Butterwick is a particularly tranquil area of The Lakes with footpaths and bridleways leading from the doorstep. Ullswater is five miles and Haweswater three miles with walks directly onto High Street and Harter Fell.

Good cottage to explore Ullswater

Nice cottage in a good location to explore the Lakes. All well equipped with everything we needed. Would be good to be able to use the heating even in the summer as with wet weather it was hard to dry boots, coats etc.

A lovely barn, in a lovely rural location.

A lovely barn, in a lovely rural location. We mainly drove for our days out but there were plenty of walks nearby. The barn is very well equipped (everything is there from clothes horse to books/ games to keep the children occupied in an evening) and clean. Perfect for a tranquil getaway. The garden is completely enclosed which meant that the dogs could have freedom whilst out there. I'd certainly recommend Gill Barn to anyone wanting a quiet break away from it all.
