Lovely magical stay in the countryside

We were a family group with young children and grandparents, and we all enjoyed staying in this old Catalonian farmhouse. It was a good base to explore both the Garrotxa region and also Girona and even the coast. We didn’t have the best weather (spring 2025 in Spain has been super rainy!) but Esteve was helpful to provide heaters for us. We still enjoyed walking on the local trails as well. The house itself preserves it’s historic charm but also had everything we needed for comfort. The kitchen and bathrooms were very good. We would definitely recommend for a peaceful stay off the beaten path.

Magical / unforgettable break with friends

The castle is absolutely magical. It has an incredibly welcoming energy and situation in nature. Lots of great hikes from the door and a perfect place to lounge, read books and relax. We would highly recommend anyone thinking about staying in this place to dive in. Esteve was fantastic with all communications as well, a pleasure to deal with. TT

Beautiful Location

This is a beautiful property with a lovely outlook. Being 1000 years old or so its not all mod cons but is well looked after. Some of it is extraordinary. Real history. When problems arose Esteve was super prompt and efficient in dealing with them. The one neighbor is wonderful and the two nearby waterfalls are beyond beautiful. A haven for butterflies and dragonflies. Lots of memories and adventures. Walks aplenty too.

Magical place

We fell in love with this property. The setting could not be more beautiful and peaceful, and the house retains a powerful sense of history along with the modern comforts. It turned out to be everything I had hoped for when I made the reservation. As Americans who think of a 200-year old property as being "old" it was so special for us to stay in a place that dates back nearly a thousand years! Charming small rustic pool by the front gate and a lovely outdoor dining area, lots of trails and a waterfall nearby, so many wonderful surprises. We will never forget our stay there. Esteve was very responsive and helpful, check in and out was a breeze. Thank you for sharing your home!

Unique accommodation and stunning location

What a privilage to stay somewhere with so much history and character. Despite the age of the house it is very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay. The boys enjoyed exploring the garden and playing in the plunge pool and we all appreciated the BBQ and fire pit and listening to the wildlife at night. The house is quite remote and at the end of a long lane so shop in Banyoles before you arrive. We used the house as a base for walking and day trips to La Garrotxa, Besalu and Girona. Esteve was a great host, checking to see if we needed anything and how we were getting on. I definitley hope to return again. So much more to see.

A perfect triatlon training Holiday

The Castell de Roca is a gem, hidden 3 klm from the road to Banyoles. The river by the house is enchanting. You can start multiple hiking/trail run trails right from the house. Contact with the host is very easy. All the rooms offer enough privacy. Ping Pong table was used to organise nighttime competition games. Our dog was always outside, going for a swim whenever she felt like it.. We met the farmer who came to check on his cattle. Very friendly man. We learned making coffee with the ‘percolator’ and enjoyed the slow cooking method.

Avontuurlijk vakantiehuis

Goed verblijf gehad van 2 weken in deze authentieke spaanse castell. Vermaak in de rivier en wandelen in de omgeving. Rust en ruimte gegarandeerd. Wonen is op de 1e etage, slapen is goed. Weeg rust en ruimte af tegen comfort, en je hebt een fijne vakantie.

Fantastisch landhuis in betoverende omgeving

Met onze familie, bestaande uit vader, moeder, zoons (26,24 en 21 jaar oud), dochter (14 jaar oud), schoondochter en oma (72 jaar oud) hebben wij 2 heerlijke weken mogen verblijven op dit sprookjesachtige ‘Castello’. Na een 3 km lang onverhard pad kwamen wij aan bij een hek, daarna een heuveltje op en daar was onze eindbestemming. We waren allen blij verrast. De foto’s op de site doen het huis geen recht, de werkelijkheid is veel mooier. Ondanks dat het oud is, is het comfortabel, is alles aanwezig en werkt alles naar behoren. Bij calamiteiten is daar José, de beste buur die je je kunt wensen en kun je Esteve makkelijk bereiken via de app. Vul de grote koelkast met boodschappen (neem afbakbroodjes mee!) en je hebt verder niets nodig. Het zwembadje is verkoelend, er is ruimte voor sport en spel, je kunt er heerlijk wandelen en de watervalletjes achter het huis zijn adembenemend. Uiteten gingen wij in Banyoles (25 minuten met de auto) bij restaurant El Carpa de l’Estany’ een absolute aanrader. Girona is zo’n 45 minuten rijden en is veel leuker dan Barcelona! Ook een dagje strand behoort tot de mogelijkheden (75 minuten rijden), maar wij hebben het bij één dag gehouden. Castello de Rocca had alles voor ons!!

