Spent a long weekend riding the trails in the area. The trails were close and easy to find. We put on over 350 miles. The cabin was perfwct for unqinding after a long day of riding.
Our stay was Aug 19-22 and.
The weather was perfect for trail riding.
The cabin was perfect like always.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in
Quaint yes, quiet no.
This is a well-appointed, well-stocked cabin surrounded by beautiful trees. It looks peaceful. However, there is road noise from both sides, you can hear all the activities and conversations from cabins on the neighboring hillsides and all of the lake noise of boats and parties. The kayaks create the illusion of water access, but there is none within walking distance. Beds were comfortable, but the basement is very dank and 2 of the bedrooms are located there. If you're sensitive to smells, this isn't the place for you. We received communication through VRBO moments after arriving, not to welcome us, but to inform us of an additional pet fee. Went back outside and saw there is a camera over the front door which gave us an awkward and creepy vibe coming and going or using the deck freely. I imagine this cabin is a beautiful winter retreat, we enjoyed the trees and appreciated the bird feeders were all filled. The nearby Winman MTB trails are awesome. The dank basement, noise and feeling of being watched made this cabin a poor fit for us.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was clean and very inviting. We walked, had lake time and loved spending down time with our family, our son came from Colorado!
We did not spend much time in cabin. Four of us were not familiar with keyless entry system. We had hard time entering first time because of lack of instructions Other than that, we enjoyed immensly
This house was perfect for what we needed. Our family used to have a house on Spider Lake so this was like going home. The rooms are very small and there is not a ton of space, but it was perfect for what we needed at the time. The beds are comfy, but the one bedroom with twin beds is barely moveable - they are end to end with no walking room so it is not good for 2 adults (kids would have no issue). We walked between the home and our friends place with no issues and the stars were beautiful.
One thing - the kayak landing on the property is difficult to get the boats to and you cannot use the boat landing on Mills Point to get to Spider Lake because this home is not part of the point. So make sure you can carry the kayaks through a bit of terrain (although not overly crazy).
We were surprised at the listing stating that it slept up to six people. For four men the room in the lower level that held two single beds was not enough room for our two guys. We were happy for the couch against the wall on the upper level where one of our guys slept all week
Beautiful place to stay, perfect for us we came to trail ride.
Perfect cabin perfect location and the property manager is a great guy.
Thanks for everything..
Hope to go back next year...
We completely enjoyed our stay at this quiet cabin in the woods. It was clean with all the amenities you would need. The kids enjoyed the kayaks that were available. We were also thankful for the AC as our stay was in August. We would definitely consider staying here again.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the cabin in Mercer. The owners have made it so comfortable and welcoming, It feels like home! The area has so many interesting things to do - hiking, boating, biking and more! I loved riding the Vilas and Iron County bike trails!
The cabin has nice modern amenities. Having a microwave, refrigerator/freezer with a working icemaker, and internet connection made the stay very pleasant. What we most appreciated though was the fact that the host responded to any questions very quickly. We had an issue with a water leak. Bill had the property manager and the plumber there within the hour.
Once again this property does not disappoint. This is our 3rd annual fishing trip up here in the north woods at this property. We have no desire to look else where.
This is a nice cabin in a secluded area. Perfect for UTV and snowmobile adventures. You can see the lake from the cabin but there is no public access to the lake. Cabin is well stocked and has everything you will need to enjoy your stay. Owner was available and responded promptly when needed.
This cabin is excellent, clean and very nice overall. The host was very friendly and easy to talk with. The cabin is close to orv trails and downtown mercer. We would definitely stay here again. 🙂
Great location for a family sxs trip easy to get to and good trailer access I love the fact you can actually have a fire at this location a lot of places will not let you use the fireplace/fire pit
Cabin is secluded but close to town. Beautiful area. We enjoyed the access right from the cabin to the OHV trails. Encountered plenty of turkey and deer in the neighborhood. Even a bear crossed our path on the Hwy in town.

Purchased the Northernwood as a getaway property for me, my wife Cheryl and my two college-aged daughters in 2010. Still living in the Chicago area, but looking to spend more and more time in Mercer as we reach retirement.
Why they chose this property
The Northernwood is a perfect north woods getaway. Although not directly on a lake, it has shared access to Spider lake only two blocks away and hundreds of lakes that you could travel to within 30 minutes. Nestled on a wooded 3 1/2 acre lot on a dead-end road, it has all of the privacy that you would want. The Northernwood has direct access to both ATV and Snowmobile trails. There are over 200 miles of ATV/UTV trails in Iron County, and thousands of miles of snowmobile trails in Iron and neighboring counties.
