was perfect for us! We couldn't think of anything that was missing. Boat for snorkeling on the reefs close to the house and adventures further out. Paddle boarding and kayaking, walks to the sandbar for tons of starfish, soaking in the hot tub, and the views in the sky at night from our private beach are too amazing for words. More than enough kitchen gadgets and dishes for our dual family dinners we made every night. Can't say enough great things about the house and the hospitality!
Our stay at Calypso was absolutely amazing! The views & the beach and the water are breathtaking! Most beautiful sunsets ever witnessed! The hot tub, the boat and all the paddle boards are added bonuses. This house is very equipped and has everything you need. Including coolers and a separate ice maker. You will not regret renting from Kathy! She was absolutely amazing and gives you lots of information. We will be back as soon as possible! Oh….and the little neighborhood dogs are Sugar and Spice! We loved every minute with them! Memories we will never forget!

Perfect
We were looking for a getaway vacation with our family of 11 - ages 79 to 6. Calypso was perfect. Not a single issue or problem with the cottage or all the toys it comes with. Lots of chairs in the cottage and plenty of beach chairs. Cottage and all it’s amenities are well maintained.

Beautiful location. Lots to do. Ocean is shallow during low tide so that even young kids can play
Kathy is infinitely helpful and kind. The property is well equipped, clean and big. 10 of us stayed here, cooked our own meals, played games and relaxed.
The house is 47 steps from the ocean at low tide.
There are paddle boards, kayaks, beach chairs and an awesome little motor boat to use.

Fun Private Beach House
I thought our house was awesome! I really enjoyed all the options they had available for water sports!!! I also was impressed with the sound proofing from the deck to the bed rooms for you and mom!! Our room was also great having our own bathroom and porch! I would totally go to that house again! And let's not forget to add how helpful and sweet the people were that we rented from! They were a life saver when our van stopped working! Truly awesome people!!! Our family greatly enjoyed our stay at Calypso which was a Fun Private Beach House at Casuarina Point, near Marsh Harbour Bahamas. It was like having our own private resort. We had a beautiful beach right out the back door of our beach house with the use of a motor boat, kayaks, surf boards, paddle boards, and other beach items. 100 yards out was some wonderful snorkeling reefs and many areas to fish. A Hot Tub and hammocks are all available to use. At night the sheer numbers of visible stars in the sky made it difficult to pick out the normal visible consolations. We had 2 couples and one single and plenty of room for all. The property was clean and kept well for a beach house. The owners were fantastic! We were lucky enough to have been there the same time Kathy and Gary were staying a few houses down the beach and they were very warm and welcoming to our family and very helpful during our stay. We with great enthusiasm recommend this property to family, friends or anyone looking to get away for a while. You can either cook, have someone cook for you or visit restaurants North in Marsh Harbour or South at the Sandpiper. Also plan a day trip to Hope Town and visit the lighthouse there. It's a quick ferry ride from Marsh Harbour. We did so much and had such a good time that I could go on and on. 5 Stars from the Blacklidge Family!

Dream Vacation!
Our family of 8 stayed at Calypso for about a week in July 2017. It was the perfect, most relaxing vacation. The home is well-stocked, and the view can't be beat. The water is steps away from the house, and it is perfect for young kids since it is so calm. We used the skiff multiple times/day to explore the surrounding area. Between the paddle boards, skiff, kayaks, snorkeling gear, there is plenty to do. A rental vehicle is definitely recommended to get to/from town. We took a ferry from Marsh Harbor to Guana Cay one day, but honestly would probably not do it again since we enjoyed being at Calypso so much. Kathy was a dream to work with. She is so responsive and truly thinks of every detail when renting her home. We are already planning a return trip and won't even consider staying anywhere else!

