This Groovy location was perfect for our family. It’s pretty much a straight shot to the Sitz and in a great neighborhood for taking a walk. The house has a really fun, throwback vibe, and while It’s an older house, it needs to be for this Groovy feel. And it embodies the spirit of old Girdwood which is a HUGE thumbs-up . The kitchen is small, but it never seemed to be an issue as it opens right up into the great room. The hot tube is why we chose this property, and it didn’t disappoint; it was private and like tubbing in the woods under the stars. The hosts were fantastic, easy to reach (not that we really needed to), and had good communication. Plenty of towels, pillows, TP, trash bags, kitchen items, accessories that are always needed. We had a great time with our older kids (16, 19, 22), but I can see this place being great for all ages. I think this will be our new “go-to” place when staying in Girdwood. Thank You!
Location was excellent, easy to get to the lifts or into town. The hosts were very responsive whenever we needed anything. Check-in and out were a breeze. We’d definitely stay here again.
The house is exactly as described. The bunks beds were very comfortable as were the queen beds. Hot tub was great. We enjoyed our three day stay and would book again. Hosts were very quick to respond to our questions.
This house was an absolute pleasure to stay at with plenty of room for a family with kids to spread out and have a good time. Everything in the house was fully stocked from extra towels, blankets, to all types of kitchen ware. The stream shower in the master bedroom was a dream especially after skiing. The fireplace was nice and cozy. The house is on a charming street in Girdwood. Our family will definitely be going back for another ski trip in the future! The owners are very accommodating and kind, their responses were always timely. Thank you again for everything!
Wow! all the comforts of home. They really prepare for your stay. Fire wood ready to go, all the dishes you need, lots of spices and even food to add to your dishes, outdoor grill ready to go and best Keurig I've ever seen :) The steam shower truly helped with recovering these old bones for the second ay of skiing. Loved the theme of the home, original left from builder. Wouldn't change a thing, except needs more icy hot LoL! Owners even helped out exceptionally when I thought I left my keys behind. Thank you guys!
Property was exactly as listed. It was stocked with everything you might need. Town of Girdwood had a really cool vibe that went along with the vibe of the chalet. Steam shower was amazing.
This place was such a blast! The decor encouraged us to listen to 60s music and boy, was it fun. We also had fun fishing for salmon on the river. Definitely would come back!
The location is ideal for exploring the Kenai peninsula and Anchorage area. Very comfortable home with easy access to many delightful trails for all skill levels

Wonderful place for a Kenai basecamp. Got to spend a day at Wasilla with the Remington dog team, dead whale autopsy, hang around with Dead Catch crew in Homer and catch up with old friends in Eagle river.

Great cabin
The cabin was perfect for the 7 of us. Never felt crowded. The kitchen is tiny but worked fine. Thought the 60’s motif was cute. Kids loved the Xbox and fooseball. The new shower is very nice even though we never took a steam bath. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 is it smells a little musty in the back of the house. Freezer needs to be cleaned out. Could use an empty cabinet to store our food. As a result had to use the available counter space for our stuff. Would stay again though as overall really liked the cabin.

Unique home in great location with good privacy and plenty of room
We stayed here on a family vacation in 2019 and really enjoyed the "vintage" decor and finishes in this home. The furniture is absolutely classic. The showers and bathrooms were great and the ski storage and vestibule area was really helpful.
The hosts are truly wonderful - they left chocolates and a special note for us and made us feel very welcome (we never met in person). Easy to communicate with and attentive.
Location is a quick 10m walk to lifts and there is plenty of parking for 2 or 3 cars.
Would stay here again.

Charming, cozy and great location with a view of mountain!
We are life long Alaskans and this cabin took us back to a time of simplicity, coziness, and fun that we experienced as children growing up here. If you want to feel part of old time Alaska and enjoy the great walking location and view of the mountain this is a great place to stay. The bedding and towels were soft and comfy and Jeremy and Debra were very friendly and kind. We would stay here again. Thanks for taking us back into time and making the cabin so welcoming and cozy, Happy New Year 2019!

Cozy and homey.
A great place to visit, close to the ski area and amenities. Also the master bedroom and steam shower is tucked away on its own, great to get away from all the rest of the groups hustle and bustle.

Vintage, Sheek, Retro, Awesome!
Booking was simple, communication was great, arrival, access and departure were all simple and we had no trouble at all.
We came up for the Alaskan Xtreme Triathlon (I finished!) and stayed for a week. There were 4 of us and the place was perfect! There are bunk beds in the third bedroom so it could have easily fit more folks or be kid friendly. The location is amazing and close to everything. The kitchen is a little small, but very functional and we had no issues.
When we first arrived, we notice the 60’s era big bulb, Christmas lights outside, and when we walked in, it was definitely a blast from the past. While the decor was all 1960’s ish, it was all very comfortable and suited us just fine.
There is a steam shower, but we didn’t use it. If I could make one suggestion it would be to upgrade the satellite for the TV. We were outdoors, hiking, fishing, and enjoying all that Alaska has to offer, so it wasn’t a big deal to us. But the one day we tried to watch a little TV, there weren’t many channels, and the reception was not that good. But not enough to stop me from coming back, or giving it a 5 star rating!
Top notch place, clean, and great communication! When we come back to Girdwood, we’ll be reaching out for sure!
Thanks again for making our stay in Girdwood amazing!

Great property! Great location!
We had a great stay at the Groovy Girdwood Chalet! The decor is cute and the location is awesome. It had all the amenities we could have wanted and was a quick walk to the slopes. The owner was also very responsive if anything came up.
As a side note, there are plenty of condiments in the kitchen so if you had something in mind to cook, it might be worth checking to see if what you need is available!
Thanks for the great stay!

About the host
Hosted by Jeremy and Debra Hurst
We have lived and raised our son in Girdwood for the last 18 years. Girdwood has so much to offer and we enjoy sharing it with visitors. We live in a separate structure on the same property.
Why they chose this property
The first thing you will notice is location - Perfect, walkable to everything yet quiet and off the beaten track. This Chalet was purchased from the original owners who commissioned master craftsman Eddie Gendzwill, who refurbished the Alyeska Roundhouse, to build their family cabin in 1965. The family left us most of the original 60's furniture which we have maintained as the chalet's theme. The custom shower, built for two, in the master bedroom provides a welcomed relaxing retreat.
What makes this property unique
This chalet can comfortably host a family of 8 and is only 2 blocks to the ski lift, groomed cross country trails, Jack Sprat Restaurant, or the Sitzmark Bar & Grill. The Girdwood Brewery is only 4 blocks away and Chair 5 and the other downtown girdwood attractions are less than a ten minute walk. ...yet, this chalet is situated on a quiet neighborhood road.
