About this property

Aloha Russian River

Update! This is a quiet retreat and not a place for noisy parties. Noisy guests will be removed. Stars and sun! Dogs welcome. This home from 1947 sits on a large, private, sunny half-acre. There is another small rental cottage on the property with a year-round tenant who is very quiet and usually not there. The property is within walking distance to the Russian River and the town of Guerneville. Many upgrades have been made to the home while most of the original charm remains and there is a sunny deck with outdoor dining for six people. The large sunny front yard is a magical place to stroll and observe the many native plants, fruit trees and herbs. Note: due to the drought this year we will not be watering the grass. Behind the house is a woodland area with a giant olive tree and redwoods. There are several great, large sandy beaches nearby that only the locals know about (just ask). The property is great for stargazing . This is an old farm house style home, some of the surfaces are new and sparkling and some of the surfaces are historic and rustic. The home is especially clean with new dishwasher, new LG washer/dryer, new towels and sheets, great charm and natural light throughout. Guests will have access to the entire property except for a small caretakers cabin. The caretaker is usually not there and always very quiet. This home was built in 1947 for a widow by 2 local craftsmen carpenters. Please respect this historic old home like the old lady she is. Original artwork by local Guerneville artist Mark Lifvendahl is on some of the walls. UPDATE: this is not a party house, please observe quiet hours, no noise after 10 pm. The homeowners association, the Sonoma Conty Sheriff and the host now have a zero tolerance policy for noise after 10 pm. This is a place for quiet retreat. The home owner will be off property but lives in nearby Monte Rio.

Great visit with family

Mark's house was spotless and well-equipped for our family stay. The deck was perfect for family dinners and the property is well-located for a quick walk to the local playground (for my nephew) and downtown for food, etc. Mark was easy to contact and responsive to inquiries and requests for advice on how to enjoy the area. We would definitely stay at his house again.

Beautiful peaceful place

Quiet and beautiful house located in a magical yard with an edible landscape and flourishing trees! We loved this little spot and wished we could stay longer. Gorgeous art on the walls (the owner just might be the artist?), a sweet deck, clean, spacious and comfortable. Great privacy, happy vibe and within restaurant delivery service!

Lovely quiet retreat

This property is exactly as described- rustic charm paired with modern amenities. The property is within a neighborhood but feels very private. It is a short drive to the river, Guerneville and local wineries. The spiral staircase to access the master bedroom might be an issue for families with toddlers or those with mobility issues but wasn’t a problem for our family. We had a very nice stay!

Great weekend vacation!

My husband and two kids came here for Memorial Day and we absolutely loved it! A very charming house and very close to town. There is a great deck for grilling and hanging out, and the house came with everything that we needed. Would definitely recommend!

Relaxing weekend!!

Mark's place is really well located. There were four of us and the house was just right. The deck is great for hanging out with coffee in the morning and a cocktail in the evening. Downtown and the river are within walking distance. Mark is very responsive and a great host! We would recommend this property!

Wonderful Experience

I highly recommend this property to anyone looking to get away from a fast paced life to enjoy the simple things. We stayed here for a weekend for a wedding and it is in an ideal location, close to downtown and the river which we canoed down the day following the wedding. The owner, Mark was amazing and extremely accommodating, providing us with an early check-in and later than usual check-out, not to mention adding little touches that made the stay even more enjoyable. The master bedroom downstairs is cozy and quiet and feels as if you are separate from the house and the deck upstairs is peaceful and relaxing. All in all, great, much needed mini getaway!

Above and beyond expectations

First off I would like to thank our host Mark. Gave us our privacy and had his home clean and ready for a great weekend. The home is in a perfectly central location. Walking distance to downtown, the river and the brewery. The patio is a great place to gather it has a grill and great views. Kitchen had all the necessary cooking utensils and plenty of dishes, glasses and silverware. (And a nice Quartz counter top) The entire home has Marks artistic touch which is a bonus. I would definitely recommend this home to families and small groups of friends. Thank you again Mark

Beautiful, cozy getaway!

We had a fantastic stay at Mark's home. The deck is lovely, gets great sun, and was the perfect place for morning coffee and dining. The kitchen was very clean, has new appliances, and was well-equipped for meal prep. The open living room and dining area made it easy for everyone to hang out without ever feeling crowded. The bedrooms were clean, comfortable and there was plenty of extra bedding and pillows to suit each persons preferences. Of the homes I've rented, I'd place Mark's in the top tier. It was wonderful to stay in a home that was bright, cozy, well-appointed with Mark's artwork, and charming rustic aesthetics. Additionally, Mark's communication throughout the process was straightforward and he made the process easy. Mark made himself available to ensure our stay was going well, without the stifling check-ins I've experienced with other rentals. It was the perfect place for our gathering and I'd highly recommend it!

Great Russian river home

We had a great weekend staying at mark's aloha Russian River home. The location was convenient and it was really easy to access both guerneville and the Russian River. The artistic feel of the place was great, and we loved the sunshine on the deck, which was perfect for our morning coffee. We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the house- specifically the bathroom, the cookware and downstairs which were all in pretty bad shape upon arrival. Saying that- Mark did his best to check in with us and make us feel welcome, which was a really nice touch. All up, the house itself could use a bit of cleaning, but otherwise we loved our stay here and would consider coming back.
