The property is ideally located for walking to the beach or town. We loved that. Everything about the house is perfect for a large vacation. It is well laid out, plenty of common areas and bedroom space, and well maintained.
My family and I had a great time at Summerhill. The house was very clean, and had all the amenities. Also, the location is fantastic. Close to shopping and the beach. We would definitely stay again. Highly recommend!!
This was our 2nd time staying at Summerhill. Hope to return again!! Plenty of space for all ten of us (6 adults, 4 children). Very kid friendly - toys, books, videos and more. We’ll equipped kitchen so we could really enjoy our nights in. Walkable to town. Owners very reachable and helpful. We felt very comfortable during our stay.

Thanks Linda. Glad you enjoyed your second time here. We look forward to seeing you again!
Summerhill is a truly lovely home in a quiet, residential area that is just a short walk to the beach and shops. The décor is perfectly beachy in a cottagey, understated way. Our crew had a bit of an issue with the cleaners but that was resolved and responded to quickly. In all, a great stay and a perfect location!
We had a great time at Summerhill!
The house was spotless, well equipped and spacious. Our family (6 adults, 4 young children) had plenty of room and privacy. The kids enjoyed the movies, books, games and toys that were provided. Everything needed for the beach was available. I can’t think of anything that was missing.
Great location too. We enjoyed morning walks by the coast and then walked to town each evening.
Sue was readily available to answer any questions that we had.
Hope to return to Kennebunkport again and would definitely stay at Summerhill!
Summer Hill was a wonderful experience. All of us thought the property was even better than the pictures. We had four middle aged adults (two couples), two children (ages four and seven), and two childhood friends in their eighties. First, it's immaculate. Second, it's designed so that we could easily come together as well as spend time apart. The kitchen has absolutely everything amazing chefs could want (we coveted the high end waffle maker), and we enjoyed great dinners for the adults while the kids were able to happily play and watch tv in a small den - they were close by but separate. The childrens' books are high end and it felt like we were in a beautiful public library; the lawn toys and toys and games inside had all of their parts; and the kids loved playing both inside and out. We could also walk easily to the water to skip rocks, pick up lobsters, etc. Susan was also really responsive. We highly recommend Summer Hill!

Lovely, spacious home, close to everything
We stayed at Summerhill with 2 of our children and our 4 grandchildren (ages 9, 8, 6 and 6) and had a wonderful time! The house is lovely and has lots of great space for people to be together or to be apart. Plenty of room in the kitchen with plenty of kitchenware, a big dining table, comfortable beds, 3 large, bright bathrooms, a TV room, reading nook that the older 2 grandchildren used a lot, etc. We never felt cramped. The screened porch was a lovely spot to sit in the evening. And there are games and books galore to keep everyone happy. We were fortunate enough to have nice weather so we spent time at Colony beach (an easy walk and a good spot for rock hunting, digging in the sand and tidal pool exploring...and it's not crowded) and also Gooches beach where there were better waves for playing in (although the water temp was pretty chilly). The 'girls' in the group walked to town for a little fun shopping and lunch at Federal Jacks one day. The food there was delicious (we went at 11:30 which was good, because it got pretty busy by noon). We also tried out Nunan's lobster hut in Cape Porpoise (just a few miles up the road). It's one of those Maine lobster restaurants really set up to serve freshly caught lobster- not fancy, but very good and not too expensive. All in all we had a wonderful time! Thank you to the Millers for sharing their home! We hope to visit again.