Great house, great owners, perfect location!
I recently stayed for a third time at Calypso house with Kathy and Abaco Palms. Our stay was incredible as usual. What was supposed to be a two week stay was interrupted by hurricane Matthew. My group had to leave to avoid the storm but Kathy was great about rescheduling us and having us come back at a convenient time to finish the second half of our stay. Kathy is great about communicating and answering any questions that come up about the trip. She is also very accomodating and helpful. For instance, last minute we asked to use a second boat for the week and Kathy accommodated us . The location of all Abaco Palms houses are incredible and work great for a group of guys who want to expolore the water or for a family with little kids who need to put kids down for naps then sit on the beach with the baby monitor and a drink.

Amazing spot - well maintained and easy to work with the management team. Many resources provided to prepare for the trip and so well organized. Home is situated on great stretch of beach, lots of toys and views are incredible. A great value and just an amazing spot to park it and relax, play, fish, recreate, and enjoy one of the finest spots in Abaco. Awesome trip and experience.

A perfect stay in a great location!
Just returned from a week at Calypso to celebrate my father-in-law's 70th birthday. We had 11 people in the house (6 adults/5 kids) and it was a perfect spot for our get together. We had additional family members rent Kokomo which is right next door. The house is great and we made quick use of the skiffs, kayaks and paddle boards. We used Kathy's info on how to find the 4 reefs close by and spent a lot of time snorkeling and spearing fish. We also walked to the sandbar east of the house at low tide which was a great place to swim. Being July, it was hot but the house has great air conditioning in each of the rooms. The wrap around porch was a great place to sit in the morning and evenings and we explored the neighborhood and fished in the canal multiple times.
We used Debbie Burrows (contact info listed on Abaco Palms website) to make us meals (14 people) two nights we were there. She is an absolute delight and very reasonable in terms of cost. She delivered the food right to the house and everything was absolutely incredible. She made all of the Bahamian staples and the key lime pie was a favorite.
Kathy's website is a great source of information. We arrived on a Sunday and were able to navigate to the open grocery store and liquor store based on the info she has on the website. In addition, we found the bakery, fish market and ferry to Hopetown by using her detailed directions/instructions.
All in all, it was a great stay and Kathy was quick to respond to any and all inquiries. We hope to be back again soon for another visit!

Great Experience!
This was our first time renting in the Bahamas and we really enjoyed our trip. The house was great and well furnished with everything we needed. The location was fabulous, especially for people traveling with little kids. Kathy was quick to respond with answers to our questions both before and during our trip. The whole reservation process was well organized. It was nice that we had the keys beforehand along with Kathy's helpful packet of information. She thinks of everything and made great suggestions for rental cars and boat trips! We were sad that we did not get to meet Kathy during our trip since she was away but we were left in good hands with her caretaker, Judie, who was just down the street. We would highly recommend renting from Kathy.

PARADISE!!
Honestly, I am not sure I want to write this review as I don't want people to find out how perfect Calypso is....but Kathy was too perfect to work with not to. Casuarina Point is literally where the covers of magazines are shot, it is more beautiful than words can describe and the house is everything you could want, from a hot tub under the stars to more paddle boards and kayaks than you know what to do with!! The furnishings are nice but not too nice that you don't feel like you can relax. We used Kathy's recommendations on her website for dinner and had fresh fish delivered one night by David Rees and it was literally caught that day and delivered to our door step!! Two nights we had Debbie cook at our house it was so much cheaper than buying food and way cheaper than going out and the food was AMAZING and she was so fun!!
I cannot say enough about this vacation, there is no question we will be coming back and staying at one of Kathy's houses!! We also had the house keeper stock the house with groceries before we arrived and it was the best decision as we were starving when we got there and all we had to do was open the fridge, she did a great job shopping and it was very reasonable.

Just returned from Calypso. We are a family of 4, with two boys ages 10/12. They were awestruck from the moment we arrived. We utilized the included boat the most during our stay snorkeling on the reefs, fishing with rod/reels rented from Island Boy tackle in Marsh Harbor, and spear fishing with the included Hawaian Slings. We ate fresh fish all but one of the nights we stayed. We had a great stay and would highly recommend!

