Lovely apartment in a lovely area, very clean quiet well equipped apartment.
Lovely area to explore, can leave your car and walk to explore the area.
Would stay again
Lovely stay, property in an ideal location for coastal walks within walking distance. Local shop and village pub also within walking distance. Overall a lovely stay and added bonus of a Seaview everday. Would recommend.
The flat was spacious and well equipped. Pauline was a fab host and so informative and friendly. Thurlestone is beautiful as is the coastline and beaches. We loved it and would definitely book again.
We had a great time at the apartment which is on top of the hill with a great view. Great for walks around, and good access to the roads going outwards. The apartment was perfect for us! The best thing about it was the contact with the host Pauline, very friendly and attentive.
Ideal base for walking. Good local shop and pub meant we could leave the car behind.
Accommodation clean, comfortable and well equipped.
Communication before our break was excellent.
It was our first holiday with our baby boy at 6 months old and it was perfect. Parking outside, walking distance to the beach and pub with a little shop. Perfect.
The host was lovely and extremely helpful. Communication excellent with detailed directions to the house.
Could not have wished for a better half term. Maybe just a but more sunshine, but with Plymouth being in driving distance there were enough activities to keep us busy on the rainy days.
Thank you for a wonderful stay. Really clean and well equipped and a lovely warm, homely feel. Particularly enjoyed sitting in the sun and eating outside - although at the front of the house, the garden space is very quiet and you can see the sea :)
Lovely, homely property with every thing you need. In a beautiful location with many coastal walks. Thurlestone is a quaint little village with a great little pub, the village inn. We had a fantastic meal and the staff are super friendly. Pauline is a great host, very informative and is very quick to respond to any query. I would thoroughly recommend.
We had a very comfortable stay at Sou West which was handy given the terrible weather Storm Henk inflicted on us! The apartment is well located with the local pub, shop and beaches all in walkable distance. Everything was clean and in good condition and views to the beach were a bonus. We would happily stay again and recommend for a stay in South Hams being close to Salcombe, Dartmouth, Kingsbridge etc. Thankyou Pauline for a lovely stay.
A very comfortable appartment with everything you need. Modern sea themed decor, comfy bed and lounge. Well equiped kitchen. Plua a sea view & lovely garden. Just to mention there are very narrow single track lanes to access pretty Thurlestone but you get used to them. Enjoyed great coastal walks!
This property is in easy walking distance of the Coastal Path. The village is very nice.
We enjoyed our stay, it had everything we needed, very clean, furniture comfortable, wifi good. Good views of countryside and partial view of coast line and sea. Very quiet at night. Local pub does good food and local ales even though Covid has limited its options, good idea to book. Good easy coastal walk to Hope Cove via South Milton Sands with it's snack shack. I would advise taking a torch as there are no street lights (a plus) in the village for when walking back from the pub at night.

Thankyou Barry for taking the time to send a review. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay in Thurlestone. It's a peaceful , quaint olde world village without street lights so your recommendation of a torch is a good one.
The apartment is spacious for 2 beds, kitchen very well equipped. Was nice to have plastic plates and cups for kids. Whilst the garden is at the front and only patio and gravel it got lots of sun and the kids loved filling a digger up with the stones!!
We did have an issue whilst we we there and Pauline pro actively resolved this for us
The apartment is great and felt airy and bright, loved the seaside theme. Unfortunately our peace was spoilt by an ? Extractor fan going constantly for 72 hours and more from the school opposite. The views are great, lovely to see the sea every day. Lovely walks from the village in both directions on the coast and good pubs with good food nearby.
Nice airy rooms which have been recently decorated but let down by small things not working properly, poor lighting in kitchen, and a shower that was only just adequate, in our opinion.
This was our second stay, although 5 years apart and the flat had everything we needed to make it another perfect break.
We were there for 5 nights in mid May 2023.
Pauline was most helpful & sorted out all our needs, with speed & kindness. Would come back again and it was just what was needed, to escape real life for a bit & just have some down time.
The village pub which is a 10 minute walk was fab & the food lovely - probably need to book a table in the summer.
The weather was glorious & we loved the coastal walking - did two new ones but Bolt Head was stunning and probably the best we’d done.
Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the South Ham

When a place is that good you want to buy it from the owner
I'll give a brief background. I started as a mortgage broker back in June 2022 and started at the worst possible time with the economy, working 70 hour weeks and then days off, I needed a break. My Father used to work in Thurlestone and reminisced a lot about it in recent years so I agreed in December last year him and I go down for a few days so he could take a trip down memory lane and for myself to relax from work.
From the moment of booking online the owner emailed me to introduce herself and gave me guidance to navigation the property and wished a happy trip. Now the property - when I say it was home from home I mean it, it was clinically clean yet very homely. There was a coffee machine and a bottle of wine on the dining table (nice touch) and after a few hours it felt like it was a second home - for me having travelled a lot of places across the world very few places can make you feel this way. I cannot thank the host enough. Going to Thurlestone, Devon in December wasn't probably the best time as it felt the village was deserted, the weather was cold and the local pub was dead however the highlight of the trip was the accommodation - how many holidays/ breaks can you say that about? Thank you to the host and will be making a few returns next year.
We found Thurlestone to be a lovely little village with spectacular views nearby and several interesting places to visit in an afternoon's foray. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows do need to be replaced; they were simply terrible. The kitchen was nicely equipped. In the bathroom, having two long towel racks would have allowed our towels to dry a bit; they stayed somewhat damp throughout, despite my hanging them up as best I could. They did not even dry on the clothesline out back.
There is a problem with mold--not the kind one can see, growing on surfaces, but the kind that is evidently underlying the walls--in the back bedroom and the cupboards. I know this is difficult to handle in an old seaside home, but I have a significant mold allergy and could not even store my clothes in the drawers and wardrobe provided because of the suffocating feeling in my chest when I breathed in the air in those areas. This is such a pleasant place to stay that I hate to think the experience is marred by such a problem.
The Village Inn down the hill proved to be a good spot for dinner. In fact, we ate there three of our seven nights! A visit to Burgh Island with a ride on their sea tractor offered great views and a unique means of travel. We drove to Plymouth for an afternoon and found its history and its harbor sights well worth the trip.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay and will recommend Thurlestone to others; it is a quiet and peaceful escape.
Wohnung ist in Ordnung für den Preis.
Allerdings ist sie eher alt und die Kästen und Küchenkasten haben einen unangenehmen Geruch, sowie der Teppich in einem Schlafzimmer.

About the host
Hosted by Mrs P Madge
We have owned the apartment for over 20 years and enjoyed many a glorious family holiday in the area. In this time, we have also made a number of updates and improvements to the apartment to make it as comfortable as possible. Due to family commitments, we don’t use the apartment enough so would like to offer and share this wonderful experience with you.
Why they chose this property
We have lots of family ties to the area and the village. My husband’s family is originally from the area and he was brought up in the village of Thurlestone. My daughter also married in the village and we still have relatives in the area. We bought the apartment to allow our children to experience the amazing area and for our family holidays, of which we have had many, and continue to try visit as much as possible.
What makes this property unique
What sold the apartment to us was the view in the front living room, looking out to the historic Thurlestone Rock. The apartment itself has a warm homely feeling, complemented by a bright feeling of space & light. The outside area is perfect for relaxing and taking in the fresh sea air and being South/South West facing catches the sunshine all day long.
