About the host
Hosted by Randy Polumbo
The New York Times bills Randy Polumbo, trying to sum up his architectural/design work on his Spiikehorn Ranch house, as "The Master Bulder Cuts Loose." You could also say the same of his work on this unique Bellport, Long island Converted Barn and Cottage.
Randy is a graduate of The Cooper Union School of Art, as well as a LEED accredited master builder and serves on the Board of Directors of New York Live Arts. He is an installation-based artist who lives and works between Joshua Tree, California and New York City. His artwork has been shown nationally and internationally across metropoles and natural landscapes such as deserts, ruins, and caves.
He loves sharing his distinctive home designs as a natural extension of his sculpture installations and exhibitions.

Why they chose this property
Village of Bellport, NY
A quaint, bucolic village located on the South Shore of Long Island, Bellport Village has long been a destination for both day trippers and summer residents. It offers a variety of shopping and dining opportunities, along with one of the most well-known summer theatres in the region. Bellport is one of the rare municipalities with its own golf course and tennis complex, an ocean side beach and a bay side beach.
Founded by Captains Thomas and John Bell in the early 1800s and originally designed to be a seaport, life in Bellport has centered around the Great South Bay for almost two centuries. It was once the main source of revenue for many residents who fished and clammed off its shores. It continues to offer many recreational activities including boating and fishing in warmer months and ice boating in the winter.
Visitors and residents alike can often be seen strolling down the quiet roads leading to the bay, many with historic homes dating back to the 1800s. Quaint Victorians sit along side houses done in the Greek Revival style. Many homes feature white clapboard siding and green plantation shutters, giving Bellport the look of small town New England.
Beach lovers enjoy Ho-Hum Beach, located on Fire Island between Smiths Point County Park and Watch Hill/Fire Island National Seashore which is serviced by the Village ferry, the Whalehouse Point. Mother’s Beach, located on the Bay, offers a closer alternative and is often filled with families enjoying a day at the beach.
The Bellport Country Club is one of the oldest on Long Island, dating back to 1899. Golfers enjoy a unique experience on this Seth Raynor designed course, as the winds off the Great South Bay can change a ball’s trajectory in the blink of an eye. Its signature hole, the dog-leg 15th, was created by Robert Trent-Jones in 1961.