We live on the beach in Michigan and this gave us a much needed winter blues kick!!
We stayed a week at the Calypso with our daughter, son-in-law and 3 grandkids, (ages 12,14,16). The house, in our opinion is the prettiest, especially the view from the water. The new stairway on the deck adds so much charm, not to mention functionality. It had everything we needed, including WiFi for the kids! The walks in the water at low tide were a favorite as we collected many sand dollars and other shells. We saw sea turtles and manta rays and nothing threatening like jelly fish, or worse. The skiffs came in handy to visit the islands and explore. The renters at Camp David let us use theirs so the seven of us could go out together.
The beach is pretty much private, which I loved. The house had everything we needed. I brought some favorite spices, but I shouldn't have bothered. We had to buy fish from the Albury's (about 10 houses away) since it was too windy for our fishing charter. Local food was yummy, especially at Pete's Pub and Snappas. You do have to plan your rides to town for groceries since it is about 15 miles to buy milk.
Kathy Heacock is very thoughtful, helpful and accommodating. You will not go wrong renting from
Abaco Palms Properties.

We did not want to leave Calypso!
My girlfriends and I just got back from our trip to Casuarina Point and can't stop talking about what an amazing time we had! There were nine women who came from multiple cities across the States and we all fell in love with The Abacos.
We arrived to Marsh Harbour within a few hours of each other so had decided that we would all meet at Curly Tails in town before going to the grocery/liquor stores. The small town - with literally one traffic light- has multiple restaurants all right on the water with breath taking views, friendly locals and delicious food. We ate food at Curly Tails, Snappas, Jamie's Place and Pete's Pub. I would recommend them all, however, Snappas was a little pricey. Like a lot of the reviews say - Pete's Pub is a MUST visit. It really isn't that far from where we stayed and almost every one we talked to on our trip asked us if we had been there yet... I guess everyone knows that's the place to be!
Now for the house, Calypso. As soon as we walked into the front door we were blown away. From the open floor plan which was perfect for accommodating our large group, the massive deck and stairs that led you to the white sand and crystal clear water, the cleanliness, and the views. Between Kathy's website, welcome packet, and guest binder that is at the house you have all the information you need to make the most of your stay. She really does go above and beyond in making things easy for you. The best part of this house is that it is in such a desolate area that you literally have the beach to yourself. We saw maybe a handful of other people throughout our stay walking the beach or fishing. We took advantage of the 'toys' the house comes with and enjoyed the water by using the paddle boards, kayaks and Carolina Skiff.
We had Celisha come to the house for massages. Not only was she great, but she set up right on the deck. We highly recommend her!!
Another day we rented a catamaran from Cruise Abaco with Captain Aaron and his mate, Shorty. We were out on the water from 9:30-4:30 sailing around the different islands. We told them what we wanted our day to look like, they gave us some suggestions and off we went! They anchored the boat for us so we could jump off and went on the dingy to capture great shots with our cameras from the water! They ended up taking us to Tahiti Beach for us to explore and then we stopped for lunch at Cracker P's. This will be a day to remember!
I have already started plans of returning to Calypso.

Wonderful Family Spot!
My sister and I stayed at the Calypso house with our spouses and children (total 10) and we had an amazing vacation! The set up of the house was great, all the bedrooms were on the back of the house or upstairs, with the main living area in the front of the house. There was plenty of seating for all of us, and a deck we could all enjoy together too! The beach was perfect for families as the water is shallow at low tide, the kids just loved walking out looking for sea life. The rental house had all the kayaks and paddleboards we needed, and there was even a river just a short walk away where we could go for a long kayak ride. I would highly recommend this spot!

