In an ideal location for exploring the Lake District, Eden Valley and the Yorkshire Dales.. 2 steps to entrance.

Shower Room: Cubicle Shower, Toilet. Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. External utility room with washing machine. . Enclosed courtyard with seating area, garden furniture and BBQ. Bike store. Private parking for 1 car. No smoking. Please note: There are low beams in the bedroom.. Ideally situated between Keswick, Carlisle and Penrith in an unspoilt tranquil location, semi-detached Primrose Cottage was refurbished to a very good standard in 2023 and is perfect for couples. Situated in the village of Shap, known locally as the ‘Gateway to the Fells and Lakes’, being on the eastern edge of the Lake District National Park and close to the second largest lake in the Lake District - Ullswater. The village offers a wide range of amenities including a good selection of pubs, shops, a public outdoor heated swimming pool, a children’s play area and tennis courts.
The Eden Valley provides superb walking and cycling, and the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales are easy to visit too. The atmospheric, rugged area of Haweswater, 8 miles, has a viewpoint for golden eagles, pretty villages and bustling market towns abound, with a lively calendar of farmers’ markets and county shows. There is plenty of local produce to purchase or enjoy in the many restaurants and pubs serving regional favourites. There is also excellent road access to the historic border city of Carlisle with its castle and museum, and Hadrian’s Wall, a World Heritage Site, has interesting exhibitions to visit. The Northumberland National Park and southern Scotland are both within an hour’s drive. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
Primrose Cottage can be booked together with The Rockery (UK1040) to accommodate up to 12 guests.
