We had a different apartment with amazing view from the balcony

Host had a few properties and gave us a different one to this. Although further west from the centre of Funchal and had no swimming pool, it was quite amazing and near the sea. Had a bigger balcony with fantastic views. Host was very attentive and communication was excellent. Can walk into the centre of Funchal but the local buses were plentiful.

The apartment description was not giving the accurate information. It is 1-bedroom (not 2-bedroom) apartment with an alcove off the sitting room with a sofa-bed and no wardrobe, sofa-bed being too low for people of advance age. The advertisement does not show that the apartment is on 10th floor with one lift only available and it gives the wrong impression of the sw pool being closely adjacent and available for use. No fire-fighting equipment and first-aid kit was provided. Balcony doors decayed and not closing. The hot water system provided hot water for 2/3 minutes only, showering & hair-washing being a problem. It would be also kind and courteous to provide a pack of toilet rolls and at least a bottle of mineral water for the holiday makers, if not a "welcome pack" in the fridge. Thanks to good weather, beauty of the area, kindness of people and our general happy disposition, the one week holiday was successful despite the deficiencies listed above.