Casaurina Fishin Report
As so many have said before me, this is a wonderful place to vacation. Gary and Kathy are remarkable host/ess and so generous with their time and spirit for life on Abaco. A special thanks to Gary for introducing me to some local fishing enthusiasts. Casaurina has some good bonefishing locations. A school of smaller Bones and Snapper is often found a few doors east of Calypso in front of the pink house. Further east and around the point, are areas mixed with sand, marl and grass. More and larger bones call this home. Watch for tails on a low tide. You will get one good shot so make it count as these are smart fish! The south and east sides of Duck Cay offer some interesting locations with schools of still larger bones (up to 7lbs) as well as Mutton Snapper and Trigger Fish. There are two smaller islets east of Duck worth exploring. I was told the creek to the west of the house can produce. I recommend unweighted flies with weed guards for working tailing fish over grass at low tide. Veverka shrimp worked well over sand and marl. When not fishing, Pete's Pub is a must. For finer dining, The Sandpiper at Schooner Bay is excellent and the proprietor (James) is a fishin' buff too. Went on guided excursions with Ricardo (out of Sandy Point) and Paul Pinder (out of Abaco Lodge) and both provided lots of action. Met JR, the local guide at Casaurina, on my last day so unfortunately had no opportunity to go with him (but will next year).
Tight lines!

Great House...... Great Owners.........Perfect Island Beach Vacation
The calypso house at Abaco Palms was amazing. Owners Kathy and Gary were on the island and helped us out whenever we needed it. The location of the house on the beach was perfect for the toddlers in our group with perfect white sand and shallow water. The boat was great for running around and fishing and diving the area. We ate fresh caught fish, conch, and lobster every day. With the chilly weather we had at times during the trip we used the hot tub on a regular basis. Nothing like listening to the waves while soaking in the hot tub with a drink in hand after an outing of diving from the boat or kayaking. We even had a fire on the beach one night under a sky full of endless stars. I highly recommend both the house and the owners for a perfect vacation. We will definately be back.

About the host
Hosted by Kathy Heacock
My husband and I first visited Abaco and Casuarina Point in 1996. We were hooked! We vacationed there with our 3 sons and decided to purchase property and build our dream, beach home - Abaco Palms, in 2005. We built Kokomo in 2009 and built Camp David, a 3 bedroom 3 and 1/2 bath, in 2013. We also added Calypso to our rentals in 2013. It is a 4 bedroom 2+ bath, charming beach house, but we did not originally build Calypso. It was built in 2004. We purchased it in December 2012, and we remodeled it before adding it to our Casuarina rentals. Our now grown sons still LOVE to spend family time in Abaco at Casuarina Point. To us it is heaven on earth!
Why they chose this property
Casuarina Point is a unique location. We enjoy the beautiful, crystal clear shallow water in front of the house, and we are protected by the reef out front that is so fun for snorkeling and fishing. There are many uninhabited islands to explore - private beaches for swimming and picnics - blue holes to explore - bone fish to catch - nature to discover - the list can go on and on! It is a great location for kayaking - Our Abaco Palms Properties have 13 kayaks - 4 tandem, 7 adult, and 2 child size that work for up to 130 pounds. There are a few at each of our 4 houses, and you can borrow from the other houses if you need a different combination. We also have paddle boards - 7 stand up and 3 knee boards so far. Calypso come with a 16' Carolina Skiff - moored in front of the house and it is perfect for exploring the area. This is not possible at most ocean front beach houses - the reef's protection makes it possible. Our white sand beach stretches for miles - a perfect walking, exploring beach. Try it - you will be hooked, too!
What makes this property unique
All of our rentals include use of 16' Carolina Skiff. (We have 4 houses and 5 boats - so we have a backup if there is ever a problem.) There is a boat moored in front of each house for your use to go fishing, snorkeling, or exploring the many small islands in the area. There is a Vita SPA hot tub on each deck, and 13 kayaks, 6 paddle boards, and 3 knee paddle boards for our guests use for exercise and exploring. The houses and decks have spectacular views -and you walk right out on the beautiful, white sand beach with crystal clear water. It is a setting that can't be beat!
