About this property
Peaceful luxury for 2 in beautiful tranquil countryside
Woodside is an award winning luxury self-catering holiday cottage for 2 near Hexham and Corbridge, Northumberland. Nestled in the gardens of an 18th century cottage five miles south of Hexham, with far reaching views over a wild life pond and pastureland, towards Slaley Forest and the North Pennines, it provides a peaceful and contemporary retreat ideally situated for exploring the world heritage site of Hadrian's Wall, Kielder Water and Forest Park, and the Northumberland Heritage coast. The spectacular landscape of the North Pennines AONB is to the south west, and the bright lights of Newcastle and Gateshead are twenty miles east.
The half vaulted living space has a light and airy sitting area with a leather sofa, flat screen television with Freesat, contemporary fireplace, DVD player and ipod dock. Wide bi fold doors lead on to the terrace, with far reaching views over pasture and woodland. The granite topped kitchen/diner is fully equipped with an induction hob, electric oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, washer dryer, and a comprehensive range of kitchen utensils. The bedroom is stylishly furnished with a super king size bed which can be made up as two singles on request, oak wardrobe and side tables. Non allergenic duvets and pillows and pure cotton bed linen add to the experience. The adjoining fully tiled shower room has a large walk in shower, wash hand basin and loo. Outside there is a large decked area with a table and chairs, parasol, barbeque, and planters. Here you can sit and enjoy the tranquil views over farmland and watch the birdlife - in spring the curlews and lapwings gathering on the meadow, while in the summer the swallows swoop and dive over the grass, and buzzards soar lazily over the woodland. A separate lockable dry storage area is available for bulky items such as walking gear, bicycles etc.
A welcome pack, loo paper, cleaning products, tea, coffee, milk, sugar & biscuits, and complimentary toiletries are included

What makes this property unique
Woodside Lodge is situated in quiet and tranquil countryside, yet is within easy reach of Northumberland's attractions such as Hadrian's Wall, Vindolanda, the National Park and the Heritage coast. To the south is the dramatic and unspoilt landscape of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Outside, there is a large decked terrace, furnished with a dining table and chairs, parasol, barbeque and planters. You can relax here and enjoy tranquil views over farmland and the large wildlife pond. The birdlife is especially interesting; in spring, watch the curlews and lapwings gathering on the meadow, while, in summer, swallows swoop and dive over the grass and buzzards soar lazily over the woodland. The field in front of Woodside Lodge is part of a working farm, so you may also see livestock (cattle or sheep).