The house was perfect for a trip with extended family - lots of room to gather but also room for everyone to separate and have their own space if needed. Kids (ages 2-7) LOVED all the games, books, and toys! Adults appreciated the fully stocked kitchen. Walked to colony beach every day to swim and search in tide pools. A quick 1 mile walk to town.
We stayed here for several months in the fall and could not recommend the house any higher. It's a beautiful home (and property) that is nicely furnished/decorated and supplied. We felt like we were staying in a friends home rather than a rental. Susan is a wonderful, responsive host who helped us when questions arose. The pictures on the posting capture the house nicely, and the surrounding neighborhood is lovely!
We had a fun stay at Summerhill and there were many great things about the house that we enjoyed: it’s beautifully decorated and was clearly recently remodeled with care. It was very well equipped (extremely well-stocked kitchen, lots of beach toys and boogie boards, beach towels, movies, books and games), the beds were comfortable, the yard was great for the kids to play in and the porch is huge and perfect for hanging out. The location was also great—close to Colony beach, close to town, and walking distance to a wonderful small seafood market (Port Lobster). There were a few negative things about the house and the rental experience as well. Since the house doesn’t have air conditioning, it got somewhat uncomfortable on the hot and humid days in August and the house would benefit from the installation of some ceiling fans, particularly in the bedrooms for sleeping (the standing fans provided weren’t much help for us). A few of the bedrooms had a slight musty smell. In addition, after we left, the owner charged us an extra cleaning fee, saying that the floors and stove and cabinets were not clean. Since we had paid the fee for professional cleaning, we figured that sweeping, mopping, and general cleaning of these areas upon departure would be included. We tried to follow the check-out instructions as closely as possible and we did not think we left a mess requiring more than standard professional cleaning. We were also charged an unexpected additional fee for linens a few months after we booked.
Stayed for a week with family to celebrate my grandmother's birthday. The house was beautiful, clean, comfortable, and very well stocked with kitchen supplies/games/etc. The hosts were also very helpful and communication was easy. I'd highly recommend and thank you for the great memories!

Thank you, Sally. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay.
Exquisite, Comfortable, Fully equipped, felt like home away from home.
This beautifully fully equipped home from kitchen to beach towels was THE most fun and convenient home we have rented for a vacation in years.
The owners show pride in all the quality furnishings and quick responses to any questions making our stay more pleasant. Walking distance to the beach, downtown and restaurants added to our enjoyment. Oh I must mention the floor plan allows privacy and group gatherings. The grassy lawn enabled game playing and more fun. Love love love this home! Hope to return in the coming years for another family gathering.

Perfect Maine Cottage
This is a very well appointed house with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The rental linens are nice and make arriving and leaving a very easy process. The kitchen is perfectly equipped with good cookware. All appliances are new and there are many extra amenities like beach towels, chairs and toys that are also available. I highly recommend a trip to Kennebunkport and a stay at this house.

Beautiful family house in Kennebunkport
We were delighted to stay at this charming house with our extended family in July. The kitchen is well-stocked with any appliance, plate, or glass that you might need. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were nicely done. If I had known how many kids books and movies were there, we wouldn't have brought any toys! My daughter loved all the books. It's a short walk to Mabel's Lobster Claw, Port Lobster, kayak rentals at the Nonantum, and more. We had a blast. It was very spacious for 5 adults and 2 kids. Hope to be back!

Thank you for your thoughts on regarding your stay. We were so glad to hear you enjoyed our home, its location and Kennebunkport. We look forward to your return.
My husband grew up coming to Kennebunkport, and from the first time he introduced me to this old ship building town, I was hooked. As we like to say, there is everything to do, or nothing to do, depending upon what you feel like each morning. We live just outside of Philadelphia, but visit often, bringing friends and family when we come.
Why they chose this property
Summerhill has the best of both world's - close to all of the activities you want, and yet just a few blocks away from the hustle and bustle of Ocean Avenue. You can easily walk to the Colony Beach, Walker's Point (the Bush compound), great restaurants such as Mabel's Lobster Claw (which also has a walk-up ice cream window - a perfect short walk after dinner at the house!), and Port Lobster, which has the freshest catches of the day. Our neighborhood is very family oriented - many residents are up "for the season", which helps to ensure its peaceful, quiet setting.
What makes this property unique
Summerhill was a diamond in the rough, with many traditional cottage characteristics such as the fireplaces, built-in seating, hardwood floors and a screened in porch. It just needed a little TLC, which we were more than happy to provide. The house was renovated from top to bottom, but we retained the charming features that we fell in love with. Mornings and Evenings are the perfect time to quietly sip coffee and cocktails, respectively, from the screened-in porch. There is enough room for everyone to have their own space, and also come together in the large family room, dining room and kitchen. The over-sized detached two car garage fits every-size car and easily stores all of the beach chairs and beach toys that we have available for you.
