This pretty cottage offers an idyllic retreat for a couple and their canine plus-one. Located in a lush Exmoor valley with walks from the doorstep, it’s part of a stylish barn conversion close to the beautiful cove at Heddon’s Mouth.
One of three properties in this lovely wooded valley location, this mid-terrace cottage combines original features with all the contemporary must-haves for a memorable break in the North Devon countryside. Together-time is the focus here, with a good-sized open-plan living space providing somewhere to unwind, cook and dine in home-from-home comfort. Snuggle on the sofa with your favourite movie on the TV, or pair-up the Bluetooth speaker for music while you perform culinary magic in the kitchen area – if you bring a pet, he’ll be able to keep a close eye on all that’s happening! Steep open-tread stairs lead to the first floor where the peaceful double bedroom has a vaulted ceiling with feature beams and lovely country views; the adjacent bathroom has the same structural features. Your living space extends to a private front garden area, and there’s access to additional shared gardens with grassy areas. An external utility room is shared with the two other holiday properties here, which can be booked separately for a bigger-group getaway.
The hamlet of Trentishoe is a great base for an active break – the cottage is less than a mile from the National Trust-owned Hunters Inn and you can walk from your doorstep through the Heddon Valley to the cove at Heddon’s Mouth. The South West Coast Path here is spectacular – walk east and you’ll see Woody Bay, Valley of the Rocks, Lynmouth Bay and Foreland Point. In the opposite direction, peaceful Combe Martin is a 5.5-mile drive away, while the sandy surfing beach at Woolacombe is 15 miles. Between the two, Ilfracombe (13 miles) is the gastronomic centre of North Devon, its eateries offering something to suit every taste and budget. Don’t miss the harbourside Damien Hirst statue ‘Verity’ and the quirky Tunnels Beaches when you visit.
