A comfortable and cosy cottage in a lovely, peaceful location which is just what we wanted and explains why the local amenities score is lower. The fridge is small, but perfectly adequate providing you don't want to stock up too much. We would definitely go back. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Perfect cottage for an adventure base as long as you’re happy to drive, which we were! Plenty of places within 20mins to explore but my partner and I covered a much wider area during our week stay. It was the perfect place to come home to after a long day of exploring - we felt cosy and at home from the moment we arrived on our first evening. The kitchen was very well equipped for those wanting to stay in for dinner. There was also a fantastic pub nearby in the village of Askham - the Punch Bowl Inn!! Definitely worth a dinner visit. Simon and Tina were fantastic hosts, they provided us with lots of tips and information on things to do in the local area. Thank you for providing such a lovely little cottage for us - we will be back! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

An excellent stay in an exceptionally clean and comfortable cottage.

An excellent stay in an exceptionally clean and comfortable cottage. The view from the windows in the garden cottage was spectacular and certainly missed. The location was a little remote in a small village, which is exactly what we was looking for and absolutely perfect for a relaxing few days away from the busy world. The local town, Shap, a few miles away has some good facilities, a great fish shop and some nice quiet pubs. A certainly great thing with this cottage is that is very close to most locations in the Lake District, Ullswater Lake was only 25 mins, certainly worth a visit and The Yorkshire Dales which has some amazing walks was within an hour away. We understandably didn’t meet the hosts due to the current situation but over the phone they was fantastic with all the advice and information. Everything went perfectly with instructions. Can’t wait to visit again very soon as we loved the stay so much. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

A lovely little cottage with beautiful views.

A lovely little cottage with beautiful views. It is situated in an ideal position for visiting the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. We enjoyed our short stay admiring the beautiful Autumn colours along Ulswater, Ambleside and Grasmere and returning in the evening to a cosy open fire! The owner lives next door and was friendly and available for any concerns.

Lovely cozy cottage & cery nice hosts

We had a wonderful week at this very cozy cottage close to the lake district. Everything was clean, kitchen has everything you need, the surrounding landscape is beautiful, peaceful and quiet and the box-spring bed was one of the most coziest beds we ever had in any accomodation.

Unfortunate experience

First, I called the owner (as advised) to double check arrival arrangements. She was quite unfriendly and gave me some instructions about parking, etc. I could not hear her properly so I asked if she could text me. She said, flatly, no, as if I was bothering her. We arrived at the property which is very pretty and well kept on the outside. As soon as we were shown into the cottage I smelled mold. I’m very aware of this as I’ve been quite ill with respiratory problems from mold in the past. My husband and I thought we’d try airing the bedroom to see if the smell went away, but the sash window was hard to open and would not stay open. At this point we decided to leave. We had to find a hotel and the owners of the cottage refused any kind of refund. They also denied that the entrance and bedroom smell of mold. They suggested I was imagining it. We had driven for 4 hours, we are in our late 60s, and the last thing we needed was to set about finding more accommodation late in the day. So to suggest I was inventing the problem was absurd. There is something odd about this listing. When I checked the reviews I noticed that several were repeated, in one case 4 times. Also, they don’t tell you that the cottage is managed by an agency who charge a booking fee on top of the VRBO booking fee. That agency have offered to refund me their fee, but I still paid the VRBO fee and the three-night rental.

A great central location for touring the area.

A great central location for touring the area. We were lucky with the weather so able to do plenty of walking, sightseeing and taking in the stunning scenery. Lovely welcoming cottage, although a minor point that more food storage areas would be a bonus such as a vegetable rack. Helpful, friendly hosts including the cat!

We really enjoyed our week in garden cottage. Very peaceful in a wonderful rural setting. The weather was warm and sunny. Great fish and chips in Shap and great coffee and cakes in the Mill Yard Cafe in Morland. We would definitely recommend this cottage. E & T from N Ireland
