Secluded, peaceful large Shepherd hut on 14 acre smallholding.
The handcrafted shepherd's hut sits in its own garden area, separated from the rest of the orchard field (and the wanderings of any friendly farm animals) by a little picket fence, with a smashing barbecue area and a picnic bench for alfresco feasts. The hut is also fully insulated and has a kitchenette with a gas burner and a sink, a table and chairs for two to dine comfortably on, as well as a cosy double bed with fresh linens provided, the hut's little log burner generates enough heat to keep the hut nice and toasty throughout the winter months and can be used on cooler summer nights too, if needed, so you're guaranteed a swell stay no matter the season Benton View shepherd's hut has views across the lovely countryside to the sea, Hartland Point and Lundy island.
There is no electric in the hut, but it does have solar lighting and phone charging points. Fresh filtered water from the site's own well is available in the kitchen area, with a caddy supplied to take back to the hut.
Outside you'll find a barbecue area with seating for alfresco dining, and a bird table to keep the wildlife entertained. Parking is just outside the field not far from the hut, and just a short walk away is the kitchen area and facilities.
Sleeping two comfortably, guests are welcome to pitch a tent alongside to create extra space for children or friends. The site is booked exclusively, so there won't be any campers not connected to your booking.
It's the perfect holiday for anyone looking to get out into the peaceful countryside, with hands on experience on a farm or just to take time out and relax and recharge their batteries.
Sorry, no dogs.

A great little shepherds hut in a fantastic location to explore Exmoor national park! It was very secluded and peaceful (and dark enough that at night you could see the milky way) and it was a lot of fun being surrounded by all the farm animals
Mandy is super lovely , let us check in early to her beautiful shepherds hut and no pressure to depart on time the next day . Beautiful place , Mandy went above and beyond . Would def recommend
Gorgeous sheperds hut with fenced off garden.the only rented property on small holding so perfect for social distancing, unless lambs and chickens count!truly amazing hosts .cleanliness very high standard.very relaxing watching the sunset over the north devon hills.will definitely be booking it again
Beautiful Exmoor country location, with gentle farm animals right next door, great dining nearby and the friendly hosts Mandy and Andy. A memorable and different experience indeed.
Absolutely brilliant cabin in a perfect location to get to all the main areas to visit. The hosts could not have been more welcoming and always said hello when they saw us. Barnstaple is very close by making getting essentials very easy to do. Overall a brilliant place to stay when visiting Devon and would happily come back.

What a lovely friendly couple left the hut clean and tidy would definitely host again no trouble at all
We had the most wonderful trip! We were a bit late upon arrival however we were greeted with such kind and friendly hospitality.
We were given a tour of the amazing farm and got to meet all the animals!
The guy itself is best of its kind of seen. We’ve been to a few other and this one was the best in terms of facilities, coziness, price and also privacy! Decorations were very cute the fireplace was such a nice feature to have!
We hope to comeback some time in the future and we highly recommend visiting ! Far better than staying in a hotel or inn!
From the minute Mandy greeted us to the minute we left was amazing. Very friendly from the start and nothing was too much trouble. Great facilities and a lovely little shepherds hut. Mandy goes out of her way to make the stay as best as possible with little touches here and there and introducing you to the animals. Would highly recommend staying here
Amanda and Andy were the most welcoming people we’ve ever met. They made us feel at home straight away. The shepherds hut was beautiful and the log burner was lovely and cosy. Definitely recommend staying here.
Was an amazing stay! Amazing views Andy and Mandy were amazing hosts! Could sit and chat for hours!

About the host
Hosted by Mandy Kellaway
Me and my partner Andrew Hemming love the farming life. I was born in Devon and have grown up and always lived on a farm so guess its in my blood. Andy moved down from where he was born in oxford many years ago. We both love the smallholding we have purchased and like to think we are quite self sufficient in what we do we love our veg patch and love growing our own food. Our animals play a huge roll in our lives as most of them have names and are also part of the family. We are self employed and run a successful home and garden company called M and A Services so busy out working by day and doing the farm when we get home. We live on site so are there if and when you need anything.
Why they chose this property
The property is peaceful, cosy, warm, romantic, inviting and hopefully has all the amenities you need for this type of holiday. The location is remote, spectacular scenery, wildlife haven and a little bit further afield you will find a walkers paradise, also alongside the Tarka trail cycling route and on the outskirts of Exmoor national Park. There are lots of attractions near by Exmoor Zoo, Combe Martin wildlife and Dinosaur Park a short drive away towards the coast, while Woolacombe, Croyde, and Saunton are all within twenty miles for a day at the sea. Wistlandpound Reservoir, six miles away, is a popular spot for family days filled with nature trails, bird watching and wildlife spotting.
