About this property

Nature Lover's Pardise In The Driftless Area Of Southern Wisconsin, USA.

We are located on a hidden bluff at the end of a dead end road in the driftless area of Southern Wisconsin near the popular tourist destination of New Glarus, America's Little Switzerland in Green County Wisconsin.

The property is nestled in a stand of mature oak trees with rock cliffs, deer & turkeys grazing in the yard. It is a nature lovers dream!

The 2600 square foot 3.5 bath log home sits on 40 acres. The home features four spacious bedrooms with plush beds, a large surround deck in the tree tops, high speed internet & access to private walking trails that wind through the woods complete with limestone cliffs and pollinator prairies. The interior of the home is lined with pine boards that give off a pleasant aroma and add to the character adding to the cabin feel but the home is well appointed and has all the features you will likely need.

We are close to many communities like New Glarus, Dodgeville, Mineral Point, Mt Horeb where local festivals take place weekly throughout the spring, summer and fall. Take in a brewery tour or sample some fresh cheese at one of the many local cheese factories. Be sure to ask for fresh curds!

There is easy access to Yellowstone Lake State Park and Wildlife Areas with a host of other possible recreational activities including hiking, cycling, fishing, canoeing, boating. There is even hunting, in season and recreational shooting at a well maintained no cost range at Yellowstone Lake Wildlife Area.

**** VRBO rate software does not allow us to discriminate between children and adults as additional guests and will automatically generate an additional guest fee if the number of children are entered. We only charge an additional guest fee for adult guests. We do not charge for kids!

Please note the number of children that will be staying with us in your email to us so we are aware that you are bringing your children but do not list your children as guests to avoid the additional guest fee. We have contacted VRBO to hopefully resolve this issue. Thank you! ****

Relaxing getaway from Chicago
My husband, brother, sister-in-law and I were just looking for a close get away from Chicago. The property was beautifully maintained, and had a carved out trail that was fun to do with the dogs. The back porch was perfect for bird watching, I had never seen so many different types of birds! The house had a lot of amenities including a fridge with filtered water and a dishwasher. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. We had a wonderful time and hope to return next year!

Big House in the woods
Great family and pet friendly place. Wonderful hosts that met us at the house, showed us around and offered to help carry our luggage! The long road to the house was plowed by owner after an April snowstorm. Nice house with well stocked kitchen. Lots of books and toys for the kids and nice game table upstairs. Warm, cozy place to stay in the woods. Enjoyed the birds and creatures around the woods.

Perfect vacation home
Very well maintained and clean property with all the amenities! Steve was the best host and really took the meaning of customer service to the next level. Cold and rainy weather did not deter us from having an incredible time on this very amazing and secluded property!

About the host

My wife Marilyn and I were born and raised in Southern Wisconsin. We have lived in the area all our lives and know that there are many special places in this world but there is no place like home! Our daughter and her husband live nearby and we are able to see our grandchildren on a daily basis. It is a great place for a family and we chose to make it our home.

Why they chose this property

My wife and I purchased this home last year because it was at the end of our dead end road right next our home and included land adjacent to our land. We retired recently and thought that it would be a good place for friends and family to stay while visiting the area. When not use by our guests, it is available to the family.

What makes this property unique

We love this part of Wisconsin because it is in a physically beautiful area with trout streams, cliffs and deep valleys. We can watch the deer in the yard every morning and hear the sounds of sand hill cranes and turkeys by day or watch a bald eagle circling overhead and hear coyotes by night. At night the sky is full of stars that most will never see. With all the hustle and bustle and chaos in the world these days, we know that we can step outside and hear the sound of the wind in the trees and leave everything behind us and just enjoy life with our children and grand children.
