Bathroom: Roll Top Bath, Walk-In Shower, Toilet. Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and superfast Wi-Fi included. Initial fuel for wood burner included. Welcome pack. External utility room with freezer and washing machine. Enclosed lawned garden with patio, garden furniture and BBQ. Bike store. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: No children or babies.. This detached barn conversion is a romantic retreat, nestled within glorious countryside with woodland and country walks. Retaining its charm with oak floors, old beams and a wood-burning stove, the owners also provide bath robes and slippers for guests’ comfort.



This is the perfect place to relax and unwind to the sound of birdsong and nature. The property is surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and magnificent scenery, and is just 1½ miles to Halwill Junction with its post office, shop and village inn. The glorious beaches of north Cornwall are just 17 miles away, with excellent surfing and breathtaking coastal walking. Fishing, horse riding and golf are all on offer close by, and Dartmoor National Park is a must for nature lovers. Beach 17 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Beautiful holiday cottage in a lovely quiet location. Hot tub is amazing especially on a clear night. Bed is very cosy and spacious. Nice little welcome package on arrival and the hosts are very happy to help. Would definitely go back in the future.

I had a fantastic long weekend and returned feeling refreshed. The hot tub and bath were delightful. We relaxed in the sun on the loungers and enjoyed the peaceful garden. The location is perfect, with no traffic noise, only the sound of birdsong. The cottage is a real gem, beautifully decorated and well-equipped. Granny McPhee is an exceptional host who truly knows how to take care of her guests. The bed and shower were incredible. Everything we needed was provided, including a gramophone—amazing!

Our 4th visit to the cottage, we love it that much. Great enclosed garden for our dog, fantastic hot tub, location very peaceful and out of the way. Bude summerleaze beach about 30 minute drive - do visit ‘The bank’ tapas restaurant - gorgeous Cornish style tapas whilst in Bude. Log burner was most welcome during the time of our visit, huge comfortable bed. Lona helpful as always ahead of and during our visit. We love Granny McPhees cottage and can’t wait to book for our next visit!

Lovely cottage, location is down a small track which can be problematic if something big is coming in the opposite direction. Definitely need a car to get to places, we went to Bude, Appledore, Westward Ho each taking over 40 mins to get to, out of season, so nothing really open. Went to The Bickford Arms pub one evening and had a great steak there, went back 2 nights later and they could only offer was pizza which we didn’t want as it was my birthday. We drive to The Junction Pub, which didn’t allow dogs unless you went in the snug, but they had a party of 23 coming in, so ended up with fish and chips from the chippy!Lovely welcome muffins, firewood and Cava, but anything else like foil, condiments or oil you will need to bring with you. Radiators come in first thing and again at 18.30, so was quite cold during the afternoon, but ask and they will change the times or you can boost, or have the fire on, they also have 2 donkeys and 2 huge pigs to say hello to if you ask, bring carrots…

This was the perfect pre Christmas break. The cottage is even better than the pictures, so cosy, the most amazing bed EVER, lovely shower and the hot tub was perfect for watching the stars or we even sat out in the rain! The cottage was so lovely that we genuinely didn't want to leave to do anything else! All we wanted to do was relax, cook meals, watch films and sit by the cosy fire. Stayed at Granny McPhees for 10 days nights. Was easy to find and can be found on a single track road which we enjoy! Cottage was thoroughly cleaned has everything you need and the bed was really comfortable. Its in a quiet rural place and just what we needed, all you could hear were the birds and the donkey  Lona and Rob are lovely, were very helpful and responded to messages quickly. Lona also has good knowledge of things to do and see so worthwhile asking her if you are not sure what to do. We had a lovely stay at Granny McPhees cottage, the weather for us was a bit rainy but that didn’t stop us for taking the bikes (provided by the cottage) for a trip to nearby Halwill junction for a quick stop at the local Junction Inn! The cottage was beautifully cosy, hot tub was a fantastic addition especially in the more autumnal weather. Bude was approx 30 minute drive away, and we had a lovely day spa visit to the ‘W club and spa’ near Bude, which was much needed. Location wise the cottage is nestled away in the countryside, which is exactly why we booked - for peace and quiet. Our second time here and won’t be the last. It’s out in middle of nowhere so don’t expect everything on your door step but there’s a fab private hot tub which was constantly warm and it was very peaceful. Just what we needed to relax. The cottage has everything you need and is very clean and tidy. The owners who we only saw when leaving were very friendly and approachable. Nothing to fault!! You’ll love it!! Absolutely amazing place perfect mixture of modern and clean with media tv's and fast broadband coffee machine and dishwasher matched with older styling and atmosphere with the exposed wooden beams and log fire with the free standing bath and touches of pure class owner went above and beyond to make the weekend special for my partners birthday would recommend to everyone and will be booking again myself

We had a lovely break in a clean, comfortable cottage, well equipped generally - sofa a little tired, bath really tiny - good double shower so bath was not needed - but overall it was charming and classy. Super bathrobes, slippers and towels. Garden hot tub was an absolute delight, secluded so fine to use at any time. Was so quiet and peaceful. Perfect for a restful break. Pleasant, easy walks to village. Never found the one shop open though! So need to travel for supplies. A fair price to pay for the peace!! Great stay, hope we’ll return one day.

We had a lovely stay.

We had a lovely stay. Everything was really nice in the cottage and the cake that was left for us was scrummy. The hot tub was really good at the end of the day and the facilities in the bathroom were really good. The cottage is quite remote but that suited us completely. We didnt see anyone to check in/check out which on one hand was a plus but it would have been nice to ask questions in person. However all the instructions for everything were available. All in all it was a lovely stay 😀

Perfect quiet getaway for 2.

Perfect quiet getaway for 2. Owners on site and very friendly and helpful, but inconspicuous. Garden very private with superb hot tub. The extremely large bed was pure luxury and the log burner in the lounge was a focal point in the evening as the temperature started to creep down. All mod cons and initial supplies provided including a welcoming cake and fruit. Highly recommended with plenty to do locally on those typical British summer rains.
