About this property

Charming cottage in peaceful hamlet near St Davids & Solva

The Old Tailor’s Shop is a delightful, Welsh cottage in the peaceful hamlet of Caerfarchell, in the the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The cottage has been renovated to a high standard with soft slate flooring throughout the ground floor, with exposed stone walls enhancing its original character. Spacious and light inside, the large kitchen/dining area with a vaulted ceiling, making it ideal for cooking and socializing.

The cottage is tastefully furnished with a spacious living room, the open plan kitchen and a downstairs bathroom. Upstairs are two bedrooms – one double, and one twin bed room. Central heating, double glazing and a wood burning stove ensure the cottage is warm & cosy in the winter months. A stable door leads from the kitchen out to the charming, enclosed back garden, which has a central patio with garden furniture.

It is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful St Davids peninsula, being a five minute drive from the Cathedral City of St Davids and the pretty harbour village of Solva. There are a number of excellent pubs and restaurants in the area and St Davids has a supermarket, delicatessen, pharmacy, butchers, fruit and vegetable shop and a Post Office.

The hamlet provides easy driving access to some of the stunning beaches in the area, Whitesands, Newgale, Caerfai & Broad Haven to name a few and the coastal path for walking. The former St Davids airfield, which is now a nature sanctuary is ideal for walking dogs and bird watching and only a ten minute walk from the cottage.

The cottage is ideal for couples and small families, with oil central heating, double glazing and the wood burning stove, making it snug out of season. The cottage overlooks the village green with a parking space directly outside for one car and roadside parking for additional cars opposite.

Lovely homely cottage
Our stay was very enjoyable overall. Back garden/courtyard not quite as pictures showed. Slight height issues in shower and bedroom for me as I'm 6'4". Couldn't get log fire going (could be us!) Underfloor heating didnt appear to work.

Cozy cottage
The cottage is comfortable and well equipped. Our stay was in December so the log burner was a bonus. We would stay again if visiting the area.

Perfect cottage in perfect location
We had a lovely week with our 2 dogs at the Old Tailor Shop. The cottage was so close to so many great beaches and coastal path walks. We also enjoyed a visit to St Davids and Solva. We had a meal at the Sloop Inn in Porthgain which was very nice! The accommodation itself is very well equiped and cosy.

Hello I'm Emma, I manage The Old Tailors Shop holiday cottage via my interior design company Seaforth Designs based in the Harbour village of Solva just a couple of miles from this lovely little property. I predominantly handmake Coastal and Countryside cushions using British tweed and wools woven in Wales. Character's inspired my life here in Pembrokeshire like Puffins, Oystercatchers, boats as well as foxes, hares and lobsters! So I'm always on hand to help with any questions or recommendation's you might need.

Why they chose this property

I love the history behind this little cottage so we have an interesting information folder about the renovation and the small friendly \hamlet of Caerfarchell ( pronounced Cair-varch-eck , in my mind anyway! ) for you to read through. It is ideally situated just outside Solva, so you don't have the hustle and bustle! The cottage was beautifully restored a few years ago so it modern and warm but with traditional features. I hope you love this cottage as much as I do!

What makes this property unique

The cottage has a deceptively spacious feel, I remember the first time I walked through the door into the living room and through to the kitchen, I knew this little place was a winner!
