Hartington itself has plentiful local amenities including pubs, cafés, a well stocked village store and even a famous cheese maker. An area popular with outdoor enthusiasts its reported to have some of the best walking and cycling in England as well as opportunities for hang-gliding and rock-climbing. Central within the National Park, a half hours drive takes you to the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, along with the popular market town of Bakewell. Matlock with its cable car to the Heights of Abraham, Ashbourne, Buxton and the fascinating plague village of Eyam are also within 30 minutes as is the UK’s premier theme park Alton Towers.
