Fantastic cottage in an amazing location.
Fantastic cottage in an amazing location. Great base for exploring the Dales. Peaceful and quiet location with access to great walks straight out of the front door but close enough to Hawes and Askrigg to access pubs/cafes etc. Cottage was very spacious and warm. Perfect for our dog too with an enclosed back garden. Even red squirrels visit the garden!

We have had a wonderful holiday at Lilac Cottage, very quiet, beautiful views, and the zip and link bed was so comfortable we slept like babies!
My only complaint, they could do with a new fridge, or fridge freezer. But apart from that everything else was perfect.
We will definitely be booking it again.

We stayed here over Christmas and what a great cottage in a excellent location to explore the wonder
We stayed here over Christmas and what a great cottage in a excellent location to explore the wonderful Dales. The cottage is very large and spacious for the two of us and our large dog and has a good standard of equipment, only thing missing was a tumble drier really, everything was very clean so hats off to the cleaner as this was one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed through cottages.com.
The open fire was great over a very cold Christmas the bedroom we used had a superking size bed that was so comfortable it made it hard to get up in the morning.
Great place for dog owners with a secure garden and plenty of places to walk and also good views of the Red Squirrels and birds in the front garden. It is very close to Hawes a 5 minute drive and near Askrigg and other such lovely places.
Overall a great place and we will return soon.

Lilac Cottage is just a great place to stay.
Lilac Cottage is just a great place to stay. The views are magnificent and the cottage itself has everything you would need. It is very comfortable and clean; the bed was the best :) We took our dog and she loved running around in the garden and lying in the sun. The peace and quiet was just what the doctor ordered.

We have been holidaying in cottages for many years and this is by far the best we have been in.
We have been holidaying in cottages for many years and this is by far the best we have been in. It is clean, well equipped, full of character and charm. The only fault we found was that the double bed was not comfortable and squeaked every time one of us turned over. We will return, and hope the bed has been replaced!

We have stayed at Lilac Cottage 3 times and it's our favourite cottage ever location wise.
We have stayed at Lilac Cottage 3 times and it's our favourite cottage ever location wise. The views are tremendous and being a little off the beaten track it's so peaceful although a few minutes drive or 30 minute walk to Hawes.
We have a big car so parking near the cottage is difficult and very tight. We unloaded the car and parked it a few minutes away at the village green.
Unfortunately I have to say the cottage is desperate for a few upgrades. The two settees have the springs pushing through so you can feel them making then pretty uncomfortable and the fire needs attention. The Henry Hoover sadly only had one wheel and we bought and left a new can opener.
So love the cottage but please sort out the few issues

This was our second holiday at Lilac cottage, the first being 3 years ago and we have just returned from our second. The cottage is in a wonderful location with lovely views, it is very peaceful and quiet. The cottage is very well equipped, we had everything we needed, there are just a couple of little things to say, i think the cottage is in need of a little tlc, the cushions in the lounge are flat and old, i think they needed washing, it did state when we booked the cottage that there would be enough logs etc for a fire and there were none and finally the first night we slept badly because every time we turned over the bed made an awful creaking sound, the following morning we looked under the bed and the 2 supporting legs in the centre of the bed were not flush with the floor and at a slant and 2 of the wooden slats were broken which accounted for the noise, having said this we would certainly stay there again but the bed should be replacedWe took our dog eric with us and it was great to have an enclosed garden for him