Espectacular

La casa es espectacular!! Nos hemos sentido muy cómodos en seguida, las camas son cómodas, la cocina es super funcional, solo había un pequeño problema con una tubería de donde salía agua cuando fregábamos los enseres de cocina. Solo para tenerlo en cuenta, al estar en un entrono tan privillejado, la llegada a oscuras a la casa no resulta fácil, con lo que recomiendo llegar con luz del día y con la app Waze, el google maps no es del todo fiable en este entorno además de que no hay cobertura, con lo cual deja de guiar. Lo de la cobertura no tiene más problema porqué la casa tiene wifi, pero es muy agradecido desconectar de la frenesís diaria que vivimos en las ciudades con una tranquilidad tan relajadora que se respira en esta estancia, junto al sonido del arroyo y los cantos de pájaros. ¡Realmente brutal!

Außergewöhnliches altes Steinhaus

Wir haben hier mit den Kindern und Enkeln 2 Wochen im September verbracht. Diese schöne Zeit in dem alten Gemäuer werden unsere Enkel nicht vergessen. Sie konnten im gemauerten Pool planschen und kamen sich sich vor wie Prinz und Prinzessin in einem verwunschenen Schloss. Für Menschen, die vollen Komfort möchten, ist es nicht geeignet. Man muss kleine Einschränkungen in Kauf nehmen, z. B. kommt das Wasser aus dem Fluss und man muss extra Trinkwasser zum Kochen kaufen.

Estancia especial

Hemos ido dos familias con nuestros hijos, y hemos estado muy a gusto, pues el castillo tenía de todo para hacer una estancia especial. Hemos comido con pajaritos, bañado en la piscina al atardecer, y disfrutado del río al que accedes desde la misma casa. Comentar que tienen juegos de mesa, e incluso play para los preadolescentes en momentos puntuales. A destacar la predisposición y hospitalidad del anfitrión Esteve, para dejarnos disfrutar más tiempo en su castillo. Gracias y hasta la próxima.

Para desconectar

Teniendo en cuenta que es una masía del S XII. el alojamiento genial. Para personas con discapacidad, no es aconsejable, ya que hay escaleras para acceder tanto a la cocina, como a las habitaciones... El entorno, si lo que quieres es desconexión, super genial. Aunque no conocimos al propietario, nos atendió muy amablemente (Movil) y nos resolvió, satisfactoriamente las pequeñas dudas surgidas. Sugerencias : A la piscina, no le iria mal algún escalón, para facilitar tanto la entrada como la salida.. Choca un poco, que, las basuras que generamos durante la estancia, (se nos pidió por favor) tuvimos que llevarlas hasta el pueblo más cercano. Pero la verdad es que fué un mal menor en comparación, con lo agradable de la estancia. Sin duda un sitio que recomendamos, y al que seguramente volveremos.

Un buen sitio para estar tranquilo en familia y amigos

El lugar es idílico y perfecto para descansar y hacer excursiones. La casa es genial y tiene de todo. Es un lugar con mucha personalidad y muchas posibilidades. Es rústico y agradable a la vez, pero necesita un repaso general y algún armario ropero más. Unos dias fantásticos!

Dies de desconexió!!

Hem passat uns dies molt agradables, gaudint d'un paratge magnífic en plena naturalesa,al costat del riu. Una gran casa amb totes les comoditats, fins i tot una sala de música. Els nens s'ho han passat genial.
