About this property

The Kelling - a self catering cottage that sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

The Kelling is ideally located just a two‑minute walk from Blakeney Quay, offering the perfect base to enjoy one of North Norfolk's most sought-after coastal villages. With the added benefit of off-road parking for two cars — rare for properties in this area — and a private garden for outdoor relaxation, it provides both convenience and comfort.

The interior is notably light and spacious compared to many traditional cottages, and is well furnished and equipped throughout to ensure an easy and enjoyable stay. The ground floor features a welcoming entrance hall with a convenient WC, leading through to a generous living room with log burner and dining area—ideal for relaxing evenings. A well-equipped fitted kitchen with appliances completes this level.

Upstairs, there are three comfortable bedrooms, including a king-size room and two twin rooms, offering flexible sleeping arrangements. The accommodation is supported by a family bathroom and two further separate shower rooms, providing excellent facilities for families or groups. The main bedroom also benefits from a balcony, offering views towards Blakeney Point.

Blakeney is a charming and vibrant coastal village with plenty to enjoy within walking distance. Guests can choose from local pubs serving food and welcoming hotels offering dining options. There is also a mini supermarket, deli, fishmongers, and a selection of independent shops to explore.

The picturesque harbour is just moments away, where you'll find boats gently moored along the quayside and regular boat trips available nearby. From here, you can explore scenic coastal walks, including routes out to Blakeney Point, famous for its seal colony, making this a wonderful destination for nature lovers and those seeking a relaxing seaside escape.

Two dogs are welcome and the garden is a safe, secure space for them to enjoy.

For location and size of space, price was good. Blakeney is a great base. However the property and outside space is very tired and in need of attention. It's overgrown with many weeds and the outdoor table and patio need a good clean. Inside some of the curtains and fittings are very dated. The toilet seat in the main bathroom is grim and really needs replaced - coating is bubbling and not very hygienic. Carpets in downstairs area have several stains.Good supply of plates etc but kitchen could do with clear out, drawers and cupboards struggling with amount of items. Some more clothes pegs would be a bonus alongside a new or fixed whirligig. We enjoyed our stay (4 of us) good size of rooms and living space, enjoyed peace and quiet and decent cups and plates.

Kelling, Blakeney Stay July 22

An excellent property offering high quality specification and value for money with a perfect large safe enclosed rear garden and private parking just a couple of mintues walk from the quay. The early evening sunsets from the upstairs balconey across the marshes to Morston are amazing.

Above and beyond

We were a large family group and all the extra towels and bedding were provided. We come every year and had a wonderful time as usual.

The Kelling, autumn break.

Warm, comfortable and spacious. Well equipt kitchen and lovely log burner. Bathrooms are quite tired. The showers in particular need some maintenance and a deep clean, to remove black mould. All in all a great property, would definitely stay again.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. All comments are most welcome. I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and we hope you stay again soon. We do have a local property manager who oversees the maintenance during the season and we close down twice a year for more specific maintenance. I do hope the issues you mentioned did not spoil your stay.

Christine and her group were great guests. They followed house rules, communicated really well and looked after the property, handing it back in a lovely clean and tidy condition. We are already trying to arrange dates for next year.

Well equipped house in a beautiful setting.

We really enjoyed our week at this house. The house is large and interesting and very well equipped with everything you could need. The television had Netflix which enabled us to sign in to our account which pleased the children! The only disappointment was there was no games room. The description said games room and the photo's showed a pool table which the children were looking forward to playing on. However when we arrived there was no sign of it which was disappointing. Other than that we had a lovely week and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
