We had a wonderful week here! Spent a couple rainy days in front of the fireplace and watching the deer wander through. What a great place to relax and escape from the daily grind. Thanks for a great time!!
This was a yearly vacation. The house was very nice. Decorated really well. There could have been more towels, but we did wash a load. Any problems we had were quickly resolved. Came for golf and fishing. Had 1 day of rain so went shopping. Restaurants were all friendly.
Our stay was Aug 19-22 and.
The weather was perfect for trail riding.
The cabin was perfect like always.
Thank you for another great vacation Bill..
See you next year.
Very neat and tidy cabin located just outside Mercer, WI. It was as described and the owner gave us some nice recommendations for dining out. The main living area combined with the kitchen made for a super cozy and inviting place to relax and play some cribbage. Overall, great stay.
We completely enjoyed our stay at this quiet cabin in the woods. It was clean with all the amenities you would need. The kids enjoyed the kayaks that were available. We were also thankful for the AC as our stay was in August. We would definitely consider staying here again.
Once again this property does not disappoint. This is our 3rd annual fishing trip up here in the north woods at this property. We have no desire to look else where.
The property was very nice, quiet. The property listing included firewood to be available and it was not. The owner was asked about this and we received “Sorry, a bonfire was held last weekend”.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in
Quaint yes, quiet no.
This is a well-appointed, well-stocked cabin surrounded by beautiful trees. It looks peaceful. However, there is road noise from both sides, you can hear all the activities and conversations from cabins on the neighboring hillsides and all of the lake noise of boats and parties. The kayaks create the illusion of water access, but there is none within walking distance. Beds were comfortable, but the basement is very dank and 2 of the bedrooms are located there. If you're sensitive to smells, this isn't the place for you. We received communication through VRBO moments after arriving, not to welcome us, but to inform us of an additional pet fee. Went back outside and saw there is a camera over the front door which gave us an awkward and creepy vibe coming and going or using the deck freely. I imagine this cabin is a beautiful winter retreat, we enjoyed the trees and appreciated the bird feeders were all filled. The nearby Winman MTB trails are awesome. The dank basement, noise and feeling of being watched made this cabin a poor fit for us.
Cozy cabin feel, clean and organized, LOVE the deck area looking over the trees. Lots of birds and deer making visits throughout our stay. Close enough to town if you need anything, but far enough away to enjoy the sounds of nature.
Overall we had a great time. The place was nice, great fire pit, secluded even though you could barely hear the neighbors you couldn’t see them at all. I would have liked it to be a little cleaner.
We had 4 people there and it fit us just perfect. Bill was very available every time we had questions prior to us going there. Had a great time. Made use of the grill and fire pit outside. Very quiet location and very little traffic for a peaceful stay. But yet close enough to town to enjoy the area.
Perfect place to stay for an ATV trip! We almost had a schedule problem but the manager was easy to message and work with! Would love visit again! The cabin is perfect.
We had a great weekend. The home was perfect for us and our adult children. We have stayed here a few times and absolutely love it. Location is perfect and peaceful.
Spent a long weekend riding the trails in the area. The trails were close and easy to find. We put on over 350 miles. The cabin was perfwct for unqinding after a long day of riding.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was clean and very inviting. We walked, had lake time and loved spending down time with our family, our son came from Colorado!
We did not spend much time in cabin. Four of us were not familiar with keyless entry system. We had hard time entering first time because of lack of instructions Other than that, we enjoyed immensly
This house was perfect for what we needed. Our family used to have a house on Spider Lake so this was like going home. The rooms are very small and there is not a ton of space, but it was perfect for what we needed at the time. The beds are comfy, but the one bedroom with twin beds is barely moveable - they are end to end with no walking room so it is not good for 2 adults (kids would have no issue). We walked between the home and our friends place with no issues and the stars were beautiful.
One thing - the kayak landing on the property is difficult to get the boats to and you cannot use the boat landing on Mills Point to get to Spider Lake because this home is not part of the point. So make sure you can carry the kayaks through a bit of terrain (although not overly crazy).

Purchased the Northernwood as a getaway property for me, my wife Cheryl and my two college-aged daughters in 2010. Still living in the Chicago area, but looking to spend more and more time in Mercer as we reach retirement.
Why they chose this property
The Northernwood is a perfect north woods getaway. Although not directly on a lake, it has shared access to Spider lake only two blocks away and hundreds of lakes that you could travel to within 30 minutes. Nestled on a wooded 3 1/2 acre lot on a dead-end road, it has all of the privacy that you would want. The Northernwood has direct access to both ATV and Snowmobile trails. There are over 200 miles of ATV/UTV trails in Iron County, and thousands of miles of snowmobile trails in Iron and neighboring counties.
