About this property

Log Home Retreat On Picturesque Private Farm

Get away from it all at this log cabin home in beautiful West Augusta. Enjoy the private setting surrounded by a 900+ acre farm that backs up to the George Washington National Forest. Plenty of walking/hiking trails, multiple ponds for catch and release fishing, and various wildlife viewing opportunities.

Located a short drive from Historic Staunton or beautiful Highland County.

The custom built home features an open living room with large stone fireplace, kitchen, and dining area on the main floor as well as the master bedroom and bath. Upstairs is the second bedroom, bathroom and loft area overlooking the living room. The finished, walk-out basement features a bar, game table, foosball table, and sitting area with a sleeper sofa as well as a bathroom with washer and dryer. The loft area and finished basement provide areas for optional sleeping arrangements , i.e. air mattresses.

The house has a full wrap around deck including a screened porch with large picnic table. Relax and enjoy the beautiful views from the rocking chairs on the porch.

Charcoal grill on site (bring charcoal and/or lighter fluid). Linens provided. Please bring paper products, soaps, detergents and trash bags.

This is truly an unplug and unwind getaway - there is no cell service, no internet, and no cable. There is a hotspot at Mountain View General Store 2 miles away where you can access Wifi and make cell phone calls. There is a TV with DVD player as well as a house phone for your use. The setting and surroundings more than make up for the lack of digital entertainment.

We do not allow hunting on the property or access to the National Forest for the purpose of hunting. There are many nearby areas off the property to legally access the National Forest designated for general public.

Need more space? Check out our listing 1546111 for the other log home here on the property, 3 bedroom, 3 bath. Book them both!

Amazing Cabin
The cabin was clean and well maintained. The property was beautiful with plenty to do. We enjoyed family time around the little lake fishing and walking and using the little row boats available. The views were gorgeous! A peaceful and amazing place to stay!

Annual visit
We love coming here. I rent the cabin for myself and my daughter and her family for a Christmas gift. Instead of gifts I do and experience. This is our 3rd year coming. The kids love the pigs!! Only thing missing at this cabin is a hot tub lol

Host profile image
We are Luke and Leslie Hewitt. Luke and I were married on this property in 2011 on Star Hill. My father bought the first piece of this property in 1993, and was able to add to it over the years. Luke and I started living out here in 2011, and became full owners in 2016. We have three children: Hunter, 17; Lauren, 14; and Charlotte, 8. We love this beautiful, peaceful spot in the Shenandoah Valley. Luke is an avid hunter and fisherman and has wonderful access to both right here. This is where we've chosen to build our life and raise our family.
