Daniel Boone Lodge- Hot Tub-Pet Friendly-Pool Table-Nearby New River
Daniel Boone Lodge has five bedrooms but also has one additional private sleeping area.
Perched on a mountain ridge above the New River with 5 bedrooms and one additional sleeping area as well as 4-1/2 bathrooms, Daniel Boone Lodge is enjoyable throughout all seasons. During the warmer months, relax on the cool covered decks nestled high in the treetops, listening to the sounds of the New River below while taking advantage of the bench swing or rocking chairs. In colder months enjoy the vista of the neighboring mountains with the river winding back in the distant valley.
The main level has easy access into the entryway screened porch with a large gas grill, and into the spacious living room with timber and oak walls, exposed beam cathedral ceiling, and a huge stone wood-burning fireplace. It's an excellent place to gather to watch the 65” flat screen satellite TV, and blue ray player connected to wifi so you can watch netflix, Hulu, listen to Pandora, check social media, and many other choices. High speed wireless internet is available throughout the home as well as unlimited local and long distance telephone.
The fully equipped kitchen with quartz countertops is stocked with everything a chef needs to prepare the simplest meal or a holiday feast. The dining area has seating for six with extra chairs, as well as additional seating at the kitchen table.
Also on the main level, you'll find a large suite with King bed, flat screen satellite TV, and private Jacuzzi bath and shower. This suite also has access to the deck overlooking the river.
There is another covered deck on the opposite side of the main level, just past the half bath and laundry area, that is great for going to and from the outdoor 6 person hot tub under the stars.
Upstairs you'll find a loft overlooking the main level living area, plus 3 more bedrooms. The first is a queen suite with flat screen TV and private bathroom with shower. Next is a room with a set of twin bunks and a separate single twin with a private half bath and a shared shower and tub. And third is another queen suite attached to the shared tub and shower with a private half bath and flat screen satellite TV.
The lower level has access to its own covered deck overlooking the river with plenty of seating to relax and listen to the river below. For your convenience, an electric grill is also available, plus a fire table. There you'll enjoy the large recreation room with regulation size pool table, mini-fridge and microwave, a game table for checkers or chest, puzzles and games, a dart board, and a 65” curved screen TV and bluray player, with plenty of seating including a sleeper sofa, and wood burning stove. Another room with a queen size bed is located on the lower level with private access to the lower covered deck and the river. A separate full bath with a walk-in shower is located there as well.
The nearby, New River, is one of the oldest rivers in the world and the only river in North America that flows South to North. Just a short drive from the cabin is the Big Hill Community Park, which is perfect for tubing, rafting, fishing, and more. There are outfitters who host rafting and tubing trips, as well as guided fishing trips on the New River (as well as the other nearby rivers). This is a special treat in the spring, summer and fall!
Whether seeking relaxation from the fast pace of the city, or an exciting mountain adventure, you'll find just what you need here at the Daniel Boone Lodge, located conveniently to all high country attractions.

We had a great time at Daniel Boone Lodge. There was plenty of room for our group of 7 and getting to and from the area attractions was easy. The cabin was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. Check in and out was also very easy.

This was a wonderful house for our two families (including our adult children). Loved the location and the secluded setting. That driveway is no joke though... We had nice weather but had there been snow, there would be no navigating it without 4-wheel drive cars. The management company did caution us on that!

I loved that it was in the woods. The ladies and I felt really comfortable.
The location was perfect however we could not access the trail. It was not for people of our hiking experience. We enjoyed the porch and the hot tub. We loved how close we were to shopping and spent time at Grandfathers Winery. The Jack and Jill shower leaked but we had plenty of other showers to use. The first floor bathroom door knob also fell off but we just reattached it. The bed was squeaky but comfortable. So overall we loved our stay and look forward to coming again.

Hi Anna,
Thank you for the review of your stay. We are happy to hear you found the location of this cabin perfect and you look forward to coming again. We will let maintenance know about the leaking shower and the door knob. Thank you for letting us know. Our staff look forward to working with you again in the near future.
Kindest Regards,
Brooklin
The only thing I can say about this property is three days before our scheduled arrival we were contacted and informed that the hot tub was broken. The agency in charge of maintaining the propertie allowed us to change properties and reimbursed us the difference.

Blue Ridge Management Group is great to work with. Fortunately, they are very responsive as we needed them every day of our stay for little issues (water leak the first day and a breaker switched the 2nd day causing the power in the basement to go out) and they came right out both days. The house is well stocked with towels, blankets, dishes, etc but it needs some TLC (eg heating element in dryer was out, floors need a good cleaning, bolt lock on one of the doors was broken).

Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
If you are thinking about the Daniel Boone Lodge, I suggest you think again!
It appears that the owners of this home do not love it anymore. The floors are filthy dirty. The furniture is falling apart, many chairs are broken or in some stage of disrepair. The pillows and cushions are threadbare and ripped. The grill is so rusty you would never consider cooking on it, in addition to the fact that there is a mouse living in it. The electric grill did not heat up sufficiently to cook anything. There were not enough pots to make a "Holiday meal", there were not two pots to make spaghetti and meatballs. The grandkids were very disappointed that there was no Christmas Tree or any Holiday decorations. We have rented homes the last few Holidays and there was always a tree!
Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals was helpful in fixing the broken dryer. Also, They offered to bring a replacement grill, but we had already made other dinner arrangements.

Comfortable and relaxing. We spent most of our time on the main deck enjoying the trees and fresh air. The hot tub and pool table was fun. It was great to be able to bring our dog on vacation!
Access into the river (not just to steep river bank) from the house would have made it perfect. Instead we had to drive to get into the river.

My family and I enjoyed the time we spend there . Wish I would have made a longer trip cause we did not want to leave. Only thing is you said there was a path to get to the river. It look like there might have been one. Some of my family tried to go down there but it was to hard. Be everything else we loved
Thank you

Thank you! We are so glad that you had a great time! Like the listing says, the path directly to the river is rugged, but we hope you found the easier route down the road to the bridge. We'd love to have you back! - BRMR

It was rustic, but I’ve stayed at nicer cabins for less money
The cabin was nice & accommodated our couples weekend, but there was no fire pit & no easy access to the river. Won’t rent again.

Hi Leslie,
Thanks for your review. We are so sorry to hear that this home was not suitable for your stay and we hope we can find you something that has exactly what you are looking for next time.
Kind regards,

It was perfect for our large group of 11. The porch was wonderful for late night talks and early morning coffee. The cabin could use a deep clean on things such as the blinds but overall it was fine. The driveway was very steep but does accommodate multiple cars so that was good! I would stay here again.

The Daniel Boone lodge is a beautiful home, the kitchen is well appointed, and the rest of the home will leave you with nothing to be desired. There was plenty of room for our large family, with 2 toddlers, to spread out and enjoy the peaceful setting. We truly had a wonderful 4th of July week and look forward to visiting again next year!

Weekend Getaway
We had a wonderful stay at the Daniel Boone Lodge. It was the perfect spot for our crew for a last minute getaway. We fit 3 families of 4 comfortably in the cabin. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies, the cabin was clean and comfortable. The covered porches were perfect for sitting outside, even when it was pouring rain. The fireplace was cozy and there was plenty of games/activities for the kids. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing mountain weekend!

Beautiful Cabin for a weekend away with friends
The cabin was well stocked and very nice inside. The bedrooms and bathrooms made it the perfect space for a group of friends to getaway for the weekend. The hot tub was nice, as was the pool table. The kitchen was well stocked and the entire experience was very nice. The driveway is hard to find and very steep, but we found it! The only other negative was that the floors are not insulated and are very thin, so you can hear everything when you are in the master bedroom or the queen room above it. Overall, a very sweet little cabin with a lovely view of the river. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and listening to the water with our morning coffee. Would definitely come again!

Very cozy and comfortable. Loved the front porch.
We took an older youth group from out church and they loved this property. The only down side was that they could not really get to the river without having to have someone drive them to the access. The path in front of the house is really steep. The bathrooms and kitchen were very clean and tidy. We really enjoyed our stay. Blue Ridge Rentals were great to work with also.

Cute Cabin, but there are problems
The first night we were here, someone was showering in the bathroom that connects the bunk room to the other bedroom upstairs and the ceiling started gushing water. Not just a light flow, it was pouring out of 5 different spots. It's then we noticed the water damage on the ceiling. We called the emergency number just because we were concerned about electrical issues. A man came out the next morning and said it had been a problem in the past, but a plummer fixed it and it's not a problem. However, everyone that stays here complains about it, but can't recreate it. He blamed the shower curtain. Okay, but there's no way that much water came down because of a shower curtain not being in the proper place.
The house wasn't cleaned well. There were bugs everywhere and the downstairs bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in awhile. I stayed in the downstairs room and there were items left behind by other guests still under the furniture. I guess the cleaners don't clean under furniture. There was a sock, a comb and the top of a deodorant. Our final morning, the power sockets went out in the kitchen. We tried to find the panel to flip the circuit and could not locate it. This greatly interrupted how we made breakfast and concerned us because of the water from the first night. The cabin we cute and cozy, but needs to be fixed and maintained!
