About this property
Cottage Next to the Creek in Historic Cascade Canyon At The Foot Of Pikes Peak
This fully restored Victorian cottage with outdoor hot tub is situated on the banks of Cascade Creek in the small mountainous neighborhood of Cascade which is part of the Pikes Peak watershed. Great views of the creek from windows in the sitting area and
views of the mountain ridges from the wrap around porch and the sleeping loft.
The cottage is at the rear of a larger property with a main house and carriage house and is surrounded by old growth forest. The grounds: large trees, flower gardens, and a private creek side mini meadow are yours to enjoy. The cottage has a wrap around porch with chairs and a porch swing to gaze at the gardens and an outside patio next to the creek with table, chairs, and charcoal grill.
The renovated cottage is really a "tiny house"( 500 sq ')with all space efficiently dedicated. There is a small sitting area, a dining area, compact kitchen (fully equipped with microwave, stove, dishwasher, fridge, and washer/dryer), small bathroom with shower, and a light-filled sleeping loft with large windows of the mountains, forest, and night sky. The babbling creek serves as a sleeping tonic.
Several trails are outside the front door-one of which, if taken to its limit, takes you to the summit of Pikes Peak. Wildlife, since Cascade is in the foothills, is common—bears, foxes, raccoons, bobcats, and deer.

Why they chose this property
I purchased this property because of its historical significance. I like older homes and the 'big house" (behind which is the cottage) was the first home built in Cascade . Cascade itself was a resort community in the late 1800's, populated mostly by people from Kansas who bought second homes to escape the summer heat and is now populated by those of us who like the rural feel yet easy access to the city. Those of us who live here feel this is a special place.
What makes this property unique
Quiet, cool, peaceful, rural setting by the creek with old growth trees, beautiful gardens, and access to the trails.
