Nearby the famous Pennine Way, Calderdale Way and Cragg Vale provide excellent walking and cycling with the National Cycle Network Route 66 on the doorstep, the Tour de France 2014 was hosted in the area. The Peak District National Park can be reached in around 40 minutes, and offers a wide range of outdoor opportunities. The birthplace of Poet Laureate Ted Hughes, Mytholmroyd is just a 5-minute drive away, and the charming and vibrant market town of Hebden Bridge can be reached within a 10-minute drive. Haworth, most famous for its Bronte heritage, can be reached in around half an hour. Shibden Hall, an exquisite, 600 year old timber manor house, set within 37 hectares, is close by as is the Grade l listed Piece Hall, the last remaining example of the great northern cloth halls, which has recently undergone a £19 million restoration programme.
