Daphne Terrace Penthouse Suite

Set within a Baroque 17 th century building in the charming Monti district, our Colosseum Terrace Daphne is rich in history and will transport you to another era.

And set just a 10-minute stroll from the Colosseum, it’s close to major sites while still serving as a relaxing home where you can unwind after a busy day of sightseeing.



Pope VI spent time on the property and the outdoor courtyard served as a workshop for the Vatican Museum to restore its priceless marble statues in the 1800s.



Now owned by an esteemed scientist with a passion for the arts, the Daphne Terrace is full of fascinating objects including ancient maps, rare prints, astronomical equipment and shelves upon shelves of books.

The wooden beams ceilings are painted by hand featuring ornamental vegetal motifs and were recently restored to help maintain the historic details of the home.



You’ll find 17 th century paintings on the walls, a grand piano in the living room and balconies that let the Roman sunshine flood into the apartment.



With 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (one with a shower, one with a hot tub) and a sofa-bed in the living room, the property can comfortably sleep up to 5 people.



You’ll also have access to a beautiful garden terrace that looks out onto the rooftops of Rome: dine al fresco as the sun sets or enjoy your morning breakfast surrounded by fragrant orange trees in the morning.

A fantastic experience, like staying in a (comfy) museum. The terrace garden was beautiful and had amazing views. The location is easy walking distance to many of the major tourist sites, and the apartment was adjacent to many restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, etc. I only wish we could have stayed longer and met the professor!

This is a real gem in the middle of Rome

This is a real gem in the middle of Rome. The location is off a quiet street, but very close to groceries as well as restaurants. It was very safe and felt like we were staying in history. The rooftop was unbelievable with views of the coliseum surrounded by flowers. Would definitely stay here again!

Unbeatable Location/ Lovely Owners/ Beautiful Apartment

Spent Thanksgiving week with family at this fabulous apartment. Hosted a magical luncheon for 8 on the rooftop terrace. Meeting and speaking with the professor was definitely a highlight - what a lovely man! Highly recommend this property.

Amazing place!

This is a place you don’t want to miss. Great location and many amenities that can’t be matched. It has full A/C in the unit, which is important if you visit in the middle of the summer, it has an amazing balcony to enjoy, the beds are the most comfortable of any personal residence rentals we’ve stayed in, and it has unmatchable charm. It’s like staying in a museum, but with a modern kitchen. I can’t recommend it enough!

Wonderful location

What a great property. The location, near to the Colosseum and a short walk to the other sights was a excellent. This was a perfect property for my family of five, including two teenagers. The check in process and communication were spectacular and Karina did a great job of preparing the apartment, making dinner reservations and securing returns to the airport. Truly 5 star service from the ownership team. We hope to return to this wonderful property.

Living like the Romans

We truly enjoyed our stay in this unique, beautiful and historic apartment. The decor, artifacts, books, art and furniture was remarkable. And we loved spending time on the terrace and rooftop, with it's incredible views, plants and fruit trees. The apartment was spacious, comfortable, clean with a well equipped and stocked kitchen. It is also located in an ideal location and the supercute Monti area...a short walk from all of the sites in the Ancient City. Karina, our welcome hostess was amazing! We are so grateful for her help checking in and assistance providing wonderful recommendations to local restaurants and sites. We highly recommend this gorgeous home and look forward to staying here again!

Beginning with check in, Karina was very responsive

Beginning with check in, Karina was very responsive. We were getting in around 7pm and she still met us to help us get in and show us the apartment. We spent 4 days and the air conditioning was the best we’d had on this trip. The beds and bedding were also super comfortable. The location was amazing and close to many great restaurants and the Colosseum. We literally walked everywhere, except to the Vatican. We Are a family of four and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our time. We loved the apartment and it was especially fun looking at all of the books and mementos. It was like being in a museum except super comfortable and inviting.

Do not hesitate for one second to book this most beautiful of apartments! It may seem expensive compared to what else might be on offer in Rome, but it is worth every penny. Thank you to Karina for such a warm & wonderful welcome and looking after us. The whole place is so beautiful, it feels like a home, with so many of il professsore's personal pieces on the walls and book shelves. What an extraordinary life he has had so far, it felt like such a privilege to experience it. The beds are very comfortable, with hotel level linen. It has everything you could need, the location is perfect. Monti is within walking distance of everything but it feels quieter, more like a neighbourhood, with lots of great restaurants a stone's throw from the front door. The roof terrace is GLORIOUS, with incredible views & all of the professor's beautiful plants and trees. We had our morning coffee up there every day & a drink before going out in the evening. We'll be back! A presto Roma!

A true Rome experience

This was an unforgettable trip to Rome with my sister & brother-in-law. We absolutely loved our stay in DaphneTerrace. The location is fantastic. You have a grocery store right around the corner as well as many, many shops, restaurants and bars. We had an easy walk to many historical sites. The art, the books, the furnishings, the balcony and rooftop were all phenomenal. We felt like we were staying at a friends home rather then a rental. The apartment had everything we needed and more. Karina was such a wonderful help and excellent host. It was such a pleasure to meet the famous Giovanni de Maria who lives in the building. He is so kind. We adore him! This experience gave us something we could have never gotten from a hotel. A true Rome experience. We look forward to staying in Daphne Terrace again and again. We miss the food, the history and the beautiful apartment already. Grazie!!!

This apartment is a gem

This was an absolutely gorgeous apartment furnished like a museum. We enjoyed the lovely rooftop terrace and each beautifully decorated room. The library is filled with fascinating books and old encyclopedias. This was an extremely special place that we will always remember.

A perfect week in Rome

A fabulous location in the heart of Rome. All the major attractions are less than 2 miles distance with most being less than 1 mile. The apartment is ‘old world’. Wood ceilings, heated floors, a cozy Juliet balcony just perfect for a couple to have a glass of wine. The restaurants in the immediate area are excellent. We did not need to contact the host during our stay. Enough said…

This is a very unique apartment. Check in was easy and the location is in a lovely neighborhood- off the tourist path and on a quiet street. It is located on the 5th floor (6th floor by American standards) and there is a small elevator which was big enough for our large umbrella stroller plus one person. We also used their crib and high chair for our 18 month old and were able to baby-proof relatively well to accommodate her.

This apartment is fantastic. Located in the heart of the historic district just steps from the forum and Colosseum. The unit is exactly as described, comfortable and cozy. Carlo and Henrietta are great hosts with both professionalism and a friendly approach. I highly recommend this unit and these hosts and I encourage any travelers to consider booking the in-home meal prepared by chef Michele. He was fantastic and the experience was once-in-a-lifetime. The meal was expertly prepared and served with perfect wine pairings on the apartment’s rooftop terrace. Perfect.

All in all a wonderful stay

It made you feel like as though you were living like a Roman and not a tourist

The apartment is better than described. Refined, authentic and comfortable. We enjoyed coming home each day and relaxing. It made you feel like as though you were living like a Roman and not a tourist. The communication and advice provided was super helpful and much appreciated.
